Here i'm "7 years, 5 months, 1 week, 4 days" later watching this video because i need to change the entire phone from motherboard to housing. If only you were my teacher through out life, I watch so many tear down videos over the years but never for one did any of them take their take and labeled out everything on a phone as you have. Damn I will pay anything, any day ,anytime to have you for a teacher. Very very detailed tear down. Thank you

THANK YOU. You, Sir, have just saved me from buying a new 'phone. I dropped it on Gravel, bought just an outer glass kit and tried to remove it after watching just one other video, Cooked the Display Screen and was on the point of giving up when after a few days sulking I found Your Video above. After watching this twice, I've bought a Frame and Screen from one of the Ebay sites in Leicester for £31 and using a Jewelers Screwdriver set have just spent 30 minutes saving £500. Easy and Clear to follow, Loads of pitfalls pointed out and now I also know what all the bits inside do! Once again, THANK YOU!

This is a wonderful video. I am a smartphone tech in Nacogdoches, Texas, and this video was superbly helpful to me. It's totally comprehensive, and what I like most about your videos is that you don't speed up all of the processes to cut down video time. Your utilization of real-time really implements into the individual's mind the measure of care one must take in repairing smartphones.

Thank you so much! Your video saved my life after I ran over my Note 3 with my truck. I have insurance but that does not get me back all the data I had in the phone memory. I was able to buy a frame from Amazon and follow your video to get the main board, front camera, vibration motor and communication board into the new phone and its like having a brand new phone again! Thank you so much.

Haven't done the screen/digitizer repair yet but I already know that this video works. Why? First off, the VJ is confident and his actions with the phone are steadfast, without "hesitation" movements before he actually takes the step. The best part, for me anyway, has got to be the absence of the moron disease, affecting people so they think because they CAN make a video, that they SHOULD. Nothing could be further from reality. You know them instantly by the dialogue: "UGGGGHHHHHH, UMMMMMM, Uhhhhhh.. Ummmm LET ME FINISH! Uhhhhh... and UHHHH.... " This video though, has none of that annoying crap. That's delightful. Thank you for the video.

I accidentally dropped my Note-3 in water and it worked for a short time but then failed completely. I had to disassemble the phone to allow it to dry out. I had never taken any phone apart before so I was rather nervous about doing this but I have to say it was VERY easy and everything in this phone is modular in design and is very simple to remove and replace. After disassembling everything I let the various boards and components sit in the open air for 24 hours and then used a blow-dryer set on warm to make certain everything was absolutely dry. I reassembled everything and it powered up just fine and has worked flawlessly ever since. I'm glad this happened because I know I can replace any modular component in this phone if need be :)

Thank you so much. I slipped on Ice and smashed mine. Your video gave me the knowledge and confidence to buy a used/refurb unit that now has my old main board transplanted into it and working good as new. My last backup wasn't entirely up to date and I wasn't relishing the cost of an entirely new smart phone. Ended up paying out £290 for new parts that were broken but now have 2 fully working Note 3 that look good as new. It was actually nice to replace the frame of my old one as it was chipped from a drop that it survived a few years back. *Subscribed

THANK YOU!!!! this vid helped me a lot. One thing I learned today is that if you have cracked glass and end up breaking the digitizer, you can't move your contacts list off the phone onto another device. The screen needs to be working to move contacts...even at the Verizon stores. So I used this vid to switch my motherboard onto another phone....problem solved! Thanks!

on a side note, people new to this, like myself, should take care when inserting something to remove the back. I could barely get any wifi signals after last night so knew I had done something wrong. Sure enough, when I reopened the back and checked, I saw that I had bent the WIFI antenna contact which is close to the edge of the fone, bent it back as best as I could and wifi works now thankfully

Dont do it man. The guy who made this tutorial is good but he didn't say that you might have a massive amount more glue than he did on his screen. Trying to pry it off like he did in the vid won't work even with a heat source. A new screen costs $200. If you are talking about just the LED lights, those won't get damaged. Watch the vid

This is i guess the only video over the full tube which is so descriptive, properly zoomed enough to see every part clearly. i appreciate your work dear, especially the naming of each part was quite informative for me. I have saved the video for future reference as well.
With your this video I was capable to replace my note 3 screen very easily.
    One question:
After i replaced the screen, the phone seems to be little slower than before, I mean the response of the phone slow rate. What could be the reason??
Thanks for the video and I hope to get an answer from you.

Wonderful video, I stay subscribed to watch and just learn and see how these small expensive devices work and it's interesting to see how you take it apart and explain what each part does for the phone to function properly. And props to how precise and careful you are while performing the tear down.

I had a problem with my proximity sensor, thanks to this video, it helped me clean it from inside. It's well known among Galaxy devises that they collect dust, which makes the proximity sensor not work well, especially when making a call. The screen goes black and doesn't turn on until I hit the home button several times. The proximity sensor will not stop whenever in use, due to dust. Thanks again, now it's clean.

If I only needed to replace the screen, can I get away with just opening the back and disconnecting the two flex cables which are connected to the screen itself (I believe that was the "S Pen Flex Cable" and "Main Display Flex Cable") and just pulling them through the other side? Or will leaving motherboard attached and exposed during screen removal damage the circuitry? I'd like to believe I can just feed the new ones through and connect without dissembling the entire motherboard and keys. Thanks for the very informative and well filmed video. No distracting music, just info and high quality video.

I like the video. Every aspect of it is great... Thank you for posting. Having said that. I replaced the screen and digitizer on my note 3 and thanks to your video, it was really easy to do. However, my GPS is not working properly now. I get the app GPS test to "see" satellites, but they are not in use??? I know that my GPS worked, before I smashed my phone into the ground, but not it doesn't. The main question is, did the impact break the GPS, or did I or something wrong back together???
    Thanks,
    G

***** I opened my phone up again to see if the little contacts/tabs for the GPS need to be bend up a little... While doing so, one of them broke of the board. I sure looks like this could have been my problem. Question is, how do I "replace" that little contact again. It looks like it is permanently attached to the board, so replacing the contact only is not an option. Can I throw a "drop" of Solder on there in order to make a contact point??? Thanks.

    • @synergy021
      @synergy021 8 лет назад

Easy solution is just add a dab of solder so that it will make contact like it's supposed to.

    Hi there,
First of all love your detailed video, superb. I dropped my note 3 a while back and it only cracked the front glass, digitiser still worked. Then a while after the digitiser stopped working. S-pen digitiser was still good so was using just with s pen only for a while. Then! The screen started going crazy, registering false touches, so I finally bought the new LCD assembly (£120), fitted it expecting to solve my touch screen problem - this didn't work. I noticed I had some corrosion on the mainboard, just in one tiny area - so soaked in 99% IPA and it came up nice and clean. I noticed at the end of your video your digitiser didn't work as you damaged the flex cable... Im trying to find the exact problem with mine. Buying a new screen I thought would fix it, but maybe a problem with the mainboard connector? tried flashing stock rom on the off chance it could be software, no joy. I have a nice new clean LCD and only the s pen works, the problem of the false touches has gone though. Im confused. help! Thanks in advance, keep up the hard work :)

Excellent, comprehensive video. I have a question that I hope you might be able to answer. I attempted to replace the screen myself, but was unsuccessful, and ended up wrecking the digitizer in the process. So, I bought a brand new digitizer/screen assembly and decided I would take it into a shop to have them assemble for me. They claimed that when they tested the digitizer, they never were never able to get the phone to work. They even tried another motherboard and this did not solve the problem. At this point, the phone powers on, there is vibration, the LCD illuminates, but the screen remains black. I have taken the phone apart and put it back together numerous times with the same results. Everything seems to be connected correctly. Is there anything else that you can think of that could cause a brand new digitizer not to work? FYI, this is a rooted phone. I had just recently flashed a custom ROM (Marshmallow Resurrection Remix), which had been operating flawlessly prior to the screen repair. Could this cause the problem?
