A gold card isn’t a guarantee that they know what their doing either…😮
You'd hope it would be though... 🤔
@@efixx yea,,
@@efixxI have worked with Gold card sparks who could not do 2 way lighting in singles!
They are out there!
@efixx Joe.... can't seem to be able to find the "You'd hope" standard in the regs.... anywhere 😂
If anyone knows where it's hidden 'I'd hope that person was you' 🤔
🤣🤣🤣
I think there’s a few people here that are plastic non Cert 3 sparkies!!
I had a wonky socket painted on the side of my van so I don’t get any come backs
Set low standards and fail to achieve them eh? 😂
@@efixx That's the spirit
Wait there? That's, got no spirit
Bloody hell I wouldn’t throw a stick at a rolec charger let alone post a picture online!
😂 Fair enough...
You can get fake trade credentials and qualifications certificates
from any of the scammers who advertise on Facebook instagram. But why would you it doesn’t make you look good or clever, it just makes look like a pilchard. If you want the qualifications and the gold card then work for them and do your time at college. But to be fair there are plenty of qualified registered spark out there do dreadful and dangerous installs . And sadly that’s never Going to change .
Great news weekly as always Joe👍
The point is, they are not good enough to get the qualifications but still want to do work as an electrician.
It would have had more clout if the JIB weren't bent as a 60 pound note....
I've seen plenty of ECS Gold cards that don't list the required qualifications on the rear. Literally one I saw last week just stated 18th Edition.
I always ask to see copies of their qualifications.
At the very least people should be checking licences and card numbers before employing any trade, if for nothing else than seeing if they have any judgements etc against them. For this card it's right there on the front page of the ECS website, easily found with a web search. There's really no excuse for getting caught out by a faker like this.
Yur, it's the power of a badge though I guess? 🤷
JTL are a waste of time… sign off peoples apprenticeships off before their ready! seen one of their assessors sign off units an apprentice hadn’t even done. Emailed them and no reply.
Waste of time
Gold is a excellent conductor... 😂
Rowan Atkinson was an electrical engineer!
Rob Cross the 2018 world dart champ was an electrician
Think the actor Liam Cunningham was aswell
Atkinson was never an electrical engineer in that whilst he graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering he never went into the profession.
@@deang5622 oh right, I feel lied to now lol
@@liamdraper447 But you have to respect the guy, we all know how difficult a degree in EE is.
The selected words of the week are cock-a-hoop and tenacity .
And as always thank you very much.
It's really fun to see the electricity news, I appreciate it very much.
Thanks for commenting! 😃
Dam! How the hell did he get the work!!!
By customers not checking.
how is it possible that someone who has so poor training can be allowed to install stuff? ...I was already capable of fitting safe electricals by age 15 (my hands were big enough at last) ...back at school I was one of those weird kids who was reading the 17th edition like a best selling novel.......
How do you know his training was poor?
He was a qualified electrician.
Was it his training that was unsatisfactory or was he a poor student?
How did he pass the exams if he was so poor?
Same JIB club that still requires a National Insurance Number as proof of ID for their boys club ECS exam? Even though NI number is not a form of ID but it’s too expensive to update their system.
Rob cross is another one who was an electrician
Nice, we'll try and recruit Luke Littler! 😃
@@efixx 😊 He's doing well to be fair 3 finals in a row.
To be fair it was only a plasterer that got hurt. Maybe it was revenge.
They didn't recently rewire the minesweeper HMS Chiddingfold did they?😉
1 gone, only 40,000 more to go.
I'm completely uncertified (Beyond a 20-year old PAT qualification) so the only electrical work I ever do is my own, but I get the impression I might've done a better job than the JIB holder - I always put safety _over_ speed, which of course is the safest way to go about things. ⚡👍
So long as I can be forgiven for needing 15 minutes to rewire a ceiling rose... 🐌💨😋
But even if you are restricting yourself to your own electrical work in your own property, eventually in time you may vacate that property, and if the following owners/residents receive an electric shock from substandard work you have done, you are still going to be prosecuted.
You still need to comply with the Building Regulations (Part P) and if the work you do is notifiable, then you still need to notify building control of the work, you still need to comply to BS7671 and your work still has to be certified by someone who is appropriately qualified.
So the fact you are limiting your electrical work to your own property does not necessarily make it legal.
I always hear this response from non sparkies - “I’ve been told that I do a better job. Blah blah” 95% of the time the work is dangerous. So, forgive me for being sceptical.
@@deang5622 Aye, good point! 👍
So far, the work I've done is two replacement light switches (One of which got broken by accident and left exposed conductors, so had to be remedied ASAP) and a replacement outlet, and any works I do are pointed out and (If need be) checked during my next electrical inspection, so they're not entirely without professional oversight at least. 😇
@@deang5622 But back in the real world, good luck proving who or when the work was done.
This weeks words wondering minstrel and Pondered.
Great guesses Sean! 👍
Mark Hughes (Man United legend) trained as an electrician, hence his nickname Sparky
As did Stuart Pierce.
Sparky is also a nickname for people called Mark.
Claims to be a qualified electrician and yet still does shoddy work and has a level of competency so poor that people receive an electrical shock from his work.
That doesn't say much for electrician's training and education.
to say some of the work was shoddy is a understatement
All I hear is ( gold card ) 😂 it means nothing back in the day we had jib electrician / approved / technician BUT all you need these days is Part P ( FACT ) Comercial work can be carried by a domestic part p sparks but a Comercial sparks can't certify domestic work. The sudden gold car is a joke but like the ( master electrician in usa ) What we need is DOMESTIC SPARKS IS BASIC THEN COMMERCIAL SPARK CAN CARRY OUT BOTH after completing a Comercial training as lets be honest a sparks who has just become part p after NVQ should not be allowed to work on 3 phase until they have got a bit more knowledge. But as I say the ONLY thing you need at present is Part P ( not good enough in my eyes )
I understand where you are coming from, but I think it’s not so much about qualifications and which once should be allowed to work in which branch, I think it’s down to electrician to understand he’s capabilities. I am talking as sparks with 17th edition, NVQlevel 2 and part P this is where I started as domestic electrician I new my limits than and now I got way more qualifications like 2391-92, fire alarms, emergency lights, ev charger installation. Point I am making people should know they limits and instead just have a go at something they not too sure about take additional courses and learn before you just have a go. And people who get into this kind of mess getting someone electric shock or even wurst electrocuted because of poor workmanship should be jailed.
Livery @01:56 and COCK-A-HOOP @03:04
Nice, I think that's the first time we've had time-stamps! 😃
@@efixx dam well done @user-ro5ws2mt5q
Cock-a-hoop and Obvs
Good guesses Mark, quite a few to choose from this week! 😃
@@efixx Now you don't have to get it first time can you make multiple guesses?
Cokahoop & oviate
Obviate and Campari.
Cockahoop & obviate
Cock-a-hoop/obvs
Are you saying its obviously cock-a-hoop or is that two separate guesses? 🤔😂
