I was a student at the Crystal Cathedral Academy for 5 years. Excellent school. Great campus. Loving teachers. Way before it turned Catholic. Great days.

I’m surprised you didn’t go into the Memorial Gardens to see his grave. And you also mentioned Roger Williams he’s buried there as well. And Marie Calendar is there too. I used to do security at that property.

I think Robert Schuller was one of the most honest T.V. evangelist ever. Never heard a scandal by him or his congregation he always came across as a downright honest person. I see nothing wrong with watching this sort of thing on television especially if you can't get out to church. Another fabuous vlog!

Loved this episode. Got out there a few times, once to GLORY OF CHRISTMAS pageant. I will never forget the call to worship, "Joyful, Joyful we adore thee...." and those huge 90' doors opening to the outside sunshine! went to an Angels game across highway after worship.

My sister and nephew went to school there. Her first boyfriend was Schuller’s grandson. I was in The Glory of Christmas there one year and it was so fun.

It wasn't called the "Power of Possible Thinking," but "Possibility Thinking." Robert Schuller was an ordained minister in the Reformed tradition. A very different tradition from mine, but I digress. I got to tour the Crystal Cathedral in 1989 when the groundbreaking for the steeple was occurring. He got a donation from Armand Hammond for a substantial amount to build that steeple. Crystal Cathedral really became more of a tourist destination than a regular congregation that could sustain itself over time.

Schuller put on some really creative Christmas presentations in the Crystal Cathedral with lots of live animals and numerous angels flying from the high ceiling of the cathedral.

My folks and sister/brother in law used to go to the annual Christmas shows back when they were doing them. Live animals, I understand really spectacular. Glad to see the statues, and the building is being preserved.

I always found him very interesting compared to most other televised ministries. Did you know that his daughter bought and lives in the Jon Benett Ramsey murder house in Colorado? True fact.

Sidenote-his grandson Bobby Schuller now does Hour of Power at Shepherd's Grove. Also in Garden Grove, not too far from the Crystal Cathedral. I've watched his sermons on TV, he's really good.

if I'm not mistaken a man who was involved with the music ministry committed suicide in the crystal cathderal around Christmas time I want to say early 2000 maybe 2002 but I remember my pastor saying how sad to lose your faith and give up and he encouraged us to always believe and never give up anyway that's what I remembered when I saw this thanks

When I watch your video, another set of buildings that come to mind to me are ones close to where I live in Northern California. That is the headquarters of Oracle which is comprised of 3 or 4 buildings which also have mirrored glass windows on the exterior but they are on cylindrical towers which probably represent the symbol for a database. I've heard of this church but never have seen it until now. I can't say I can compare Larry Ellison to Robert Schuller but I can say that they both had good architects.

his son Robert Schuller was to take his place but they had a falling out and his son left and is with Joyce Meyers. The grandson of his son took over at the crystal cathedral for a few yrs. it now belongs to a catholic church and the grandson had another church called shepards made where he currently still is at.

Robert Schuler had a way about him.... He always accentuated the positive and brought the gospel to the people.... People loved him.... As a additional note He brought in the best entertainers in the world to sing, to play the piano and went so far as to hire Virgil Fox as organist.... Virgil was the best of the best ever.....

I still love Robert Schuller and this Crystal Cathedral. Both are unbelievable great for me even I'm no member of any institutional church, religion, sect and so on. (But this does not mean I'm not knowing that there is a being which is called "god" I'm trusting and loving... ;) ) :)

I will always miss Robert Schuller‘s services. I loved watching. So miss him. RIP reverend Schuller.
The inside of the Crystal Cathedral was so beautiful and I don’t know why the Catholic Church had to ruin it and take it all the way.
    Time moves on I guess.

Excellent tour today! He said, "Sin, is an out-moated concept." God was not pleased with that. It was sold to the Catholic Church for very little of it's value. Very sad ending when you preach a false gospel.

It was bought by the Catholic Church through a bidding process ordered by the court to satisfy the creditors of the Crystal Cathedral which could not collect anymore from the bankrupt church.
The bid of the Catholic Church was $57 million. But the cathedral board had the deciding power which of the offers to accept. On a 5-4 vote, they decided to accept the offer of the Catholic Church.
On top of the purchase price, the Catholic Church spent another $77 million to rehabilitate the cathedral.
The Catholic Church also offered the Robert Schuller Ministries use of a nearby Catholic Church which was not in use.
