I was in a record shop back when they had record shops and Jean Michel Jarre was playing on the sound system. I asked the cashier what was playing and he told me, so I bought a cassette by Jarre. I would have never discovered him if I only had the radio to rely upon. Glad I serendipitously discovered him.

Absolutely unbelievable what this guy did with these early electronic instuments. I was hooked and captured by it when I was 14 years old and listening to it after some years I ‘m still shocked by the “epic” energy it radiates.

Jean Michel Jarré, a visionary of modern early Electronica who allows us to dream of a higher state of mind. The guy composed and played music that didn't need to sophisticate but was already sophisticated back in an era of Disco and underground punk rock, years ahead of his time!!

Whoo! You could cut the synchronicity here with a knife. Just a little bit faster on my Yamaha YZF-R6 Grave, but I'm splitting lanes going into Moscow at rush hour to Jarre while my new bride insists on texting this for me so I can concentrate. Hard to describe.

I gotta say, Oxygene is in my opinion, Jarre's magnum opus. Also, Pt.4 is my personal fav from the album. It was "the" song that got me to make my own Jarre-inspired music(soundcloud.com/nschill) i also took inspiration from these artists: Vangelis, Kitaro, Carbon Based Lifeforms and Dreamstate Logic)

Jarre was a pioneer of electronics and trance. Loved him in the 1980’s and still love him now. This was the track used on the movie ‘Gallipoli’ you can hear the bullets and shell fire going overhead in stereo. Mind boggling in its day... and still resonates in 2020. Ben J
