Many watch collectors have spent, $100,000 plus! Just to get the Pepsi, wait 2 plus years! You saved considerable amount of time, plus life’s short! Enjoy with Health, prosperity, and congratulations!
That's extremely kind of you to say Simon! I appreciate that buying like this divides the watch community, but I've had a few health scares this year, and as you say - life's indeed short! Take care my friend! 😃🙏👊
A really well done video. In fact I watched it twice. I’ve been wearing GMTs for over half a century. My main watch today is a 2022 Pepsi on a oyster bracelet Since that is what came on my first GMT. My 2022 sub I bought from my AD in town. At the moment the sub is on the watch winder. My main everyday watch is the Pepsi. My AD said when the Daytona in stainless comes in, we will call you. The AD did call me when the sub came in. I’m pretty confident in saying. Your GMT was maybe been worn briefly by the owner of the store. Then they had to think fast when they were asked about the extra links. When a person may have waited their entire life for a Rolex. The kids are gone, the house is paid for. Finally the day has come and the AD just rang. The customer doesn’t run home and unbox the watch. Then throw the warranty card and box away. So when you see a Rolex that is even a few yrs old with no warranty card or box. That is a huge huge red flag. How many times has the watch changed hands. WALK AWAY. There will be more watches with honest dealers. Like me, you are very passionate about your Pepsi. Don’t ever ever sell that watch.
This one has been on my radar for a long time. My AD did get me a Sprite but that made me want the Pepsi more. (Watch guys are weird.) Rather than a long wait I got one second hand as the recent price decreases have brought it down to what I could stand to pay. It’s amazing. Love it. Put it under a UV light and see what happens!
What a fantastic and unexpected story about the stores and online. The attitude from some A.D's is unreal. Some act as if they own Rolex and you need to bow in their presence, and others treat everyone with such respect. Alas the latter is getting less and less. Great video.
Thanks John. I guess the Ad's are just doing what they can to make as much money as they can! It's always been the same - those with huge spending ability are just naturally going to get favourable treatment. It's not nice, but it's business I suppose 😕👍
When you were unboxing the GMT the outer box didn't look right. On the lid there should be an embossed Rolex crown (logo) and the box part (not the lid) should be hinged for easy access. There should also be an outer sleeve which slips over the outer box (yes, I know).
Congratulations on landing a Pepsi SWG! An absolute all time classic watch! I’m sure it smarts a bit paying the premium these highly desirable watches go for on the grey market but from what I understand you’d easily pay the difference (and probably much more) buying watches you don’t really want from an AD to just be given the opportunity to put your name on a waiting list to maybe one day get the watch you want! Now you’ve got the awesome watch you want on your wrist, no waiting, no games. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it once you’ve had some time with it.

Good question Aleksander. I actually try to rotate them every time it’s a Rolex day, but the Bluesy probably gets the least wear, and the Hulk probably gets the most. I think that will change with the Pepsi now though 😀👍

Congrats on your Pepsie!! I totally agree with not participating with AD relationship building! For me, the Grey market works just fine. One secret with buying "used" in the Grey market is that this is where many of the "relationship building" watches end up. Perhaps you can't get a brand new Rolex at a discount, however, you can certainly get brand new Omega, Tudor, Panerai, Zenith, etc.. on the Grey market. Literally, they've never been worn! Saps buying into the AD "relationship building" buy new watches and flip them immediately to the Grey market at a loss. I picked up several watches at substantial discounts this way..all with warranty cards dated only months old!
Wow! I never thought of it like that. Relationship building whilst minimalising your loss in order to keep the relationship going. And that means better deals for the rest of us (the savvy people that is 😉). Thanks buddy! 😃👊
I have been dealing with Bobs watches for over five years now. They must be good or I wouldn’t have stayed with them for so long, and yes I agree with you. I have a wonderful relationship with Bobs watches. Max is my sales person. It’s a first name bases. Some AD really are good at mind games. My AD will not sell over the phone. You have to be local and the AD pretty much knows who the flippers are. In fact, the manager says at least three customers a day come in and see the exhibition Watches and say Can we go out into the parking lot and I’ll give you more. The staff just laughs.
Nice video Nigel, you are a genuine watch lover! Agree with you, never pay watches you don't want, just to build a relationship with an AD. I'd rather pay a premium at my grey market dealer friend and walk out of the shop with the watch I desire.
