    Your explanation has really clarified my mind. Scallions is really easy to handle and any dish you make adding it gives any dish a delicious outcome.

    Went to Whole Foods and purchased what was/is labelled as Chives. This video showed me, I purchased Scallions. Lol! Thank you soooo much. Blessings.

    love this video! i do work in a grocery store and when it comes to customers they have a lot of questions, and most commonly they ask for either chives or leek! could you please explain the difference and how & when to use each ingredients whether its a "ready to eat" or it can be eaten just like that and not cooking it! please sir and also thank you very much for this video! it explains alot🥰🥰🥰

    I find it ridiculous when people discard the "white part" of scallions, and too many people do. What a waste.

      I always eat the white part. Especially love them chopped on my taco,s, or taco salad.

    I cook chives all the time. Stir dry with noodles, or put it in your tofu soup. Delicious 😋

    Chives are very mild to me but green onions are strong tasting. Chive buds taste amazing. I can’t eat onion pieces as they are too strong for me but I love eating chives

      yes, similar but different. you could probably just use one for a potato salad if it is mayo based

      I got some chive starters they are pretty green but not standing up right. Is that normal? Also can I use the flowers also for garnish?, because I know you don't cook them. Thanks for the video Jerry!

    Ive gotten some growing in the back yard.. Idk if its onion or chives. But its up in feb15 in 7A. Around 45 degree average, but from my personal garden the scallion seed wont germinate. Im thinking the "wild" ones are chives. What about yall?

    In our country green onion or schollions is an onion grows from the usuall onion that like ball after it spoil. And this in fall season. Isn't it?

    marvelous vid, thank you so much . yet i want to ask you. what is it that has a bulb, but the greens are flat and broad bout 1/4 wide and flat. not the tube as in green onions and they are tuff, i found that out. thus what are they? spring or what??

    But what about the green leaves of actual (red or white or yellow) onions.
    I am assuming they are also edible, but what are those laves called?

    So what you call the leaf that grow on red onion? Still look like chives

      I know which ones youre talking about. Kind of like scallions but way bigger. Like half dollar size. I had 3 in the garden last year, odd taste.

      I've had leeks ranging from 2 to 5cm diameter. Especially in winter you can get very large leeks.

    You could cook the chives with an omelette - it's only a few mins, it'll still be good.

      Confirmed, i tried this for breakfast today. Just toss them in at the same time as the eggs since the eggs cook real quick too, or maybe even at the very end. But easier to mix if done this way.

    Cooking scallions should be a brief cook.. chives are also good in salads.

    In Asian cuisines, chives can be cooked. They're actually the main ingredients in certain recipes.

    Chives in India are mostly found in Northeast India and mostly used by Manipuri peoples both Bishnupriya and Meitei.. ||amazing taste||
    People from other states, they don't even know this kinda plants were also exist ..

    I have wild chives growing all around and they do have bulbs and no they are not insignificant.
    If you have ever gotten mixed vegetables and noticed what looks like tiny round onions about 1/4 to 3/4 of.an inch in diameter those are actually chive bulbs and they are very tasty, almost like spring onion bulbs
