    Got my AIRR contract today, shipping out Feb 01

    Leaving for Basic on November 9th with an AIRR contract and a guaranteed 24k bonus. I also have been doing lots of mask clearing and swimming with a charged mask with my NSW training group, I can honestly say that it has helped exponentially with improving my comfortability in the water. Thank you for the great info on this rate!👍🏻

    A very good explanation Jeff. I would only add that for those who retire from military service… only your “pay” and your years in service are what are considered in figuring out your retirement benefit. Allowances are not part of your pay and so are NOT part of your retirement benefits. It’s why I gave up flying and being a rescue swimmer and instead applied for warrant officer during my last tour. The retirement benefit was better because it was all “pay” and not allowances.

    Used to just get flight pay for being a Rescueswimmer4 at $250.00 a month. Got a new boss and he gave us Hazardous Duty Pay which was another $250.00 a month

    When would an AWS expect to receive BAH? After all training or after first sea tour? Do you get BAH during training or on a sea tour? Also, with a bachelors degree do you advance to E3 after boot and E4 after A school?

    • @TheRescueSwimmer
      @TheRescueSwimmer  4 года назад

      I don’t know about a degree and how that applies to advancement. That would be an awesome question for a recruiter. As far as BAH goes, you either have to get advanced to E5 or be married/have children. I hope this answers your question. If you have your degree, if I were you, I would apply for OCS. Better quality of life.

    Whats the process of becoming a AIRR ? I'm really looking into joining the Navy and I that's the career path that i want to take.

    • @TheRescueSwimmer
      @TheRescueSwimmer  4 года назад +3

      Awesome question. First step is to contact a recruiter. They can give you all the information as far as steps you need to do. The process is pretty straightforward, as long as you don’t have a criminal history, don’t use drugs, and are physically fit you should qualify. There is a physical training test called for AIRR they should be competitive in called the PST. Did this answer your question?

    • @jaycharles9144

      Jeff Jorgensen I’m getting my criminal waiver cleared By the navy , So you mean that I still won’t be able to try out for this ?

    • @TheRescueSwimmer
      @TheRescueSwimmer  4 года назад +1

      Congrats! You still have to pass the PST if I’m not mistaken, so good luck on that. And yes still active, been active for over 11 years.
