I'm the vocal coach from 10:10. Yes I was very nervous, thank you very much. It takes me a month to recover from laryngitis from an unrelated sickness. I am very concerned for an injury including your adams apple. It could have crushed your larynx or any one of the other types of injuries you could have had. I enjoy your content way too much to be complacent in you hurting yourself more after an injury. I would suggest drinking tea, if you enjoy it, with honey and lemon. And rest your voice for at least a week or until you know the swelling has gone down and then slowly start to use it again. Love your content, just please take care of yourself.
Yeah definitely shouldn't be talking if its avoidable. Though I suppose its not like his career depends on his vocal timbre/quality, so it wouldn't end his youtube channel but it would definitely not be great to deal with long term either...
Mrs. Tango pretending to be Tango: Yay I counted right first try! She’s got her man CLOCKED lmaooo. Mrs. Tango’s voice over was so funny and sweet. Glad you’re gonna see the doctor! The chill quiet Pooh bear ASMR vibes were pretty nice though.
I'm usually a lurking subscriber and I'm not sure if you'll see this, Tango, but as a doctor I think you should get your throat checked out. The fact it doesn't hurt isn't an indicator that it's not serious, just either a functional problem or a problem that hasn't progressed until it's shown other symptoms aside from hoarseness of voice. There's a nerve called the recurrent laryngeal nerve that runs up both sides of your trachea to supply your larynx. You're breathing okay so I suspect only one side's injured, but you should ideally get a laryngoscope to check if one side of your vocal cords have been partially paralysed (it's usually temporary, but it would be good to check). The reason it's best you get checked out is that if BOTH vocal cords end up not being able to move (either because of palsy or delayed swelling) there's a significant impairment to breathing. If this happens in the middle of the night while you're sleeping it gets very dangerous. If getting yourself to an Ear nose and throat doctor would be too much of a fuss at least get an xray for peace of mind that you've not got subcutaneous emphysema (air in your soft tissues) that could be compressing a nerve. For peace of mind.
Wishing you all the best, my dude. I'd say you should go to the doctor sooner than ten days. Hockey pucks can cause laryngeal fractures. It's likely just bruised, but goodness, what a scary injury!
I mean. Symptoms that show up days after seems bad. Certainly everything online seems to suggest getting it checked out now since it got worse. "If a person experiences a blow to the neck, they should contact a doctor for evaluation and diagnosis. People who have trouble breathing or speaking as they usually do should seek immediate medical attention."
Yeah, this is when you reach out to a Ear Nose & Throat and get a quick scope done just to make sure nothing has been crushed. Vocal chords are sensitive tools, even singers can ruin them easily just through use alone.
As someone who relies on his voice for a living, I'm pretty darn sure he should see a doc! Stubborn 'I'm fine' man. Vocal chords are sensitive, just the tiniest scar will make permanent changes. Why on earth won't he go to docs?!!!
I’m going to pile on. Go to the ENT immediately please 😬. As everyone else has said 1) play with a neck guard 2) if it gets worse afterwards - it’s Danger Time and 3) I hope you don’t suffer lasting injury and get better soon!
To the people saying "it's irresponsible not to go to a doctor": you're right, but remember, Tango is American. Here in the US, a doctor's visit is not a simple matter. The costs alone, even with insurance, have conditioned us to basically only see a doctor in an emergency, and anything else is "tough it out". My mom once had a pinched nerve in her back that left her in extreme pain and literally unable to stand or walk; when I said I'd call an ambulance, she told me no, that she'll just wait it out. It eventually did subside, and when she finally got to a doctor like a week later they told her what it was, but... yeah. Like, you may have noticed when Tango told Mrs. T that the chat wanted him to see a doctor, he added, "...because apparently I might die." That's the American mindset: doctors are only to prevent maiming or death; anything else can be solved with rest, home remedies, and over the counter drugs that seem good. That's what happens when you allow medicine to be run like a capitalist corporation 🤷♂
All of this, and MrsT specialized in airway stuff pre-Tango, so I know Tango is in the best hands. If it was something he needed to see a doc about, I have no doubt MrsT knows exactly what to look for to make that call
You should go to the doctor sooner than later. There can be something that has to be medically looked at. A puck to the throat is not just a sore throat.
American healthcare doesn’t work like that sadly… you go to the doctor when you need to, and when you have the money. Ambulances are needed for serious problems, and according to the healthcare system, sadly, this doesn’t count as serious… which is bull to me. American healthcare needs an upgrade.
@@Gawroon7 In this case, he's probably actually right. Sounds like just swelling, which can increase over time. While it's *possible* there's permanent damage, it'd be much more likely to have a faster onset of symptoms in that case; so he's probably fine with some rest. Steroids to help reduce the swelling, but that's not totally necessary.
Tango I played hockey my entire life, including against retired NHL's in an elite league here in Florida. Never had a bad time, no injuries, nothing...but, one night playing open hockey, I decided to try playing without my shield. WIthin 20 minutes, I did what you did. A puck I deflected with my stick playing defense in the neutral zone, ramped up my stick and hit me SQUARE in the cheek, nose, eyebrow. FLAT and Vertical. My eye was completely unscathed. But, if it had hit me horizontal instead of in a vertical position, my eye would have been taken out. SCARED THE CARP OUT OF ME. Immediately went to the locker room and put my shield back on.
Ok, I now know I need an entire, official episode of Hermitcraft, narrated by Mrs Tango. All the snark, with none of that silly, annoying "experience" stuff!
Accidents can be brutal. Wish you nice recovery! But please seek your doctor if anything changes for the worse. Whether it be breath, soreness or any sort of discomfort. It's better to be ahead of a problem than to wait and see how bad it gets. When something happens to muscles or joints, it tends to have a 2 day delayed inflamatory effect. If it was not for that, I would be nervous of the delayed change. Any sort of swelling in the throught should be taken with caution though, as it can risk blocking the airways.
