Oops, I read that wrong. I though the title said SHTF Portable Bartending Kit. I thought to myself, I like the way this guy thinks. LOL.
It would be appropriate
Ha!! That's funny😀
I plan on setting up a tent in the local park on the same day or days of the week bartering cups of coffee, homemade wine and bowls of stew with bread in a SHTF situation. That would encourage others to come out and set up tents. I have a scythe and a push mower to keep the grass in check. I would be armed to keep others in check. Goats would also keep the grass down. There is enough land for a handful of goats in the park. It is centrally located and can be approached by land and water. It would be a natural gathering place for barter.
Yes, I did too. That's still a video I would like to see!
I accidentally read it as “battering” kit 😂 lol
This is why I scour RUclips for prepping videos. 90% of videos are review or getting started. I search for things to learn. This is a fantastic idea!
I'm a little embarrassed to say that I hadn't even thought about a barter stash. Thanks for the heads up!
Just set fire to your money and save yourself the time.
@@zero11010 That doesn't make any sense. Are you drunk?
@@HeyCurtis the kit isn’t going to get used. It’s a waste of money. The whole concept is garbage.
300 million people in this country. Multiple billions of people worldwide …. What was the surrounding situation where anything like this would be useful over the last 100 years?
It’s happened … yep. A handful of times in countries that were collapsing.
You’re better off spending your time and money furthering your education to increase your annual salary.
That would actually be a good use of money.
(Rhetorical question) What do you make? $100k? Getting what you need to step that up to $150k sure seems like it makes more sense to me.
That helps you, your family, your children and your grand children. A bucket with $700 in gold coins and some bottles of liquor (or whatever) to trade after the end of the world is absurd.
Never seen a barter kit before, this is genius. You deliver very well.
Mika
Just an idea, I keep a couple of boxes of cheater glasses of various magnifications for trade. Life's hard when you can't see and they don't deteriorate.
Cheap reading glasses are a great barter Item.
You might throw some cataract medicine in there too
@@wkdewok Rule number 37 of the Zombie Apocalypse....or was it my NBC training?
Contact lenses spread infection in dirty environments. Keep you fingers out of your eyes, ears, mouth and anywhere else you were thinking of sticking them!
I don't mean to be confrontational but I think it's a little wild to suggest ordinary people buy things they will never be able to use so that they can exchange them to somebody that needs a special item in a dark time. I would not do this.
@@nunyabiz2016 So its ok for opticians to do it now? Or are they giving them away? The way life in general works is that I have something you want. That gives it value. If you don't what I have it has no value.
Small tip. Id recommend adding P51 can openers and replacing the kcups with other instant coffee packets to save space and be able to pack more of it. Amazing video overall though got me making one of these kits in the future.
Yeah this kit is INCREDIBLE but he's got a point, Keurigs might not work if it's a grid-down issue. The instant coffee packets could be BIG.
top is always alcohol, then tobacco, and finally coffee, as all 3 are addictive and people will be desperate for it. your kit looks very good, looks like you've covered your bases. just a reminder, never show your whole kit, just let people know 'i know a guy who as what you need, let me give him a call' then you can can call him back, have him convinced you went somewhere else to make the pickup'. always protect your main stash!
Love this. Haven't seen anybody else talk about bartering supplies. I have some bulk restaurant packets of salt, pepper, ketchup, mustard, mayo, and hot sauce. Also, tampons. Extremely valuable to 1/2 the population (and can also be used to pack wounds)
I just upgraded this kit with those. Thanks for the view!
NO!!! DO NOT USE TAMPONS TO PACK WOUNDS!!!! Can we please stop with this nonsense. Tampons do NOT work for wound care. They one function, and one function only and if you don't know what that is I suggest you go back to 5th grade health class.
Tampons will be bartered by guys, or they will be in a permanent dog house.
It's also used for emergency gunshot , to stop bleeding. ( exrra medical bandages will be gone fast get extra anytime you can)
@@mikel9567 they have been used in farm accidents untill we could get to hospital in next county. We road in the back of an open pickup at 75 miles an hour. Bull was shot , guy lived.
Tampons are not good for packing wounds. I used to think they were also, but I watched several RUclips videos from Navy Seals and Paramedics and they said it’s a bad idea. They only absorb about 2 teaspoons of blood and they don’t provide any hemostatic assistance. If it’s all you have then I guess you’ll have to use it, but don’t bet your life, or someone else’s life on whether or not they will save a life.
Very nicely built box. Three things of constructive advice. Candy only has about a year shelf life depending on how it's stored. Cigarettes do go stale. I've bought smokes before that were past their prime and you can definitely tell when they are old compared to a fresh pack and lastly, not to knock the ammo can but I would strongly advise being super careful who you trade that ammo to. Trade to the wrong person and they might use it to come back and take everything else you have. I personally wouldn't barter ammo unless it's to family or a very dear friend I can trust that won't turn on me. Like money, desperation will change people.
Stale cigarettes are better than no cigarettes. I've smoked em 6yrs past the date. Wouldn't recommend it if you can buy fresh but sometimes you're in places where that's all you can get. It's my vice so I'm biased but those Reds and Newports would be irresistible to me. I'd trade quite nicely for them.
@@Amanda_Renesame, those would be a godsend. Stale cigarettes are CERTAINLY better than no cigarettes. 100%. He’s even got menthol and reds. Well done
Do you think vacuum sealing would help smokes from going stale or does the plastic wrapper already do that essentially? Not really a smoker myself so figured I’d ask.
I think you covered the bases pretty well but here are some more ideas... Pens and small pads of paper might not be a bad idea. Small tubes of shoe goo. Vape juice. Single gallon packs of mix 2 stroke oil. Small bottles of wd40. Cheap Knife sharpening stones. Tiny packets of Gun oil and gun snakes (obviously pretty premium items to squeeze into your ammo case). Possibly shoe laces. Last but not least...tampons and pads. Great video bro
Gave me a lot to think about.
You had me at duct tape! Maybe some super glue, or that flex seal. But most important, lighters and water purifiers or filters.
Pretty interesting. Im glad it wasnt just all booze and smokes like most other people show. The flashlight was a smart idea. For coffee look into the Folgers singles(the tea bag style not the instant) smaller and can carry more than the k cups
Great idea! Another thing that will be popular are small hand tools (screwdriver, pliers etc) and most definitely feminine hygiene products. Another thing I have found, surprisingly, helpful are those compressed paper towels that just need a couple of drops of water to rehydrate and give you a wonderful cleaning item.
If you're going to stock coffee then you probably should have packets of sugar and powdered coffee creamers and/or milk. But also wouldn't hurt to throw some tea in there.
Feminine hygiene products as well.
Yea might be helpful but during times like this people wont be too picky.
Feminine products for sure. And tampons are multi use items and can serve as blood clotting first aid in emergencies they are designed for that
Good job Brother, alot of folks don't think about having a small barter kit with their EDC. I think most of us vets have a barter supply set aside but many of them don't think to keep a small kit in the truck. I also keep emergency blankets, cheapie ponchos, sewing kits and a handful of cheap multitools. Great job, bet you enlightened a bunch of folks.
What an awesome idea. I’ve seen others talk about bartering items, but never in a kit like this.
This is brilliant, something that not enough people think about. Thanks for putting it out there for the rest of us.
"Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff." 😄
Maj. Khan!
I do communications and logistics for search and rescue, and I Cary items that the team members might break, forget or run out of. With a sharpening stone you can sharpen knifes in trade.
This is a great idea, and the first time i have seen such a concept. You really seem to have you're preps squared away.
Awesome collection. I second the idea of reading glasses.
Great idea to use a box that can travel! For my barters, I've included mini 1st aid kits, freeze dried soups/fruits/veggies. Spices/salt/sugar/flour/pepper. I've recently included mini stoves, cooking pots, hats, surgical gloves and floss.
I do have drinking alcohol but I'm a bit cheap so I have mini plastic bottles to put it in. I do the same for rubbing alcohol and peroxide.
Nice list
I bet a wilderness water filter would come in handy.....it gives you clean water which would be an invaluable trade item.
Thank you for the info and your service to our republic
That’s a nice little set up. Most people prep don’t think about trading or at least have a travel kit. In SHTH or after the main advent and the dust settles. People will have a need for some of those items . It’s definitely a thoughtful kit . I need to get trade goods kit. Even if you run into someone that doesn’t have something that you do and they are without anything to trade. You will still be able to help them . Sometimes helping people in a crisis builds a good ally .In a SHTF a person needs all the allies he or she can get
I like to see my brothas prep. Glad I found this channel. Feel like I'm alone out here. Everybody think I'm crazy when I talk about preppin
This should have more views.
I'm ok with the crawl, walk, run of views. Thank you!
Couldn't agree more. Haven't seen a channel like this that I agree with on so many points and with a style so in line with my own. Great quality videos and perfect advice. Keep it up, I think this channel has the most potential of any survival/EDC/shtf review and advice channel I've seen.
anytime I stay at a hotel I always save the small complimentary soap, shampoo, conditioner, and mouth wash bottles. I also have the small boxes of matches and I have been buying the small plastic bottles of flavored drink liquid. great video
Good ideas
Cough medicine, Benadryl, latex gloves,
I like this concept brother, I honestly never even thought about it. Just subscribed! Rahhh
Actually cold weather MRE’s have nothing to do with storage temperature, cold weather MRE’s have more calories and carbohydrates than regular MRE’s to fuel your body in extreme cold environments! Super cool and arguably better than regular MRE’s for survival situations. Love your videos!
Im shocked he had that many for barter 😮
A fellow Texan! I'm in Plano (about 20 min with no accidents on 75 from Downtown) Two things... first thank you for your service. Second I am blown away that this does not get talked about more often. This is genius. In the event that things become really bad really quick having a kit like this could be the difference between life and death. Your child or Spouse drank un treated water and was infected with Giardia or Cryptosporidium and if they don't get an emetic the dehydration can kill all to fast. You would hope that another human being would just give you the medication but that is not the world we live in today, makes me sad. A couple of nips and smokes and now you have medication for your loved one. Also the pelican case with the inserts is amazing. Civvies don't always know how important storage is, Pelican is the brand of brands for keeping things dry, warm or cold, organized, and secure. Thank you again for making this video, it's literally a lifesaver.
The idea is awesome. Since this is purely speculative, niche items with almost indefinite shelf life would seem to be the best route. Comfort items to me seem to me to be something that would only be valuable long after a complete fall and at that point would be overly valuable with little available resources to barter for, paper or dirt in Waterworld scenario. My thought would be add things that cannot easily be made but are crucial for living such as fishing hooks and line, broad heads for arrows, salt, pepper, honey, rice, beans, pasta, antiseptics yada yada. Great video
I read a lot of experiences from the Siege of Sarajevo when trying to prep for a city environment and luxury goods were way up there in barter. Make up, cosmetics, hygiene products, alcohol, cigarettes, pocket knives, lighter fluid, tools, even people's marketable practical skills were all traded. The kit you have there is spot on with what I read.
Yeah, the small vices, caffeine and nicotine can become an issue really fast. Those cheap tarps, if you re-enforce the corners/eyelets with Gorilla/duct tape you can get a little more mileage out of them as a tarp. I carry one on day hikes incase it rains/emergencies. They're compact and with the eyelets re-enforced can usually get a season out of them.
Watching your videos are so therapeutic to me
I think this is a kick ass idea, very well executed. I haven’t encountered many people that have given the idea this much thought and prep.
I just found this! What a great idea. I had not thought of the portable aspect of bartering. There are so many different items that could be included. I would have to reconsider the ammo. The seeds were monumental and something probably not on most minds in the early days. NEW sub here. Keep up the great videos. Thank you for your service. Semper Fi.
This is an amazing setup! Love it. Thank you for your service🙏🏻 🇺🇸
Wool blankets can be used with the tarps during colder weather, and the mini bottles of booze don't take much space and should be great for bartering. Good selection of items here. Thanks, and Semper Fi, Mac!
Just subscribed to your channel because of this video. Great idea for storing and transporting barter items.
Refreshing to see something different from a prep channel.
Thanks
Thanks for the ideas. You have quite an impressive assortment of barter items. You went all out on the pelican case. Those cases are probably more expensive than all of the items you have in it put together. Some wet wipes, small bottles of rubbing alcohol, toilet paper, iodized salt packets, life straws, firestarter magnifying glasses, are just a few others that might help.
First video of its type and first video from your channel I've seen. Just subscribed on the innovation and strength of it. Looking forward to seeing your other videos. Semper Fi brother!
Awesome kit. Thanks for sharing. Add condoms to this kit because SHTF will not stop that train.
This was a great idea! Well thought out and executed. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent idea... had never even considered a travel bartering kit but I will now. Keep up the great content.
Thanks much! Let me know if you build out one
Thank You for your service! And awesome setup!👊
Good video, I hadn’t thought about a full blown barter kit, you’ve got my mind working now!
Me too.
Tanpons, pads, nail clippers, tweezers would be good too have too. This is pretty genius, I would have never thought of making a barter kit.
nice work Marine. Bic lighters and "airlines" of liquor will be of tremendous value in such a prep kit.
Every time I buy beer, I buy a tiny bottle of liquor. Which means I have alot of tiny liquor bottles.!! Great barter item!
I like the socks, a few ideas would need hand sanitizer, wet ones wet wipes, dollar store oral gel, pepto tablets, instant coffee packets, packets of freeze dried milk.
You're thinking right with the smokes, shooters, socks and pain killers. Small luxuries and vises that we take for granted.
The MRE video would be great. I keep looking for a food that doesn’t require a lot of prep (I have those food survival bars are last ditch for a reason).
Love the bartering kit idea, ingenious. 👍
What you could add is some of those powdered drink mixes that come in singles, like coffee, or energy fruit drinks, you could use a drinking straw, fill it with some salt or other individual spices, make them about an inch or two long, and seal them off with some pliers and a lighter. Lighters, keep lighters to barter. Altoids tins of fishing gear. Feminine products. Love the miniatures of liquor idea. You also don’t want to drink them though because you don’t want to be buzzed, drunk or have slowed reactions in a SHTF situation.
Super good idea. Gonna do something similar. Keep ‘em coming brother.
I never thought about the little 2oz bottles that's an amazing idea for bartering
Good job. I live in the same basic area. Silcock keys to trade in the urban areas might be a good addition. We have plenty of commercial buildings to get water from with those keys.
Damn I never thought about a barter kit.. I just figured the stronger will take what they want and leave you bleeding by the side of the road.. At 70 now I am not as strong as I used to be.. But I still have the training, the will and the wits to overcome and adapt.. For me though it will be more escape and evade.. But I like that idea very much.. Especially when I finally do sell the farm there will be something left to help someone.. Good man..
Just joined your channel, 1st and foremost , thank you for your service to our country. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos.
What's up brutha? New to your channel first time here now. I'm your brother devil dog. I retired from the Seabees in 2013 and am a prepper too. I love your prep ideas with pelican cases. Semper Fi.
Awesome list. Great video. Thank you
I’m glad I found your channel! Thank you for the information, this will help me build out my 2000 ford ranger. Recently added a camper top and roof rack. Just need to get solar and secondary battery system.
Great video. I have a barter stash also. That I can throw in or onto a vehicle. But mine is focused on the liquor, weed, batteries, tobbaco, hunting ammo, food and candy. Because when the convince stores are closed. People want their "comfort items". But these are just short term bartering things. Easy to transport and use.
Love your responses to the comments. Level-headed.
God bless and protect you.
🇨🇱 (Central)🇺🇸✝️🙏❤️❤️❤️
Thanks much.
Well done kit. It's like a portable amazon store great for many applications. You covered alot of bases with this kit. Love the heirloom seed idea. Going to incorporate a trade kit into my preps. Thanks!!
No problem
For a cheap tradeable flashlight, I recommend stocking up on the $1 flashlights from Walmart's hunting/sporting goods section. They're surprisingly good for just a buck.
I like your family safety ideas , keep it up.
Great video, you included a few things that I had not considered.
Your stuff is really good, and your prepping ideas are really good to learn from. Thx
I like this set up! I have a few items for trade in my bug out bag but I like this set up for regular trade.
I might suggest adding TP, baby wipes.
Great video!
I am in the process of making a longer go bag. One slot is going to be devoted to a portable library of sorts. Once hunkered down and warm, reading something maybe informative and relaxing.
I got some good ideas from this vid and your EDC truck kits. Great job, thanx for the info. Semper fi brother.
Love these containers,Well made, trade stuff ... give them the worst you have... Hide the best.
Awesome box! I've been prepping since 2005 & I have seen many videos about prepping but I was impressed by yours. If you have a food saver machine, portion some rice, salt, sugar & beans...those are good for bartering as well. Greetings from your new subscriber from Orlando, FL :)
Brother im glad i found your channel...keep up the good work...this is a great idea..
Absolutely a fantastic idea !!!
I’ve heard people talk about having items on hand to barter but a kit, hell yes! I’d watch the chocolate (melt)
I’d keep a couple of ferro rods and sawyer minis in there
I say this because a lot of people won’t even have the basics of survival
Gear. That would cover fire water
Nice lighters as well
Damn I never thought a out a bartering kit, good idea!
I’m very new to the Emergency preparedness community, and just found your channel, but your content is as good as the big channels! Keep it up.
Thanks much.
Great setup. Great idea's to add to my kit's . thanks!
First time watcher...i'll not miss any of your videos...
Good idea, most of us stock items but to have a kit set up ready to trade is great!
This something that has never crossed my mind lol. Great idea thought!
I have LOTS of 50ml bottles of whiskey. I also have inexpensive ferro rods, inexpensive pocket knives, socks, and bar soap. I don't have anything that is perishable or with an expiration date. I would NOT trade ammo. However, the idea of a transportable kit (as a mobile STORE) is a GREAT idea. Thanks for the video. It was very well presented and had helpful ideas (trash bags, cordage, playing cards, etc.)! THANKS!!!
Np. Hopefully you check out my other content.
Old constitutional silver might be a good idea. Silver dimes are a good option because they are small and relatively low premium fractional. $5 roll of dimes is small enough that it doesn't take up much space either.
Great video, I never really thought about bartering supplies. Great idea.
Thanks for watching!
Just found your channel! Great advice, thanks for sharing. Best wishes from Ireland.
I never thought of putting together a bartering kit. That is a great idea! I'm going to start working on that kit straight away! I watched some of your early videos, Marine X, and you had some good ideas back then. Let me say that you have come along way with the quality of the content in your videos! I'm glad to see your channel picking up views. FYI: There is one school of thought that says in a "Mad Max" total meltdown of society, 50 round boxes of .22 long rifle will be the new currency. Whenever you trade your ammo keep that in mind! That will be a very valuable item. The outcome of the 2024 election will determine how bad things will get in America.
Great video this the best I have seen on your channel..really enjoyed it
Another good video, thank you for your service, Semper Fi . Lock and load .
This rocks brother, thank you.
Your videos are great, I got some ideas for my Get Home Bag from you! Thanks! Subbed.
Thanks. More to come.
Great Idea. Most of those items have good use so you will do well.well thought out.
I love this idea
Thanks for the ideas, great variety
This is brilliant.
i never thought of a barter box great idea im going to get started right away on mine
another thing i may throw in mine is hand warmers
Man you have some great ideas! Just subscribed, keep it up
Outstanding video!
Some work gloves, nitrile gloves, and even some spices would be good (salt, pepper, etc...)
Great kit i keep a stash of bartering stuff too. Pretty similar to yours, i also keep tobacco, rolling papers, and high proof vodka(spyrytus or everclear) has a lot of uses other than abusing your liver. I also have a good stock of salt, pepper, and sugar.
