    I think lockpicks are a good inclusion for Urban survival. Would also swap out the case of cable fittings for a Rolling Square Incharge X, its smaller, lighter, has all you need with faster transfer speed as well.
    The Fresnal lens was also a great suggestion. Maybe i missed it, but an army style can opener would also be very useful.

      Lock picks are great... if you know how to use them. At this point, I am only practised in tumbler locks. Maybe for the 2025 edition! Yes, the Leatherman Signal has a can opener.

    Great kit and shows you put much thought and analysis into setting it up for your situation! I didn’t see a cotton bandana in the kit even though you have at least one backup for the other 9 C’s of survival. You spent good money to have a reliable ladder setup, now you need a solution on how to retrieve it once you’re at the bottom….if you need to reuse it to escape the building.

    You should put a roll of electrical tape in your pack. Very small. If I needed to really make a run for the hills I have got most things in my deer hunting pack and my camping stuff in a waterproof sack.
    I have a plastic bucket that I can strap to my pack with already attached straps. I use this to sit on while deer hunting but I can fit a large jacket inside of it

    Nice BOB setup, i’m sure it is appropriate for your climate, i’m in Montreal, Canada so we get ‘real winters’ and my BOB is setup accordingly…
    Suggestion for a separate video: a ‘pocket stuffers bag’ to keep with your BOB which has inexpensive items you may want to use immediately or put in your pockets for later use then abandon/ditch whatever is not needed.
    I’m thinking of things such as a dollar store emergency poncho, chemlight/lightstick, hardware store gloves and safety glasses, single public transit ticket, protein bar, ear plugs, cheap pry bar and anything else you may need in short order if you have to run out quickly with your bug out bag.

    I would consider dropping and that folding knife since if you have a good multi-tool and a good fixed blade knife then that should take care of all your tool related needs as well as the need for a primary and a secondary cutting implement. Also as a guy who scout carries a fixed blade everyday depending on what you wear you can actually hide a scout carry fixed blade quite easily and effectively.
    I would also suggest having a good shemagh in there just for the hell of it. Even though it's not a necessity it is very useful and it can be used for a variety of different things.
    And if I missed it I apologize but some duct tape as well. specifically a to go roll of gorilla tape.
    And I do have to ask what are the odds that you'll actually end up getting to or needing to use that ladder you have?

    This finally showed up in my feed, or I somehow missed it. Glad to see you.
    Your bag is well thought out and comprehensive. You may want to have purification tablets in your small kit. I’m still trying to balance what items to keep with a go bag that I would want to pocket immediately vs what should stay in the bag. I think realistically for most people that fire, flood, or earthquake would be the most likely scenario for bugging out. I recently thought about adding a few cans of energy drinks to my bag for morale and a quick shot of energy. Also the cans could be useful to make an alcohol stove, candle lantern, small cooking vessel, you get the idea.
    About your respirator a pre-filter might be a useful addition especially if the main filters work for chemicals.
    Great content as always. Take care 😊

      During my years as a L.E.O. an EMT-B & a volunteer with the American Red Cross, I've seen hazmat evacuations, tornados, apartment fires, & assorted other disasters that could force bugging out in an urban environment...
      What I've never ever seen is anyone stop & build a campfire.
      Could someone PLEASE explain the obsession preppers have with carrying 5 different knives & 14 different ways to start a fire????
      Even in a wilderness big out...which isn't actually feasible in the long term....most BOB's display radical overkill on knives & fire starters.

  • @simplefieldcraft

    I would say bin the ladders and replace with a rope. For the examples given a rope would be just as effective to climb up and down and can be retrieved easier. Also has multiple uses whereas the ladder is a single use only or possibly used as a casualty stretcher. Didn’t see a tourniquet would think about adding one be it a SOFT-T or CAT tq. Replace the wrecking bar with wire cutters if you need to access a building most have windows or glass doors easy to break in. Wire cutters get through chain link fence more stealthy to access a hide site. Bin the 3x3 tarp just use your poncho replace with a collapsible umbrella great for sudden tropical rain. Pack 6 bulldog clips. Used with the poncho and umbrella to make a low profile tunnel tent for stealthy camping. Umbrella can be used to gather clean rain water. Think about what is essential to cross load into pockets or have in a bum bag that can be grabbed if you need to ditch the main bag and run. Think can I run 5-10km carrying this 12kg bag? That’s all I can think of for now.

    • @urbanknifeguy
      @urbanknifeguy  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for your detailed and well thought out comments. Interestingly, we have very little chain link fences around for some reason. At least in this area or part of the city. Will upgrade the tourniquet. Umbrella is a good idea with multiple uses that I don't see mentioned. I have a bushcraft/ Survival Belt that will likely complement this kit. Thanks again.

    I'm glad you got rid of a bag with molle. People will target molle type bags. If that bag was a colour other than black it would be less noticeable. I like the look of the bag. Does it have a charging port on the one side, I couldn't figure out what I was seeing.
    I can see why you chose the signal as it had the hammer head which all other multi tools are missing.
    One suggestion to your tool kit would be to add a 100mm Knipex cobra grip plier or 150mm if it will fit. The cobra's grip tighter that anything you could grip with the Signal.

      I think you’ll find it really doesn’t matter now days how tactical a bag looks. You will get targeted anyway because you have a bag that is carrying something. Just sit in a city centre and watch people and you’ll see loads of tactical looking bags. The grey man theory is for times of calm and you want to move through an area without bringing attention to yourself. If in disaster or civil unrest then everyone is on the move and no one is comparing what bag you have to what you may be possibly carrying in it. Just don’t wear military clothes normal civilian clothing will do.

    I didn't see this any where, but just thought about it. What do you think of a small bag that you clip to the outside of your bag, that are only items that you would put on your person (e.g. in your pockets) like a lighter, paracord bracelet, gloves, automatic watch, if you don't normally wear one, etc.
    That way if youre in an emergency you don't have to search through your bag and know what to do first.
    Maybe even put a piece of candy or gum in there to remind you to stop, get your bearings and focus. Maybe have a container filled with water ( not the one you carry with you) for the same reason.
    Could even have a written check list of things to do and check before moving on.

    • @urbanknifeguy

      @alimfuzzy 5 месяцев назад
