I ended up getting this unit and am pleased with it. The versatility of just being able to boil water increases my meal options while on the road dramatically.

I do hope you get enough use from it to make it pay for itself and in the meantime, your propane will last a little longer, so that goes toward recouping the cost too. One thing about you not recommending it is that you are REALLY careful with your things and not everyone is able to be. Another good one.
Excellent review, this reminds me of a hot pot I bought from Amazon, it's plastic on the outside, stainless on the inside, and I had the same problem with the cord being as short as yours, in a couple of months from inserting, and removing the plug after each use, it became loose and the pot would not stay in the on position from the plug being worn 🤩👍🏻 Thanks for the thorough, honest review 😊
I’m in market for mini electric kettle; your review helped bring out some important things to think of - I.e., on:off switch and a pour spout. A quick Amazon search has several options. Comparing with an electric mug that mixes drinks 😃 For now, my travels allow me a o simply hit McDs or Loves, etc, for coffee fix. I do like bulletproof coffee, which requires a good mixer for the butter. Good luck in your travels.

There are “Pouring Kettles” that are basically what you are describing. They are used by adding boiled water to the kettle as they boil over easily since they are so small.

You did'nt waste Your money on that one. put a beef boullon cube in it, add some sausages, and cover them with water. Once the water boil, turne it off, and leave it for 20 minutes. Voila, lunch is ready ;.-) The size of You solar panel are the problem. A lot can be done with the 300 wh. you have, so if You can, then put as many solar panels on your roof as You can.

If the small electric kettle doesn't "pan" out longterm, you might take a look at the small aluminum or titanium alcohol stoves (really a burner with a custom-fit windscreen/potstand) made by Trail Designs. Evernew makes .75 and 1.0 L pasta pots with spout and lid that could be just the ticket for you. Small enough to fit in your sink during use -- and the fuel is quite cheap and efficient with this equipment. (I browned some ground beef in a pot in less time than it would have taken on the kitchen stove.) Looks like the low end cost would be around $100, and right now, unfortunately, they are having some trouble sourcing the correct aluminium sheet for fabrication of the Caldera Cone, as it's called.
Scott ...toss a couple rubber feet on the kettle and sure it will stay in place when you pull the plug.....or simply get a longer plug, as it appears to be a typical 3 prong grounded plug that's common.... actually have a drawer filled with odds and ends like that. Next dump trip, you might be able to scavenge a cord off of an item.... it's so low powered, pretty sure you don't have to worry about the Guage/thickness/length. good luck, enjoy you new toys! Another question, ever think of getting a couple flexible, flat solar panels that store easily? just lean then against the side of the van when parked, store then against the wall when not in use. YOU MIGHT be able to use the current solar charger, maybe not...but might be worth looking at since you are sitting a bit more lately.

The opening on the lid is for safety. Giving the accumulated steam a place to vent is necessary. Although the lid is so warped and ill fitted, this particular kettle vents all around the lid.

i wonder if you have tried the balbali portable kettle, uses 350 watts not 300 like description says, but it is awesome. bpa free food safe stainless steel. looks great as well. very portable with the carry wrist strap on it. boils water to 212 in around 6 minutes, 12 ounces.
I haven't made full use of my Jackery functions, so please correct me if I'm wrong: my understanding is that the 12v uses less power, so would using an adapter be an idea? Also, it could add more to the overall length of the cord?
The Kettle is an AC powered device. It needs to be plugged into AC to operate. There are 12volt powered kettles on the market, but they heat water much more slowly. I prefer to operate my kettle on the floor because it’s safer. I’m almost always parked on an unleveled surface, which would increase the possibility of a tip-over. An extension cord could be used, but not safely for my normal parking areas.
If you had it to do over again would you buy the one you mentioned in the beginning that was more popular? Just curious. Thank you for the review! I always enjoy your videos.
Looking at the cord you showed us it looks like a normal desk top computer power cable. I use to have dozens of those things around. Maybe check a used computer store and see if you can get one. Doubt it should be more than $5.00 for one. Those are between 3 to 4 feet long.

I want one for my battery back ups power supply surge protector to have direct current boiling hot tea. lol. given its basically the half life of caffeine to recharge it. lol.
If it takes 7 min to boil water in this thing, it should be pulling 35W per boil. However, if it's eating up 30% of your 300w PB it's actually pulling 90W per boil. That's almost 3 times the advertised power usage. If that's not false advertising I don't know what is. If I were you I would send it back and try another model/brand. Power consumption 200% over the advertised is a real bummer in my book 😒
Did you factor in the loss from Rockpals inverter? As far as efficiency, this kettle has saved me a lot of propane over the last few weeks. Which is significant because I need to drive somewhere to buy propane.

Remember that electricity here in the States is 120v not 220v so our kettles operate much slower.

It has yet to automatically shut off. Maybe because I’m at elevation. Although it didn’t work in Las Vegas, either.

I like my eggs boiled for 12 minutes, then you can put them back in the refrigerator and eat them on the trail.

Yes, lots of people swap the cord out for a longer computer cord. But as I’m using this on the floor, I won’t be investing any money in another cord.
I have a collapsible ac electric and a 12V aluminum coffee thermo cup that boil water fast. The electric one is only 350 watts.

No. The lid is very warped. The lid is also designed in a way that boiling water will spray all over if trying to pour through the lid.

Most of these kettles were designed to operate on 220v. They would be much more efficient if we had 220v versus 120v.
