- We just passed the one month mark for my Poshmark Liquidation sale and I have some exciting updates for you! I filmed today's video from my hotel room in NYC. I'm here with Jay (for one of his work trips). I was excited to stumble upon a super high end thrift store called Cure Thrift! I give you a little tour of this exquisite shop! I hope you enjoy it!

Let's be real, PM did this to make themselves more money. They are selling the fee to buyers as a Buyer Protection Fee ... What were they doing before?
Mercari did the same thing!! Andbis charging 2.00 to transfer a balance to the bank.

I have 3800+ active Poshmark listings (women’s clothes, accessories, home décor) and sales are tracking the same, but I’m offering higher discounts. I can’t sell on eBay (long story) so I’ll cross-list on Mercari or Etsy. I was ok with the 20% fee as I’d priced it into my listing already. The new structure is hard to calculate and a real turn-off to buyers. I wish Poshmark had simply split the 20% into 15% seller/5% buyer or something like that and come up with a new benefit to justify charging buyers.
There are a lot of interesting thrift stores in NYC, hope you get to visit more when you come down to see your son. Glad your sale is still going strong, amazing strength to go to 60% but the less inventory you have for when your carpet is replaced the better off you’ll be. My sales in Poshmark (which is my only platform) have been terrific, more than I’ve done previously. Love getting more money but I have actually lost some for those $15 sales (make more if it’s $14 so adjusting prices accordingly).

Fun trip to NYC! I jist made several purchases on Poshmarl last week and yes, there were additional fees. I almost did not order some of my items and my sales have declined . The fee is listed as "Tax & Buyer Protection Fee" and for one of my items was more than the tax ☹
Both Becky Park and Mogibeth's videos on fee changes are very informative. MB is very mathematically accounting oriented. Same as viewer you read comments from, I'm making no sales even at deep discounts.
I am not sure what I think about it. My sells this last week end where great .

I'm doing ok with sales, and making a bit more on each one because of the new fee structure. Especially satisfying when I sell a more expensive item! It almost seems PM is trying to discourage those items under $20. But then you see them promoting under $20 on the feed page. So who knows...
At about $23 per sale & $5 cog you’re at $18 profit but how much are shipping supplies, gasoline to get to the thrift store Crosslisting service, taxes & the cost to pay an employee, what would be left? It’s a hypothetical, lol, don’t answer that. But that’s what I’m trying to figure out for my business & if it’s really worth it. You can make videos on the sales so that leads to more revenue so that’s a plus. Just wondering how others are making it work if they aren’t getting high sales anymore with the fee change. I’d have to cross list myself & not have an employee if sales go down any further. Just a thought. But to get rid of inventory & start fresh, this is what you have to do & I think you’re doing awesome. It’s a good choice.
Thanks for mentioning the new fees in the US. However I am from Canada and our fee structure has not changed but I haven't had a sale for the last week. I keep listing & sending offers but nothing sells. It's very depressing.
I was hoping there wouldn't be another fee to Canadians because they already did a big jump around 2 years ago with the shipping and taxes.
Canadian here as well, but finding things have been slow since summer. Sending 40% offers and no sales whatsoever. It could also be the Canadian market. I could see things getting worse if the fee structure changes here as everything is just more expensive (shipping, taxes etc). Hope things pick up for us all.
I hate the buyer's fees... I would rather they go up on the seller. Poshmark has 100% slowed down since the fee, in fact, I had a $70 sale cancel on the first day of the fee stating the fee (a very large Item I would have loved to see go out the door with poshmark shipping LOL). I was having 1 or 2 sales a day and now lucky to have a sale a week. I have about 300 pieces of inventory... clothes and jewelry mostly with some knick knacks tossed in. Mercari has died and have maybe 2 sales a month now. I do free shipping on Mercari and that doesn't even help. I am a full time Appraiser, which I hate... but I guess, I can't complain because its makes the $$ when platforms do stupid things LOL.

Ahh, I love it!
One thing I am not hearing anyone talking about, is Poshmark is also automatically giving discounted shipping ($5.95) to all ambassadors. So if you notice on your listings, it says "discounted shipping" under the price. So the buyer is getting about a $2 savings. However I am so confused about the new few structure. On Poshmark if you look under seller fees, it says the exact same thing as it does if you look under buyer fees.

Yes I’ve seen in my closet “ buy from this closet and get $5.99 shipping, also at a show I was in was first 3 orders get free shipping?
But only until end of year.
But it ends in December which isn't far away. Then they very likely will be charging for that feature.
Buyer and seller fees are now the same - that’s why you’re not seeing a difference in the language.
My sales have not been impacted at all from the new fee structure. My sales are still steady and I'm making a higher profit tbh❤

It is becuase of Mercari. Mercari has been more successful with sales and they have a buyer fee structure.
Poshmark definitely almost non-existence for me even at 30% off:(

Lori - I’m giving you a pass since you’re not from NYC. I’ve been to Cure “Thrift” and it is ridiculously overpriced (priced higher than eBay), the staff are snooty and the owner is a nightmare. I agree that it is beautifully curated but there is a lot of speculation as to whether or not it really is non-profit. Sorry but sometimes the truth is ugly. You should go to Urban Jungle in Brooklyn. Cheers, Katia
Haha, I think having "THRIFT" anywhere in their name is definitely a stretch. I'm bummed to hear that the staff isn't nice. It was such a beautiful space. Prices were definitely next level but I really enjoyed looking at everything. Maybe I'll take the train to Brooklyn tomorrow! xoxo
