  • I can't believe my craniotomy was 6 months ago now. Here is my update on my recent MRI results and I'm sorry I kept you waiting so long! I had 1 MRI before surgery, 1 right after and 1 every 12 weeks since then so this was my 4th in 6 months 😅
    I'm so grateful for all of lovely people who have supported me throughout this health journey. Thank you ❤️
    More videos coming ASAP I promise 😊

    As a nurse, I LOVE seeing my patients and families out in the community. Years ago I was a nurse at The Children’s Hospital, Boston. I had taken care of this sweet baby after she had open heart surgery. 1 year later, I’m in Porter Square, going into a pub and I heard my name. It was the mum with the little girl. Both looked amazing. I wish you all the best and much love from SW France.

    People who accuse you of lying about this stuff baffle me, complete weirdos.
    Pleased to hear you had a good MRI result, sending best wishes Eireann.

      @rebel4466 4 месяца назад +14

      I'd agree in general, but there are also weird people on social media, faking stuff. The bad thing with anything cancer is that people have some pre-conceived images in their head of what a cancer patient should look like. If people think you look "healthy" (whatever that means), they doubt your story. If you look sick, you can bullshit them easily.

    • @YvieT81
      @YvieT81 4 месяца назад +8

      @rebel4466 honestly I literally know someone who made it up... She had breast cancer once and then claimed it had returned and she was going to die, which eventually turned out to be a lie. Totally insane! But those cases are very, very rare! Normally sane people do NOT make this kind of stuff up and accusing someone of lying simply because you can't see the scar tissue is equally insane!

    • @andreae.

      Same. I will never forget when a few years ago a beauty RUclipsr got diagnosed with terminal brain cancer (Samantha Jaelle), and a couple of days before she passed some people were still accusing her of being a scammer who just wanted a free holiday. Unbelievable. Some people have no empathy...

    • @YvieT81
      @YvieT81 4 месяца назад +4

      @andreae. I think I saw that not long ago.. Was she a young girl? Even after she died I saw trolls spitting nasty things on her page. Can't believe how sick some people can be!

    • @mariposavioleta9007
      @mariposavioleta9007 4 месяца назад +1

      I agree with you but sadly this is a reality for many who get sick either cancer or chronic illnesses or disabilities. I've gone through it for many years and even though it's hard can see that with all the scammers out there that many are skeptical.

  • @jdshndr

    Hi! Physio student here! You should look up the path of the trigeminal nerve as a couple of it's branches run close to where your scar is. It could have become more sensitized from surgery, and nerves if damaged regenerate very slowly. Also it makes sense if it's only on one side of your face from the middle as that's the path of the nerve!

    I can't express to you in words how happy I am to hear from you! I was so worried about you. I don't really use Instagram because I am blind and the Instagram app is not the most user-friendly for blind people, since it mostly has to do with photos. When I saw this just now I was genuinely relieved. I'm sending you a big hug. I don't understand how or what kind of twisted brains people have to accuse you of lying about what you have been through, I don't understand how anyone would do that I think your encounter with your doctor at the Bar is super cool and he sounds Like a guardian angel in a way. If you can, please keep us posted. I will try and see if I can follow you on Instagram but as I said I have trouble with that app because the screen reader doesn't make a lot of sense when you are on the app. Big hugs

    I've also had beers with a neurosurgeon before. But it wasn't one that treated me. It was the dad of a close friend of mine. Kinda funny that she had her brain tumor removal by someone else. It feels like these highly intelligent professionals aren't human anymore, but the guy was/is very down to earth. After all he has seen in all the stages of his medical career, it felt like he was very "normal". Like he didn't really care about what others might think or what would happen in the grand scheme of things. He was just himself. Not trying to impress anyone, not trying to fool anyone or be seen as someone that he isn't. That's rare in people today.

    Dear Éireann, it's so good to see you post again. I think a lot of us were getting really worried about you. It does sound like good news about the MRI and your breathing getting back to normal. You've obviously got a very good relationship with your neurosurgeon as well and how nice of him to get all your drinks after your chance encounter in the bar! It's a pity you can't take him back with you to Ireland. It's understandable if you don't feel like posting about everything that's going on in your life. We have no right to know these details yet I suppose we do want to know, simply because we care so much about you now. I would love to emulate your neurosurgeon and give you a hug and Devin too! You're both amazing people and you clearly have such a strong bond between you which will give you both so much strength in the weeks and months ahead. Also remember how much love and support you have got on here. I'm appalled that you're still getting trolled and disbelieved by a small handful of idiots. Take no notice of them, if you can, they are not worth a moment of your time. With love and best wishes, Rob (and daughter Soph) in North Wales xx

    I am so happy to hear from you again, Eireann! And, I am thrilled to know that you are doing well. Just want to say that like you I am a cancer survivor for almost 3 years now. What I am very thankful for now is the Canadian Healthcare system. Not only did I get a good oncologist in one of the best cancer hospitals in the world (Princess Margaret Hospital), but also the no worry on my dozens of blood tests, xrays, MRI, scans, shots, hospital supplies, nurse visits at home, regular surgeon check-ups and hospital stays. We tend to overlook this part sometimes, but I know I will always be appreciative especially when I am only paying for my parking fee at the hospital or clinic for my check-ups! On top of that, I will be monitored for the next 7 years of my life every 4 months with no money up front to pay! The simple thought of not paying any thing to my doctors, the hospital/clinic, and my numerous tests along the way will help me focus on my recovery. Aside from cancer remission, the best feeling is leaving the hospital and clinics without any fees to pay! Yes, you just say thank you and leave OUT THE DOOR! No long list of itemized fees to go over to check and pay first before being allowed to go home! THANK YOU, CANADA! ♥All the best to you Eireann, and take care! I am glad that you got your Canadian Health Card that entitled you to free healthcare here in Canada because we know how astronomical healtcare bills are for non-Canadians. PS: Your oncologist is really cool!

    Glad to hear you can breathe normally now. Your medical team should have fixed that much quicker. I've watched all of your episodes. You are a natural at speaking in front of a camera. Very sorry you are struggling with brain tumours. I have a friend who has been dealing with brain cancer for 2 years. The specifics of her case are very different from yours. But there is alot in common too, such as dealing with medications, doctors not returning your calls, and visits to doctors that seemed silly after the fact! It's a good idea to go back to your home country and assemble a team of doctors there. We have found that dealing with doctors, medications, and hospitals gets easier with time. Hope you keep posting.

    I'm super happy to hear you are doing a lot better now!
    The nerve pain you are getting around your eyebrows reminds me a lot of my mothers pain after her brain injury. She was offered Botox first and then put on Pregabalin to help with the pain. If you arent on something already that could be worth looking into. ❤

      Yes I am on Pregabalin (Lyrica ) 3x day and it’s a miracle I don’t have excruciating pain in head with it . I couldn’t even touch my head.

    This is VERY unlikely, assuming you have regular blood work-- ask for a BMP to check your potassium.
    I had a very similar issue last November. The only difference is my face didn't have to be touched to feel the numbness/tingling. My potassium was critically low-- I ended up spending a week in the hospital.
