  • Heather and Cornelius celebrated 13 years of marriage recently. They sat down to have an honest and open conversation about what they've learned. They talk about expectations, learning how to converse with each other, dealing with inner trauma, deciding not to get divorced, learning how to trust again and so much more. Whether you're married, engaged, dating or living single in these streets, there's something for you.

I like the idea of letting the other be who they are in marriage. But it must also be taken with a pinch of salt. the whole idea of marriage is coming together to do life together…and a big part of that means compromise so that you can accommodate the other person. If we are left to just be who we are and do what we want then I don’t see the point of marriage. Maybe that’s a good idea for a single person. I believe marriage teaches us how to put the other person’s needs and their interest sometimes before ourselves, being accommodative of each other. Love is not self seeking but these days relationships are all about thinking of one’s own needs and what they are gaining before that of the other person. The greatest example of love is the love that God has for us. You love someone that you die for them, their life is more important than yours. Marriage is about giving up, denying yourself, compromising for the sake of the other person. May the Lord help us. Thank you for sharing and Happy Anniversary ❤
