  • April 13, 2023 - My review of the Warehouse 1001xx Duck Digger 1947 (DD47) jean. This is a reproduction of the 1947 Levi 501. The Duck Digger line is Warehouse's hardcore reproduction line. I have worn these 18 times without washing them at this point, and they seem to be my most successful denim exploration yet. I think they are more than worth their price. These can be purchased at Standard and Strange, Hinoya, James Dant Purveyors, Clutch Cafe, Blue Owl.

    Toyota started as a loom maker. That's why they're logo is a needle eye with a thread through it.

      Oh wow, totally didn’t know that! Thanks so much for this comment. I went and did some research of my own just now, and you’re definitely right. Toyoda started making looms and then eventually changed the spelling of the name to use a “d” as they transitioned into auto manufacturing. Very cool. I’ll pin your comment 👍🏽 Thanks again

    Thanks for the taking the time to pour over the DD denim. I have that pair of well faded 1001s that I tagged you in on rawdenim a few weeks ago, but they aren’t duck digger. To that point, in considering getting the DD 1101s. Think your video sold me on it, not that I needed convincing.
    But man, glad you’re hyped on WH! They really mail the jeans on so many levels. They’re the only denim I’m fully invested in now, aside from any true vintage Levi’s I find in the wild.

      Oh hey! Yeah, your jeans were so good that I saved that post. One of the cooler Warehouse fades I’ve seen. And I’m glad the review kinda pushed you over the edge. As you already know better than I, Warehouse is just so on point. I don’t think I’ve ever felt this good about a jean purchase before.

    Thought I was alone on the small pocket issue 😂 thanks so much for bringing that up. Had this whole debate with myself last week about even investing in selvedge jeans anymore. Been through so many brands and models that do this! I love my Iron Heart 888 14oz, but it's an acrobatic performance getting my wallet out at the drive-thru.

    • @thevintagefuture6567
      @thevintagefuture6567  Год назад +1

      The small pocket issue 😂 It’s so deflating haha….This is part of the reason I went with high rise denim- many of them have more room. If you like tapered, Japanese brands like Oni and Tanuki (maybe PBJ) have a great high rise tapered jean. What kind of cut is IH 888?

    • @ramzhi_
      @ramzhi_ Год назад +2

      @@thevintagefuture6567 I'd say the 888 is a combination of all that, medium/high rise (like 16 inches depending on the size chosen), roomy top block, more or less straight in the thigh, and a gradual taper from the knee. Probably my favorite cut of theirs and of many others

    • @ramzhi_
      @ramzhi_ Год назад +1

      @@thevintagefuture6567 they make it sound like a large man's cut, but I have a similar build as you, and for my taste it's a flattering tapered fit

    You know the warehouse arcuates are designed so you can undo half of it and it’ll turn into Levi’s arc. Just a workaround the patent restrictions

      @@thevintagefuture6567 I have a very nerdy question lol… I’m planning on getting these hemmed today. Would you recommend hemming them less to account for extra shrinkage? Mine came unsanforized and I gave them two hot soaks. Not sure if it’s safe to hem at my ideal length, I haven’t worn these yet.

    I really appreciate the pouring over the details of levi repro jeans. I definitely want to try some WH Duck Diggers in the future. Slowly fading out my Ooe Yofukuten OA01XXs.
    Also good for you for calling out pocket size. We need to be making functional front pockets. IMO Greasepoint are about the only brand doing it right with their angled relaxed pocket shape. IMO one of the only fallacies of the original 501 style that has proliferated far too long. ANyway love your content my man keep ranting about it all, Peace & Love bro

      @@thevintagefuture6567 I picked them up in the S & S drop August ‘22. I love them, knowing they were put together by the two people is staggering. I’d been accustom to heavier weight denims like IH 21oz so the 13.5 fabric was really nice to experience, definitely a long-term fader. I’ve washed them a couple times and they are breaking in nicely. Going to post them on r/rawdenim eventually keep an eye out 😉

    I’ve had my eyes on these for a while as a big fan of other Warehouse stuff, especially the t shirts. Your soapbox about front pockets had me laughing! I especially can’t stand the tiny pockets on my Flat Head pair. I think the best pockets I’ve experienced have been on the TCB 20’s, but that probably comes natural with the wider cut.

    • @thevintagefuture6567

      In my experience: Flat Head, Black Sign, many cuts of Naked and Famous except True Guy, some Bravestar cuts. I’m sure there are many others, but I haven’t tried them. I think the repro brands often have the best front pockets. And small pockets are more common with slim denim. But there are still some straight fits with pathetically small front pockets.
