On your topic of soda, which is called pop in the UK. So basically, about 2 years ago, I gave up the pop as I had major toothache. It took 2 and a half years to get my tooth removed because it was decayed because of pop. The reason it took so long is because the NHS waiting list is bad and finding a dentist that would take you on as there's less dentist in the uk. The worst 2 and a half years of my life. If I'm in a restaurant, then I kind of have no option to drink it to not look weird asking can I have a drink of water. After not drinking it for a long time makes it tastes different. It tastes bad not only that you become so gasy you burp uncontrollably. I would recommend everyone to stop drinking it.
