That's because his real world/teen self is a total bro friend and all around awesome and nice person to be around. XD Hero is pretty great too, but we don't get to see him as much sadly until the end. :( But when he does show him... Shit man, it was literally thanks to him the most I think that got everyone back together and tried to stop Aubrey and Kel from going crazy on each other and Sunny and Basil from drowning and stuff. :O He may be named after a sandwich or something, but the dude is kind of an actual hero to me. XD (Which is funny how easy his dream world self can become corrupt though when he becomes the new mafia boss, LOL. :p). The only other best bro friend I can think of at the moment in recent times at least is Erik from Dragon Quest XI I guess. :p

I gotta say, Autumn Break is very close to replicating the original game. You could probably convince me it is some sort of DLC if I didn’t know about it prior. Gotta respect how close it is to the Original Game.
Fact: I took my time and actually died on the Mari battle. She said something like "sunny, are you okay?" and then a game over screen. Dude. Uncool.(and inevitable)
It is a great concept but with what happens between Mari's death and Omori's birth is not accurate to the game, theres a LOT of erroneous details such as the toy box not being next to the tree and Basil never even uttering the infamous phrase, "everything is going to be okay". Also the Mari fight overstays its welcome, its implied that the actual fisticuffs between them lasted no more than 10 seconds max, and it wouldn't just creep up on you like Mari telling Sunny to stop halfway through... as if to be slowly building up to the actual shoving action. It really would make it more impactful if the shoving move wasn't... such an event. It feels forced. But rather, have it be something you (Sunny) do by instinct ("get away from me") that leads to her death by accident. After all, thats really what the shove was all about. Sunny just wanted her to move out of the way. Also, based on the unused photo entries, Sunny is implied to create WHITE SPACE right there on the spot as he sits next to the bed in shock of what happened. I wish that was touched upon. Maybe you could just have the Fight command randomly change to "Shove" and the attack text says "Sunny shoved Mari out of his way" and THEN cue the slow animation and cutscene. Thats how you make it feel like an accident
I feel like the player would have to be lulled into a pattern: attacks don't work, so after one ir two treis the player tries to use skills. Once one fails, the next move you try to input would suddenly change to "Shove" in bright red distorted text the instant you touch it with no other animation before the fade to black.
YESS !! you summed it up perfectly!! i was also so mad how light it was and how normla it felt? sunny clearly wasn’t in a rifht state of mind in omori, and he wasn’t really processing anything they were saying. making it nighttime and distorting the screen and text a little would’ve made it so much better
Sad prequel story where you go in knowing what happens at the end. The removal of an important main mechanic alongside a harder adventure overall. Amazing foreshadowing (... Callbacks? Backshadowing?) with a nearly completely different characterization of the main antagonist. This is the Xenoblade Torna of Omori.
Would it be strange to redress a corpse into proper clothes if the original are really bloody and damaged so as to preserve the innocence and beauty their supposed to have, or something? :? If the Mari in the coffin we got to see was more realistic looking, she'd be... Sigh... I don't think she'd be looking quite alright. :( It might be more symbolic than anything. :?
are there any Omori fan games that are pretty much the ideal world and avoid what makes Omori well...Omori? Like a game where Mari never died and the are all friends. Which I guess is headspace but like. A game to play to help you coup with how sad the story is. Every part of me writhes in pain emotionally when I think about Omori. Not just because Mari is dead but also because such a tightly knit friend group is gone. They will never be the same again. Maybe ever even be friends again. It's so crushing to think about. When I first played Omori I lost sleep completely unable to stop thinking about how sad the whole situation of the game was. Even the "happy ending" is still really sad.

Having DID myself, playing Omori and this mod really do give off a vibe of plurality that resonated with us. While the depiction isn’t entirely accurate (Sunny seems to be more of a maladaptive daydreamer than anything, but mental health is a strange and unpredictable beast) I can definitely see it being a story representing DID if you change a few things around c: Funnily enough I have been thinking about writing a mod that leans more heavily into this
This is the second game i played where the plottwist was that the main character pushed someone down some stairs. I am just saying it's weird that it happened twice
This just made me imagine that another way the mod devs could've made the mod end was that instead of showing how Sunny and Basil deal with Mari's death, they could've done it so that as soon as the player selects the push action, the screen turns black and plays a short hand drawn animation of the moment where Sunny pushes Mari, which ends right before she begins to fall down the stairs. After that, the screen turns back to black, and a different version of "close your eyes" begins to play as the credits roll. This version of the song would be questioning Sunny's actions, saying things like "why did you have to do that to her?" "she didn't deserve that" and "you'll regret that" or things along those lines. Just to really sell the player on the "what have you just done, this is how it starts" department.
The fact that enemies in this mod do more damage to the player than in the base game is a brilliant design choice. In Autumn Break, the "incident" hasn't transpired yet, meaning that head space isn't Sunny's safe space yet. When the event does happen, Omori wants sunny to stay recluse in headspace, and why would someone want to stay in a place where the adventures are hard? This is why the damage is lower in the main game, so that Sunny isn't tempted to leave headspace.
I like how the entirety of aubrey's requietedness toward sunny in the real game is limited to a very very missable scene where she gets TWO PIXELS of blush staring at sunny and looks away when he notices. 2 damn pixels.

Both this and the base game just make me appreciate how lucky I am to still be in contact with most of my childhood friends, even if we don’t interact as much anymore. There was no big event that tore us all apart, no one has lost themselves and turned to bullying their former friends, we’re still making new, happy memories together. Sure, I was traumatised by an online gore video when I was 11, which was fucking awful don’t get me wrong, but at least I was the only one who had to go through it. I could always return to my friend group to distract me from the pain, and I didn’t have to deal with the absolute agony of knowing all of their lives had been ruined because of me. And I’m especially grateful to still have my little brother, considering what happened to Mari almost happened to him once.

Sigh... but other than sequel theories, I think reimagining the prequel lore moments we never really got to see is somewhat necessary for us more obsessive fans, even the really tragic and horrifying moments like this. :p And I got to admit, this kind of makes the big fight that happen make more sense. :? Sigh... poor Omori was completely losing it and Mari should still have been easier on him... :( Although... I like the “something”s of this game. Most of the “something”s of the actual game have hints to Mari such as the long hair, or eyes as a reminder of his fears. In this game the fears are still there, just more focussed on how he still had those feelings even when he was younger. The eeriness of them portray how he was a lot younger, and how he had to deal with them.

there where some mistakes with the mod that didnt match up with the origional game with the truth, but it was still a great game and it was funny when it first came out it had so many tiny glitches as grammer mistakes, the mod is so close to perfect but im not dissapointed as i am impressed it was so good and close to perfect

Both this and the base game just make me appreciate how lucky I am to still be in contact with most of my childhood friends, even if we don’t interact as much anymore. There was no big event that tore us all apart, no one has lost themselves and turned to bullying their former friends, we’re still making new, happy memories together. Sure, I was traumatised by an online gore video when I was 11, which was fucking awful don’t get me wrong, but at least I was the only one who had to go through it. I could always return to my friend group to distract me from the pain, and I didn’t have to deal with the absolute agony of knowing all of their lives had been ruined because of me. And I’m especially grateful to still have my little brother, considering what happened to Mari almost happened to him once.

Sigh... but other than sequel theories, I think reimagining the prequel lore moments we never really got to see is somewhat necessary for us more obsessive fans, even the really tragic and horrifying moments like this. :p And I got to admit, this kind of makes the big fight that happen make more sense. :? Sigh... poor Omori was completely losing it and Mari should still have been easier on him... :( Although... I think the real Mari we get to see is definitely a spirit and not a hallucination like the dream world characters that something like End Roll has, or something. :O Unless Sunny is forcing himself to only remember the best parts of her is trying to trick his brain into calming him down himself, the one you see before you get to the underwater place at least seemed like the real her visiting you as a ghost. :? Sigh... if only I could bring myself to believe something like that could be possible, let alone the beautiful friendships in this game... (I recently got into Lucky Star as a manga a few weeks ago by the way after only having seen the anime ages ago thanks to the fact that there's supposed to be new chapters and it's continuing but I haven't seen anything yet. :( Sigh... A youtuber named Hazel brought it up though... I like the “something”s of this game. Most of the “something”s of the actual game have hints to Mari such as the long hair, or eyes as a reminder of his fears. In this game the fears are still there, just more focussed on how he still had those feelings even when he was younger. The eeriness of them portray how he was a lot younger, and how he had to deal with them.

One thing I will say is Mari was put on the mat because of the incident as a way to avoid harm, basil gets the same treatment to stop him from Yknow. Woulda been nice to see Mari move freely. Also, didn’t the incident happen late at night?
honestly, the entire story of omori is just a cautionary tale for child musicians. the pressure really is that bad.

there where some mistakes with the mod that didnt match up with the origional game with the truth, but it was still a great game and it was funny when it first came out it had so many tiny glitches as grammer mistakes, the mod is so close to perfect but im not dissapointed as i am impressed it was so good and close to perfect
This is the kind of fan project where the creator was filled with so much angst during the game they made an outlet for it
