  • A customers brought in his hi-mileage '91 Miata 1.6 with a blown head gasket for repair. It was decided to do a 1.8 swap instead of rebuilding the 1.6. Brandon and Fred go through all the steps they take to remove and replace the motor by dropping the motor and subframe all together.

I was legitimately watching this video thinking how nice it would be to use a lift to do this and then you mentioned that you were in my home town! I will definitely have to keep that in mind here!

This project being a 1.6 to 1.8 swap, including the new motor and all parts needed to install it, including labor was around 7k. Just replacing the 1.6 with a fresh 1.6 would be around 5K so depending upon what you wanted to do anywhere from 5k-8k. I believe this one was financed by the bank of mom.😊

    Would you buy a 97 Miata with 100k miles for $8000 or a 94 M edition with 80k miles for $11000?

What?? No dry ice blasting or powder coating?!? #SpotTheSarahNTunedViewer 🤣 Great job guys. If you ever decide to franchise this idea let us know. I live in an area (Winchester, VA) where there's still a population of people who work on their cars, and I'm one of them. 👍

Im here because I saw a '90 miata with a shortnose crankshaft issue and im tryna see how much work and parts is needed to do a 1.8 swap 😂
This was post covid so prices prolly are already inflated, could you name a ball park dollar figure on how much parts it cost please?
    What an ending! Subbed!

Clutch is (should be) the same. ECU will work but should get one for the 1.8
