Remember people. Battlefield going back to roots mean nothing. The devs that created your favourites are not there anymore.
It's also important to remember that when Battlefield 2042 was still in development, the devs said the same exact thing about going back to the roots.
@@DeadPixel1105exactly.

If you release the Concord review, you will make more than Firewalk Studios did on it.
i wouldn't be so sure from what iv hrear over the years is that youtube really doesn't pay that much so the review likely wont bring in much money which is why they and pretty much every youtuber has a patreon, i'm pretty sure they make more money in one twitch stream from donations then they do from a whole month of youtube ads
@@Ashadar_Resouley They 100% make thousands off ad Rev. Creators just say that so you donate more to them.
@@refugeehugsforfree4151 even if they do make that much in amonth it's likely isn't coming from one video alone on top of that the game cost $40 and sold arould 25000 copies there is no way in hell that their concord review will make anywhere close to that much money also i'm guessing you don't make videos and don't know how much youtube actually pays, a lot of youtubers have shown how much youtube actually pays them and it is never that much, videos with less then a few million views really don't bring in much money
@@Ashadar_ResouleyI think he means it will make more money because it lost money u can go outside and find a dollar and you technically made more money then concord because it only lost money
Nah they definitely put time on the game but it was on horrible stuff and bad design decisions.
Concord's credits are over an hour long, makes the $400 million figure a lot more believable. If you've worked with big projects, you'll probably have seen what insane amount of bloat can happen.
I've been on a project that went $500 million OVER budget! And it was ABANDONED and restarted at the end of it, then they rehired the SAME contractors who ran up that bill for the new project, and now the NEW project is over budget again. Companies are run by individuals, and if they're a bunch of idiots, amazing things can happen.
I heard the credits were 30 minutes long and that people posted them in .5 speed to make it look longer. Anyone know about that?
That's nearly the budget of Red Dead Redemption 2, and that game is utterly massive.
if The US Air Force pays $90,000 for a bag of bolts then concord wasting $400+ million is believable. I expect it to be closer to $600 million with all wasted marketing/wages and such
What was this project?
Yes....what project ? And also they gave comparatives. Until the smoke clears up I'll never believe this 400m smell like clickbait figure.
400 million is a believable figure. The game was expected to run as a live service and the next big thing for Sony. The credit list was a mile long, signed a tv deal, promised weekly cinematics, likely had made unreleased content to feed additional seasons, likely unreleased cash shop, cost to up keep live service isn't cheap and it's why they shut down.
no
Concord was 400mill because they had over 10k people "work" on it. Their credits are over an hour long of random people
Exactly
Okay, serious question. How is the actual FACK do you get 10k people on 1 project? Even 500 is overdoing it…
@@bronzin1445 I mean he's probably lying tbh.
@@bronzin1445 Woke.
You will think I'm joking or a Troll but nope.
Wokeness.
The collective Culture of "Woke" always bloats projects. Toxic Positivity means you can't fire anyone for being garbage at their job, so you then have to outsources to other studios or hire people who can do what you want your other employees to do.
You ever see those Instagram videos of "Game Devs" going to work? They have their own bars, game rooms, private "Therapy rooms" INSIDE the game studio and workplace.
Working is their last concern.
@@refugeehugsforfree4151 Kinda makes the thought of them unionizing seem considerably less appealing, from a consumer perspective. If many of them are barely working to begin with, unions would only add it to.
Joe, Concord was a game that has been in the making for 8 years and an HOUR length of credits worth of EMPLOYEES. If Halo can be 500 million so can concord. Sunk cost fallacy is real dude.

400 Million should be possible if cost is calculated for entire studio, it looks like start-up project in video game industry with messed-up leadership. Full of promisses, lot of side projects which leads nowhere..., that can expand budget a lot.
Xbox is drowning in a puddle while PlayStation is continuously slamming its head in the door. Meanwhile Nintendo on the other side of the street is suing birds, squirrels or whatever gets mildly close to their home.
400 million over 8 years doesn't sound that far-fetched. If everything about Sony's faith in the project is true, and some of it definitely seems to be, they would've just kept throwing money into it.
$400M makes perfect sense if they, as the leaks say, hired a bunch of 3rd party studios to help push the game to completion. If you've ever hired a B2B contractor, you'd know how fucking expensive they are! Doubling or even Tripling a game's budget for 1 year of contractor work is not at all unrealistic!
The reason Concord was 400 mil was because of outsourcing apparently. and outsourcing costs a SHIT TON.

One thing about Concord that keeps getting overlooked: Firewalk designed Concord to be a 5v5 hero shooter. Firewalk was responsible for the game's presentation and whatnot. Sony saw Concord, was impressed by studio's talent and decided to acquire the studio. Sony was mostly hands-off in regards to Concord's development, as they are with most (if not all) of their studios.
Evidently, there was some residual Bungie hubris among those ex -Bungie devs who thought Concord was gonna be the next big thing. To be fair, the game started development around the time the hero shooter genre wasn't so saturated, so maybe it is a bit understandable why they thought they had something great.
Yeah the genre saturation was the problem, sure...I'm sure it had nothing to do with gross, fat pronoun armada...
When did Sony buy the studio because missing the gravy train by 6 yrs is a huge fk up.
I wondering where this 200m came from considering Firewalk is basically a nobody 🤷♂️
It’s one huge pile of dung from start to finish it would seem.
@@maxstill9216 No, it didn't. Why Concord failed has little to nothing to do with the culture war-enthusiast diatribe some claim. Other variables that were far more detrimental caused that game's downfall: market saturation, $40 price tag in a mostly free-to-play genre, lackluster presentation.
@@hybrid9mm Firewalk is a studio mostly comprised of ex-Bungie devs. Such talent and pedigree was something Sony decided to acquire. If there is one thing positive that can be said about Concord, it is that the gameplay (shooting) was actually pretty decent. In that department some people knew what they were doing.
@@DanteMasaruever hear of helldivers. Cost $30 came out this year. Had super popularity. So yah it had a lot to do with all the bs
Saddest part about Concord is that there will be no Angry review about it.
In Concord, they went all out with the cinematics, so they have an animation studio to create those mini-movies set in the Concord universe
Ye, that stuff doesn't come easy, lotta work out into those shorts, with minimal payback
Live services like Concord are the cancer of gaming
More like live services that Blizzard or Riot makes.. You want a $40 skin? Concord isn't the normal live service it wanted to be a one time fee for all unlocks but couldn't attract the masses to try it
Battlefield was amazing for such a long time. Hoping they return to the greatness they once had lol
Right?
There was a time where, if I wanted to experience a proper war-I know, kind of ironic, given that it’s a game--I’d go with Battlefield.
Here’s hoping they can reclaim their former glory.
Battlefield 3 and 4 were great but Battlefield 1 peaked the series in every aspect of distinct unique weapons with character, massive thought out maps, tide turning events, to the ground destruction of the environments, the historical element, balanced infantry vs vehicle counters, amazing audio, and special actions (charging)/gear sets(plated gunner, flame thrower, ect.).
It didn't cost 400 million, they "spent" 400 million while making Concord. A large portion of that money is probably in coffers it wouldn't have normally gotten to without someone giving an excessive budget to make the game. The ones that don't mind it being cancelled are probably some of those with coffers that have more money in them.
Exactly, someone there did an impressive job selling the project (and studio) to Sony. Or Sony is just clueless (considering how they also got scammed by Bungie)
Firewalk wasn't a "small studio". They were owned by a conglomerate publisher. The publisher is who Sony bought them from.
Concord had the WORST character designs I have seen in a long time if EVER! The amount of denial is ASTOUNDING!

I do believe the source claimed that, most likely a salty employee who got pissed because the team ignored "negative" feedback. But it's not factual, 400 million is an absurd amount of money. But let's put a tinfoil hat and pretend this is true, 200 million before, then another 200 million after, as for all intent and purposes Sony didn't invested those first 200 million, maybe a percentage of it, maybe they offset that value by buying the studio (that is partially more believable, development cost + marketing + studio acquirement = 400 million)

128 players is a FANTASTIC idea. The sole purpose of Battlefield 2042 was to ruin people's perceptions of 128 players. Now the devs have fooled gamers into hating 128, they can continue developing standard 64 player maps without having to invest resources into innovating their map design process / spending on server capacity etc.

400 million dollars to develop a video game would be absolutely insane. The ONLY game I can see coming even close to that amount is GTA 6.
That's because Joe is a fucking terrible journalist. Red dead redemption 2 total cost with marketing is like 470 million. GTA5 with marketing is up there as well. Cyberpunk 2077 with marketing is definitely over 300 million.
@@slow9573 See how you had to specify 'with marketing' for every example you listed? I'm purely talking about the cost to develop the game, I don't care about marketing costs because ofc that's going to inflate the final amount.

Trust me, it's not all losers, even if it's $400mil. Sony is the only loser here, all the rest that scooped away the $400 million into their pockets are totally happy with Concord.
I’m really glad Sony lost all that money.
The more they lose, the more likely they are to rethink their strategy of investing into ‘talentless freaks’ and outdated live service trends, and INSTEAD revive a franchise or two that people actually want.

Nuclear Power is the best power source we as humans can harness right now
And you have others in the comment section coping, calling a meltdown and attempted coverup of the meltdown "incredibly minor". The President of the United States had to personally visit the reactor control room during the crisis at Three Mile Island.
if the president visited the reactor up close, it probably wasn't a health hazard.

No offense, but you guys need to do something about the bleeding from your cheap head sets. There is so much cheap plastic sound that bleeds into the mic that's it's really annoying
Nuclear power needs to be increased 100 fold in this country, there is zero reason to be holding back.
It began when a pressure valve in one of the reactors failed to close, allowing cooling water-contaminated with radiation-to drain into adjoining buildings. Control room operators made critical errors as they struggled to contain the crisis, and by early morning the core had heated to over 4,000 degrees-just 1,000 degrees short of meltdown. As radioactive steam began pouring out of the plant, word of the incident leaked to the outside world; within days radiation levels were elevated over a four-county zone. Pennsylvania Governor Richard Thornburgh ordered the evacuation of pregnant women and small children from the area.
On March 31, plant workers were able to address the problems and ended the threat of a meltdown. Although no official deaths or injuries were reported, there has been an ongoing controversy over whether the radiation released at Three Mile Island led to increased cancer and infant mortality rates in the region.

Alex- "A low level employee cant know the exact budget of the game"
Angry Jim with absolutely zero connection to any of it and usually lost without google- "no sorry it cant be more expensive than suicide squad"
Top tier reporting Jim
HEY JOEEEEE always great to watch your vids man
'Battlefield going back to Roots'.. DICE said, whenever they failed at doing exactly that.
Joe and gang still defending Concord 😂
EA hiring ReSpawn/Zampella from OG MW1 and Titanfall is something that FINALLY makes sense for that franchise
release the Concord review AJ!!!!!
Waterworld was good. Don't ever take Waterworld or the Postman's names in vain. Who needs a profit?
$400 million isnt that hard to believe. The production budget was probably around $200 million and the marketing budget was probably at least $150 million.
Been waiting for this vid all day
Just imagine the twisted metal we could have got for 400 million dollars, huge fail
or remakes of the other Sony IPs with a fraction of that allocation
I love these guys...my favorite review team
I am keeping my hype to a very bare minimum for Battlefield 7. You can tell me all you want that the game will be like the classic BF3/4 games or classes will be brought back. Until that game launches, I don’t believe anything DICE or EA tell me about the new game
Nuclear power is really safe. It's the most reliable by far and requires less maintenance.
I'm a dev and I know the budget of all projects I worked on. Even if the higher ups hide it, you can still estimate it because you know the development time and how many people have been working on it.
Angry Joe not believing the 400 million without watching Colin's video is disingenuous.
All 3 of them are woke
Low key they are the henchmen for corporate commander
I just think they don't understand today's industry.
It's not even that crazy RDR2 cost 400mill.
How does not believing in the 400 million budget for concord make them woke?
@@dazronrichard5331 RDR2 cost 400 Million.
Joe is pretending it's not possible.
Idk about "Woke" Though lol.
But Joe is 100% "Woke", just not here...like at all.
@dazronrichard5331 who f'ing knows haha
It is that expensive joe...they obviously did not see the hour+ long credit scene 😂😂😂
400M 😨😨😨😨😨
You could’ve made Game of Thrones season 1 x8 times over with that amount
It's actually even more than this LOL. You will see next week after the report is released in Public.
@@refugeehugsforfree4151 whoa okay i will look forward to it 😁👍
A lot of people forget that Concord was supposed to be more than just a game.
They had an animated short already planned and is going to be released. WEEKLY short films WEEKLY, so they had to have a crap ton of those made already to support that, and those shorts are expensive. It was 8 years of development. Also, the number of people who worked on this was enough for a 30-minute end credits scroll. God of Wars credits to put it in perspective was a 5min end credit scroll.
I don't think the game itself was 400 million but everything AROUND it made it that expensive.
Concord was a WOKE mess
Dude if you think that was it's biggest issue you're the mess
@@lightdarksoul2097 In the real world outside of Commiefornia. Yes, I affirm OPs statement. Get outside twatter.
@@bobmcbob4399 Can't understand half those words you are definitely some kind of foreign
@@lightdarksoul2097 Well as someone who thinks (very incorrectly) that they have moral superiority over others, I'm sure you will tell me how to spell.
@@bobmcbob4399 morals and spelling are different morals are personal it's up to you for that but yeah spelling can just be you're wrong factually
2:30 you could do a "in memorial" video. like a funeral.
When will Joe realize that battlefield is just like madden
