Hope you enjoy this episode, it's one of our favourites from the series! Our journey through the yaylas (summer farming settlements) of the Adjara Highlands happened to coincide with moving day for many families and their herds of cows, meaning lots of traffic on the narrow dirt roads and lovely encounters with the herders along the way. If you fancy road tripping Georgia yourself, check out our detailed itineraries and route maps over on the blog - www.goingthewholehogg.com/destinations/caucasus/georgia/road-trip-itineraries/ Cheers! Great stuff yet again folks, a few things in life are always a total mystery to me, you have the friendly fella at 08:47 getting a selfie with you both and he's in the wilderness, I got my old Mum a tablet about 7 years ago and she still can't take a picture with it, lost count how many times she's told me something is wrong with her tablet, keeps making a noise she'll say, I know straight away what the problem is, it's always the same issue, she'll have about 8 million pages all running, I often ask Julie my anger management therapist - Why won't she close DOWN THE PAGES!!!!!!!! Also you are communicating away with some of those locals but when I cross from Scotland into England they can't understand a word I say, well apart from the word MONEY! Massive Thanks again. Probably have a better chance at exchanging a Scottish £20 note with one of they locals over most establishments in that London.
Ha, well to be fair it took him about 10 minutes to turn the phone on, and another 20 minutes to figure out what his facebook account was so he could send us the pic! By that point his cows were way ahead and his drover buddies were yelling on him to hurry up 😂. Yeah, I still remember the confusion when I first tried to use a Scottish note in England and was refused, I was like, 'Ehh, what you on about?!?'.
Yet another great episode, what a great day, meeting all the locals. Del is as calm as a cucu driving on those roads with the huge drop off's and snow, thankyou for the insight in to this area. 👍🏼
Thanks! Yeah it was such a nice experience, very interesting to have gone through the empty settlement the day before and then realise that everyone was moving back there the following day! Yeah, thankfully he holds his nerve much better than me on dodgy roads 😅
Thanks, glad to hear it! We've been enjoying editing a different kind of video too, and of course the road trip itself made a nice change from foot-powered transport! Cheers, Kim
Nice video 👍👍 Thank you for sharing. I am glad that you enjoyed during your tours here in Georgia. I really like your pickup, is it your or rented it here?
Amazing, have a great time! We travelled in mid-May and some of the roads had only recently opened (for example the Bakhmaro to Khulo road). In April some of the higher mountain roads in Georgia will still be snowbound, but still plenty to explore 😃
Unfortunately the buhanka was just a rental! Hopefully we will have our own one in the future : ) This camper is also a rental, from the same company in Georgia.
Awesome trip, envy you being there. Windy here in Edinburgh today and not so cool... That car looks like dream would love to have one to travel around Scotland etc. All the best.
