BITD (1984?) I swapped my frame for a (then) 1983 Skyway TA.. It had a hairline crack on the downtube where it meets the head tube One day I dropped off a kerb and thought "oh no my crank arms are bent!" I looked down and in horror the entire rear of the bike from the bars backwards was going from side to side lol it had completely snapped in half. I took it to my school metal work teacher to weld it for me. After the repair he proudly gave it back to me with a smile. I was horrified at the 4 inch wide metal plates he had welded onto both sides (gusset) of the down, head and bottom tubes.....lol
Yeah, anything alloy is pretty much a write off, but, some frames are worth repairing, maybe not monetarily always, but if you find say a 94 dirt bike, and you can find a frame builder to replace a tube, you can and should do that. BUT, don't pay stupid money, be upfront and walk away if its not a good deal.
I guess you don't know much about welding bike frames. It's just pretty easy, at the end of the day it's just metal. What's bad is rusty or bent frames , cracks are easy fixed. Go buy yourself a tig welder and get cracking 👍🤣

The average person should not be welding frames. That’s dumb. Rust any day.
