Wow, sounds like you're killin it! Super happy to hear you're doing so well. You seem to help people no matter what path you go down -- RUclips videos, teaching, and even as a student with tutoring! When you mentioned you considered computer science/programming, I got excited, seeing as that's my current field of study (graduating in less than a year), but it sounds like geology is a perfect fit for you :) Hope you become a nobel prize winning geologist man, or whatever the equivalent is for geology. Keep kickin ass, hope you'll still keep us updated every now and then!

That is very kind, thank you! Yeah, I will still keep RUclips updated!

Yes, academia is a really tough (and increasingly effed up) work environment-- I came close to getting into it, a couple times, but couldn't take the leap. I love this choice -- it sounds like a great decision.I'm also kind of intrigued at the different paths our lives can take over time -- I studied literature and creative writing when I was younger. Now I think I'd be in architecture if I was starting anew. Goodonya.

Thanks! Yeah, life can take more twists and turns - in good ways - than I thought when I was younger. As kids, we're usually encouraged to "pick one," in terms of a life focus. But you can actually have more than one!

Damn, Alan! 😁 That's a lot of good news in all of your latest videos! So happy for you to experience all of this - I hope, it makes up a little bit for the tougher time, you had to go through! 😊 Your enthusiasm about all of this is and especially about geology, is like jumping right through the tablet screen into my face, so to speak! (English is not my native language, so I'm sorry for the maybe strange metaphoric translation). I am looking forward to hearing the progression of all these new interests and the romance in your life . Thank you for shareing with us, Alan. ☆♡☆♡☆

Thank you, that is very kind. :) I do indeed have enthusiasm right now, so I'm glad to hear it is apparent!

I'm glad you are pursuing your geology passion. I've long loved the field. If you haven't had a chance already you may want to visit the following campus in Menlo Park. I've long found their specialty library to be an amazing source of discovery. In the past they have held open houses to display some of what takes place there.
    United States Geological Survey (USGS)
    Western Geographic Science Center (WGSC)
    geography.wr.usgs.gov
A friend of mine majored in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) through courses at San Francisco State University (SFSU). He now works in that field at the National Park Service, Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA).

I've heard of the USGS office in Menlo Park... it's ironic that I used to live practically next door to Menlo Park, and now I live much farther away. But that's cool that they may hold open houses! Sounds like fun!

You look very happy and fresh with those changes in your career path! Are you interested in academic research in the geology field? I'm from a way different area, linguistics and sociology, but academic research is what I've wanted to do since high school.

Thanks! I'm not sure yet what path I want to take with geology, but research could be a possibility!

Well hell, if you can do math and chemistry then you are good to go. I love geology too but the math killed me so I didn’t pursue it.

It requires a lot of math!! I hope I don't have to do more, beyond calculus!
