  • London Tube Piccadilly Line On Board Announcements - All Routes and Rare Announcements in One Video
Welcome to Yata-Tetsu's Station & Train Announcements Channel from Japan!
The in-train announcements on the Tube Bakerloo line, return travel between Elephant & Castle - Harrow & Wealdstone.
Bakerloo line is one of the deep-level underground lines of Transport for London (TfL), operated with rounded, small rolling stocks which represents what is called ‘Tube’. The line starts at Elephant & Castle station and goes north via Waterloo, Oxford Circus, Baker Street then Queens Park. From Queens Park to the North, Bakerloo line trains merge onto the London Overground’s network.
The unique name of the line ‘Bakerloo’ comes from ‘BAKER Street’ and ‘WaterLOO’. The brown is given as the line colour.
■What’s interesting in Bakerloo line’s announcements?
The Bakerloo line trains have the oldest automated pre-recorded announcement system in the Tube network as of 2022. You may find some interesting features which other Tube line’s announcements, that are newer than Bakerloo, don’t have, such as where the announcer puts a brief stop in reading. The best example is the next station announcement.
Bakerloo line’s announcements say like ‘the next station, is Baker Street’ (brief stop between ‘station’ and ‘is’) whereas the latest announcements usually say like ‘the next station is, Baker Street’. (brief stop before the station name). Other example is the destination announcement: Bakerloo line ‘This is a Bakerloo line train, to Elephant & Castle’ and other lines ‘This is a Bakerloo line train to, Elephant & Castle’.
Can you guess why TfL changed the position of brief stops in these messages? - That is due to a technical reason, to reduce sound fragments required to compose one announcement system. If the brief stop is put just before a station name, the same sound fragment of station name can be used for other sentences - ‘Baker Street’ can be used at both ends of: ‘The next station is’ and ‘This is a train to’ and they make sense. S Stock uses this method effectively and is able to make service update announcements.
If not, like Bakerloo line, the announcement requires more sound fragments to make a correct messages. You can imagine, ‘is Baker Street’ can’t be used for a destination announcement - or otherwise a funny announcement could be made like ‘this is a Bakerloo line train, is Baker Street’. To avoid preparing a number of sound fragments for reading station names, automated announcements nowadays tend to put the brief stop just before a station name, but Bakerloo line doesn’t do so since it’s too old.
    ■Special points of this video
I know that you’ve been bored to listen to very normal announcements which are broadcasted everyday, aren’t you? So I serve you unusual announcements!
On the southbound travel to Elephant & Castle, you can listen for station closure announcements - I carried out recording on a strike day so most of the stations in city centre were being closed.
On the way back you may enjoy all daily destinations + one irregular destination announcements. Unfortunately there’s something wrong in the announcement system and it can’t produce correct messages upon arrival at Queen’s Park when the train terminates there.
It’s now ready to depart, stand clear of the doors!

Bakerloo line trains are very uncomfortable, though most London tube trains are uncomfortable, compared to lovely and smooth Japanese underground trains.

    パディントン駅とエンバンクメント駅・ウォータールー駅、凄い路線が乗り入れる乗り換え駅だし、チャーリングクロス駅は観光地に降りられる駅なのに余裕で通過してくんだなストライキすごい規模
