Thank you, Dakota, for your passion and abundant generosity. Friends, if you make it to Hamilton, DON'T MISS THIS! Come here. Get inspired. Was privileged to visit Hamilton earlier this summer, spent 2 days there & was able to visit the museum. Fantastic! Spent a wonderful 2 1/2 hours there, unfortunately was the only visitor during the whole time but did get to have a “guided tour” with Dakota. We had a great time talking quilts & history. The long arm section was being set up so I could only peek in the door. I loved the toy room, saw things that brought back my childhood. That museum is well worth the visit. Also got to visit the national quilt museum in Paducah several days later. Also incredible but not the vintage & historic things. Their emphasis is more in the contemporary art quilts but gives a different look into quilting. I’m more into the historic aspects.

      Thanks so much for your feedback. There was so many wonderful things that we did not feature in the museum. The Star of David quilt was one of them. As it was the video was over 30 minutes long. We asked Dakota to give us a peak at many of the items in the Museum. We knew that she could not possibly do every important item. I am sorry if you felt that it ruined it for you. We did not intentionally try to cut out any one item. We merely tried to give our viewers a taste of what they might experience when they visit it. Thank you for your understanding.

    Underground railroad quilt, quit perpetuating the myth. There is no documentation to date to prove this story. It is a nice story, however to a history buff it nerve racking. Sorry folks, please follow historians.

    • @GrassRootsLiving
      @GrassRootsLiving  Год назад +1

      Thanks for your input. :) Those historians who believe it to be true, admit that it is based on oral history not documentation. They point out that most slaves could neither read nor write. It would have been passed on by word of mouth. At least everyone can agree it is a nice story. :). Thanks again for watching. I hope you enjoyed the overall tour. :)
