  • This is a brand to pay attention to guys. The Quarken 28 Cabin looks like a boat that will appeal to the family boaters that want something fuel efficient, offshore capable, all-weather friendly and also an overnighter!
I was so impressed with the quality on the 27 t-top we tested earlier this year and this cabin version did not disappoint either. I had many questions about the offset cabin arrangement and if it actually works from a functional point of view so join me and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Finnish designed and built this little rocket is a sensible choice for the conservative boater in my opinion.

I had hoped that when Axopar entered the 32’ market it would make exactly this! I feel their bow in the 37 is limited because of symmetrical access. An offset cabin fixes that as found here. Great video as always. Hope your feeling better.

Yes as a retired Axopar salesman I think they missed an opportunity to make a good 32. Your comment on the 37 bow has been repeated to me multiple times over the years so it's clearly important to a lot of people to make that space more useable. Don't get me wrong I still love the Axo 37 but feel some of the design is ready for an update now after everything i've seen and tested. Thanks! Covid smashed me but fighting fit again and back filming next week.

Does this offset cabin work? Here are some things I appreciate: its wider fore-aft side deck, that amazingly high bulwark alongside the side deck, an opening door onto the side deck, and the wider cabin due to the offset. All these are advantages over e.g. the Axopar 28 Cabin and the Nimbus C9. I also like how they've made the most of that aft cockpit area and adjacent sliding door without creating a compromise inside the cabin for passengers during cold &/or snotty weather. Thumbs up, Dan.👍

Another thing is the beam is 8 ft 6 inch which in the United States you don’t need any permits to trailer. The Axopar 28 is unfortunately wider than this and you need permits when trailering. The permits are pretty easy to get but they do have some restrictions on time of day you can travel especially in Florida keys.

The aft "fender holders" might be for dive tanks.

Hey Dan! Can you review a Sabre 43 if opportunity arises?

G'day David, yes I may have an opportunity to do this in August TBC. If it happens I will post a video. In the meantime I have already tested the Sabre 45 which you can search for in my video catalogue. We took her our in a good seaway.

Good question! SO yes you have the dunny for emergencies but I feel like the real advantage of a twin stepped hull design like this is that the time and hassle required to hoist the anchor and be on your way to a real toilet is minimal. Using Sydney Hbr as an example I would never be more than 5 mins travelling at 30kts away from a marina, Yacht Club or public beach toilet where number 2's can be done in peace. The optional bow ladder and outboard also means the Quarken will facilitate fast beach drops offs onto the sand in an emergency. So yes the onboard toilet is there but it's akward - and I believe the speed functionality makes the boat perfect for this situation

The piece of wood in the kitchen and the v berth is aweful. Very poorly designed.
    Good review.Thank you
