This is so extraordinarily serene and beautiful. We have gray and white herons where I live and seeing this ceremony reminds me of hours sitting and watching them. It is important to keep memories and traditions alive. Thank You so much for sharing and educating. Greetings from Texas 🤠
Thank you. A thing of great beauty does not need necessarily to be understood. Yet understanding can deepen beauty. To know that this is a religious ritual reather then a dance performance makes it even more precious.
I've never heard of this, but I was immediately interested by the costumes!! What a beautiful tradition, I hope I'll get to experience it if I get to go to Japan! I'm sorry there were people being mean and disrespectful, they don't understand what it means to appreciate other cultures. They don't understand it, and so they're mean to it, which isn't okay! Thank you for sharing this with us, and greetings from North Carolina!
Japan is a wonderful country with the most amazing traditions in human history. I hope you can keep and celebrate these breathtakingly beautiful traditions until the end of the world. And to all my Japanese fellow human beings, please don't mind the people who are not appreciating your culture! In Hungary, where I'm from, we have a saying. "Bolond lyukból bolond szél fúj!" It basically means, dumb people say dumb things. (The direct translation would be off, so I did not even try. In Hungarian, with today's standard, it doesn't sound offensive. 🤪)
I’m Japanese on my mother’s side, and that’s the first time I’ve heard of such a thing. Mind you, I was raised here in the states; had I grown up there, I might have heard about it.
Як гарно, дякую, що поділились цим відео і дали коментарі до нього. Велич традиції багатющої культури. Танець ритуал, спокій і краса. Вітання з України🇺🇦. Чудово👍🥰

Beautiful !❤️😊
Thank you for the thorough explanation, I did assume they were white cranes at first, herons standing on one leg makes more sense!
Wonderful tradition
