There is nothing to laugh about the attire, it is a very respectful attire for us South Indians. It is an auspicious attire that we adorn whenever we involve in spiritual activities. Why is there such shock I do not get it. It is very normal to follow this very beautiful and respectful attire in our temples and homes on festival or spiritual occasions. We are proud of this attire. Just like a salwar kameez or kurta pyjama...our dhoti reigns in the south. We do not laugh at kurta pyjama or salwar kameez we appreciate there is no hula baloo about Indian any Indian attire. You please educate yourselves about India rather than mocking it.

Namaskaar, In tamilnadu & in Kerala temple boards have specified a dress code to enter into the temples. Even indiragandhi being PM was not allowed into the temple of Puri jagannath temple (non Hindu s are not allowed inside the temple in Puri). It is the tradition.
