It was heartwarming to hear how much support you had/have, but also sad for me. Was just diagnosed with rectal cancer. 5.1cm and I, basically, have no one. Im just putting one foot in front of the other and talk to my dog. Poor pup. Lol
Hi Jelena similar journey to yourself Jan 2021 discovered I had a tumour after a colonoscopy as I am in the uk I went through the NHS system in a nutshell following the scans it was stage 3 or T3N0M0. So went through radiotherapy/ surgery LAR and it was picked up I had some cancers cells in one lymph node so the final staging was T3N1M0. Following surgery and a temporary stoma I went through 3 months of chemo but I had a mixture or oxaliplatin and capecitabine or CAPOX as the treatment is generally known and finally 4 weeks ago I had my stoma reversed so going through the learning to poop again and to be honest I am ok really as my bowels have settled down. I have seen a few of your other videos but saw this was a recent post so thought to comment and have to say the last 12 months have been stressful but my family have been brilliant plus I managed to get covid as a bonus 😂. Thanks for your honesty and frankness in your videos it does help. Good luck and happiness for the future Paul in the uk
@@ImiChitterman Hi There from the pain perspective that was not a real issue ( mad as that may sound) in reality pain wise was post surgery both times and that was managed with normal pain killers and whilst in hospital I also had oral morphine. TO be honest I want to stop my reliance on pain killer as soon as practical and as I had laparoscopic surgery my healing was pretty straightforward. When I left hospital I was given some of these pain meds to take with me but I did not really use them. I did get loperamide and anti-emetics and this was also the same after the chemo. The chemo was the worst but my main aim was try try and normalise my life ( if you could call that a strategy ) . As I am into sport I kept cycling and walking as much as possible because it kept me sane. The radio therapy whilst a bit painful and due to covid I did mine 5 days straight but after a few weeks the side effects lessened ( apart from peeing which felt like i was passing razor blades ....! ) . I hope this helps and good luck on the journey.
@@paulseaman7773 Thanks for the replies. Man pain is my ordeal. When it breaks I get like 2 to 3 hours per day time and maybe 1 hours restful sleep. I am on a chemo 5 cycles completed ◇oxyoplatin plus Xeloda ➕ radiation which started this week. But may goodness If pain was money, then I had the world of it! I still push through with waking daily but running causes flar up and more pain so it has been a while. Am hoping to see a clearer day soonest. Stay blessed!
New subscriber, here. Going in for my first colonoscopy in a few weeks. My GI doc gave me the scrunchy face when I told her all of my symptoms (incl very specific spots where I've felt pain for months and electric shock-type pains lower in the abdomen on my left side). I have a cousin who died of colon cancer and the doc asked me at what age she died. I'm 3 years away from that number. Trying not to panic (read: I'm overworking myself for the distraction). I really appreciate your detailed journals. Your videos help me get perspective. Thanks so much!
Thank you so much you’re so beautiful and so gracious and very informative. I have just recently been diagnosed with colon cancer I have Crohn’s for many years and it turned cancerous. I’ve had a tolling of 23 polyps removed in the last 20 years. Thank you so much.
Could you talk about the patients that do not qualify for ostomy bag due to liver and other metastasis. When the rectal cancer tumor cause obstruction, what intervention/surgery palliative is used???
Was your cancer checked for genetic mutations? Also since your vaccinations and having had cancer ..have you had any elevated liver enzymes..my gf had colon cancer..and after her vaccinations about 10 mos now...she now has constant elevated liver enzymes.. and she can't attribute it to anything else...was just curious.
It was, and my blood was tested for multiple genetic disorders. I don’t remember the exact genetic makeup of my tumor, but I didn’t test positive for any gene mutations that can be contributed to a higher colorectal cancer risk. My liver enzymes have always been fine.

Thank you for sharing your story, Paul. I’m glad to hear you’re doing ok after enduring treatment. I hope you enjoy many, many years of NED. 💙

I'm starting radiation next week, and I'll be on my back. Has anyone else with rectal cancer experienced this?
Hey friend
Hi Brandon! How are you doing? Recovering from your reversal ok?
