Wow Mike! Impressive video. As the Designer on the project, i have to say it was one of the most seamless, pleasurable experiences ive had in my 35 years of designing homes. Your professionalism is stellar. I’ve read the comments and saw so many complaining about cost. I laugh, as the cost definitely met with the details it took to achieve such an awesome piece of art. To date, your work is one of the most commented on in the space. I cant wait for the next project. Thank you for an awesome experience working with you.
They came out SO good!!!! I LOVE the semi-translucent look too. Great request by the client and EXCELLENT execution by you! Congrats on your first big commission!
You just spent more on wood than I have in my entire 77 year old life! Another simply beautiful project, would love to see the amount of light coming through the resin. Congratulations.
I subscribe to your channel from my personal account but this video popped up in my own channel feed. I love all your work and followed you closely over the years for the new loft/shop renovation. The river doors you did for yourself were great and these river doors being translucent was an excellent touch. Subtle and add to the aesthetics. Very nice.
Congrats! look very stressful though, but I guess it's hence by the first time factor. I love the whole door, and the show in between. I'll start looking for the slab in a bit... 😅
Looks like you got the $15,000 you mentioned early in the home renovation series back! XD Congratulations! That's big time moving that much money but you DEFINITEY earned it. your videos are genuine, you rebuilt a whole house pretty much on your own (no studios sponsering you, no stupid scripts, no pretending it's your house when it's really not.... it was literally YOUR home and we knew it was all authentic) and you deserve the kudos! Here's to more great projects coming your way!
@@lawndogmoon2: I'm waiting for that link too - and maybe a wee descriptive, ie: can Blacktail’s N3 Nano (ceramic) finish be used as a topcoat on ALL tables/doors/etc.
Good morning 🌅, That was a great video, I love the timber and epoxy, I think I would of put a stainless steel channel in the bottom, for the guide to run in, and done something similar for the top, and stopped it short so you can’t see it from the sides, and if you were unsure about the thickness you might been able to get someone to deep cut the wood, and made up a cure of plywood and edged the edge before you glued on the timber back to it, I have done this before over many years, but you do need a very large vacuum bag set up, That way, you can make the door as sick as you’d like, and do not see the the plywood edge as the resin will cover it, and the door will be a lot more stable, Good luck for the future very enjoyable watching you make and supply a high-end pair of doors that look very nice well done , And I wish you all that success for the future , very old English dude living in France retired,
When is the shop renovation happening? Did the city renege on the grant money? Or there was talk of a new building renovation series, any updates on that?
Why don't all barn door installs include a simple pulley system when you move one door the other moves at the same time? The doors looked beautiful! Well done!
I where about to comment on the same. First thing that struck me the last seconds of the video :) Perhaps you sometimes want to only open one of the doors and not both, but a simple pulley, would have been awesome. And bumpstop/softclose.
Great work! Note: if you pick up metal C channel, Place painters tap along the long narrow sides, lay it across the wood, clap them in place against your wood to your table, it will keep the boards from warping when gluing or epoxying. The Painters tap will come off and the C Channel will be easier to pry off. Do some tests, until you feel comfortable with the technique. All the best, Congratulations on your first commission!
I had a random thought that you could angle both inside edges of the doors where they meet so that they slightly overlap and no light will come through
Welcome to the world of high end clients and the nerve wracking experience of installations and knowing if you damage the one of a kind object you've made, you're doing it all again from the beginning, feeling like your an idiot! Well done
what a pleasure watching this. really helpful you being sooo reaaaal. appreciate that as i'm just beginning my foray into doing this stuff. have afew tables under my belt but haven't sold one yet. can i ask what grits did you sand epoxy to and how to you clean and buff epoxy after oiling? thanks again
sanded up to 400 grit, 5 passes per grit, wiping dust off between each pass (sometimes you have to go back down if there swirl marks sneak through), then 2 coats of osmo polyx, then blacktail nano finish.
The finished product looks great although I would have liked to see that black on black combo. I think that would have really been nice, especially considering the color on the walls.
Congrats on your first commission! It looks fantastic. Would love a shot with the sun coming through it if the client ever wants to share that.
I'm pretty sure the best instruction is on WoodPrix.

that black on black option 2 is insane 2:28
Oh damn, that translucency turned out really well! It's subtle but it's there, and it looks lovely.

The translucent effect is amazing.
The doors turned out absolutely stunning! 🙌🙌
Nice project, glad to see your hard work building the workshop is paying off with clients who appreciate work of this level.
Congratulations on your first commission! Feeling so glad for you, Clifford!

Well done! Also, grapefruit lmnt is my fav. I hate sparkling water but I love theirs.
Fantastic job! The doors are gorgeous!
Congratulations on a great project! There were bumps along the way but you still made it happen! Well done!
Excellent job Mike! And I loved the TV commercial by the way haha very creative
Congratulations on your first commission job! They look fantastic!

Congratulations on your first commission the first one is always heart wrenching, and super stressful but you did it and you did an amazing job!
Did I just missed , "NO KULK TALK"
Yep dude we just did.
@@carsociety705 as soon as I saw the kulk I was like helllzz yeah Kulk Talk ,,,,
Yeah, missed it lol
Probably becasue this is a commissioned project.
And the client did not paid for the Kulk Talk package
Nice shout out at 14:18 to Blacktail Studio.
He forgot the link though

Very impressive honestly. The quality and care is amazing. The customer was wise to chose you.

That was just the first, I’m sure there will be more! Excellent work!

Looks so nice!
Amazing end product! Barn doors like this always terrify me, I always think I’ll accidentally slam the two half together and shatter them
The maple stops look fine, but have you ever thought about using brass?
Congrats on your first commission! May you get many more!
thanks!
Wow this turned out amazing. The black on black would’ve been great too so hopefully we get to see that in a future project hehe.
Thank you!
I'm really looking forward to that black maple project 😉 I just know you're going to do something wild! Great job 👍

good idea!
Beautiful!! Thanks for the commentary!
They really are beautiful doors. These will be the first of many commissions I'm sure!
Fantastic build! Turned out really great!
thanks much!
Those doors are beautiful bro... Nicely done!
Nice work! That is one spectacularly pretty slab of maple 😀
Beautifully done, and good on ye for the commission!!!
AMAZING!!! You did SUCH a FANTASTIC JOB!!!!
GREAT WORK!!!! - Be Safe and Stay Awesome my Fren!!!
They look great. Would love to see them with the sun shining through.
Great video and great work ! always look forward to a new episode of Modustrail !!
Very cool. Been following for many years. Congrats.
Awesome project.
Also, awesome mural in your workshop. 👍
Those doors are so beautiful!
Stunning doors, man! Truly amazing work! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Beautiful doors! You did an awesome job.
thanks much!
Beautiful work!
They came out awesome
Awesome work as always dude!
Build your forms on a frame which keeps it flat. Curving was always going to happen when you poured basically on a sheet.😊
Absolutely beautiful! I dream of the day I can do one for my own house.
I really like option 4.
Great job Mike!
I would have suggested the necessary wire rope to make the doors open symmetrically, plus a magnetic catch to hold them closed.
Beautiful doors. Well done!
Very nice. Really enjoyed seeing it.
I *WISH* I could afford your services. Those look amazing.
congrats! Excellent project!
14:18, a nod to the king of epoxy tables
Great Work! Congratulations!
Beautiful achievement. Be very proud❤
Nice job man! Ur on your way now to be an architect's go to dude! Cheers!
Beautiful work.
Nice build guy,. big price, you killed it.
Would reheating the epoxy a little relax it and then it cools down re-harden? Would be a cool test.
Very well done!
Congratulations on a job well done! That's not unusual in your case. Anyway they're gorgeous 😀😀
Absolutely job well done they're stunning doors ❤ them!
I had a random thought that you could angle both inside edges of the doors where they meet so that they slightly overlap and no light will come through
congrats on your first commission! looks great. What grit did you sand up to and did you water pop at any of the grits?
Up to 400 grit, popped grain at 220 and 320.
Fantastic job!
Dude, you never disappoint. The only thing I’m sad about is there wasn’t a Caulk Talk 😢
thanks! I don't use paste wax with resin pours (it can cause leaks), so caulk talk doesn't quite work in this case :)
Congrats, you deserve it!
thanks!

Gorgeous!
Mike, could you expand on what the value of doing 1 large pour is when they get cut back down anyway? I don't really understand.
$16,000 for a door? At least with you doing it, its worth every penny and they turned out beautiful
not a fan of the epoxy craze but these doors are truly stunning
It totally worths $16,000 to me. God bless you !!!
Curious why you use The Shaper versus your AVID for the door machining. Thanks for a great video.
If you put a 2° opposing bevel on the edge of the doors that touch when closed, you probably wont see a gap in between the doors when they’re closed.
Great job,I would of been on pins and needles during the whole build.Looks fantastic.

Nice job man
beautifull job lot work to get to that stage
Nice work! But if were me delivering doors w/ (super nervous) Mike, I'd have made HIM (Mike) drive! haha
Thumbs up for your first one!
Osmo poly x is great I use it all over the place (including all my internal doors, obviously expensive doors like these)
Nice work
would a window tint film be able to provide a possible, opaque in dim light-translucent in direct light?
Neat, I use those same handles on my pocket doors... And yes, screwing them in REALLY sucked.
Doors look great!Couldn’t see the translucency, though.
Question, what keeps both barn doors from moving left and right while brought together/closed?
I can’t wait until I have money. I’d love to commission you for my business or home here in Japan.
