Actually, the appendix does have an important purpose that isn't just for helping to break down food. Over the last 20-ish years, scientists have also discovered it plays an important role in the immune system as well. If you think of your immune system as an army, think of your appendix as a forward operating base: allows for both our gut flora(which are important in breaking down plant material) and immune cells to hang out in if things get hairy in the GI tract, like if you're letting out a lot of water(trying not to trip the censors, sorry) coming out or there are antibiotics or laxatives being used to clean out your system and for your immune cells to rebuild their strength. That way, they can repopulate your gut once things settle down again. This is why, statistically, people who have had theirs removed are much more susceptible to nasty gut diseases.
@아름다움김0 Not a doc but as I understand it, nothing's changed about people being able to live with it removed. It's just no longer something that docs do as a first resort, now that science actually knows its purpose.

I actually think my appendix burst one year and yeah, I felt the pain and it hurt like HELL, and I didn't know what it was at the time since I was young like 11 or 12, so I just let the pain pass through. 2 years later that pain came back and I was then transferred to a hospital. Apparently fat was produced over my appendix to stop the burst when I was young. Pretty cool thing, but I'm glad I don't have my appendix anymore.

The hymen also kinda hurts to break if you’re unlucky I hope it just fades out evolutionary, in certain places women have been punished for having a broken hymen ((from horse riding for example)) It’ll be nice for the women in the future to not have to worry about that
A lot of women are born without one and almost all of them have holes in it like swiss cheese (for period blood to even flow it has to have those holes)
That really sucks, I do relate though. Animal fats and grease get me in trouble. Eventually I ended up seeing a gastroenterologist and the medication he gave me works well but I still have trouble with those two things. How long ago did she get it taken out?
My ears move back and upwards involuntarily when I hear certain sounds. I can make them go back on command, but I haven't figured out how to make them go upwards whenever I want. I also have a moving scalp lol
The gallbladder is a whole bitch. Like how are you supposed to be helpful and painful at the same damn time. I'm glad it's gone, but who is gonna hold all this bile now?😂
Arrector Pili werent used to puff us up as a defense mechanism, we arent cats, they puffed us up to add an insulative layer when it got cold, just as they do now. Also the appendix is a little baggy shelter for gut bacteria to survive in during purges, it still has a function and that was probably always its main function
trust me you dont wanna wish it - if you dont want children thats fine, but having the choice is a blessing, especially when so many women need to undergo surgery to have their womb removed for injuries, which leaves them depressed afterwards its insensitive to these women to say you wish you didnt have one. be glad evolution gave you the choice.
@ not trying to be insensitive just imo for me my uterus isn’t very useful beyond doing as it’s functioned and needed to do and be8n* able to have a choic3 is nice i just don’t want one purely because i think it’s rather annoying for now
Funny, I have one extra 13th rib on my left side and have actually experienced that random piercing pain in my right arm. Also, I can't wear belts with high-waisted jeans because the belt buckles keep hooking in with the extra rib whenever I'm sitting down. It's actually quite painful...so I guess it's nice hearing that that trait might go extinct some time in the future.
