I was a kid in the 70's. These were all the rage. My best friend still has a few stuck to his bedroom door. I never heard "Wacky Packs" in all my life. It's "Wacky Packages," damnit. Get it right.
Some people who collect these stickers are shall we say "passionate". Few years ago I found three full boxes of the first edition punch-out Wacky Packs with the gum still in them. I made the mistake of putting some of the cards on ebay along with the background about my find. This is also before ebay hid the seller's contact information like phone number. Man, when those hard-core Wacky Pack collectors saw that I had some cards in unopened boxes my phone absolutely blew up with calls all hours of the day & night!!
I was a fanatic for these back in '79, during the re-release. We would go down to the liquor store and 1 buck could buy you 4 packs. Drowny, Dampers, and Blisterine were my favorites.
Been a collector myself since 1979. I LOVE the 1967-1977 ones the most. Finished the Original 1973-1977 run in 1993. Actually completed the Die Cuts in 1992, only cost about $150 to get all 44 in NM+. (No Ratz or Cracked variants tho :() My how times have changed. I do love the "Old School series Topps puts out every few years)
omg i love wacky packages! my dad introduced them to me because he used to collect them when he was little! and of course,...i love this show....unwrapped!!!!!
I started collecting Wacky Packs at 10 years old in 1979 with Series 1. It wasn't until many years later I learned they were reissues. Great memories though....
My sister gave me some old ones from when she was little. I have no idea what series they are.. They're the ones like, cup o' poodles.. Trucker's jam.. Scrawny paper towels.. Coorpse beer.. Anything ringin a bell?
Yea, I always loved Wacky Packages.Have a big collection.Threw most away as a kid but started again. My all-time favorite is 'OLD SPIT',followed by 'Jean Nutty',Plopsicle etc. ...TONY
Lol, I love how mark summers puts awkward emphasis on every syllable. Thanks for watching! Join us again neeext time when weee... "unwrap" more secrets... behindamerica'sfavoritefoods. Maybe the robot theories are right after all.
I was fortunate enough to have bought them when they came out....I was in 1st grade when the 1st series came out. Wacky's and Aurora glow models.....COOL!
I had a ton of these in the 70s, the entire 4th-9th series I think, some earlier ones, with stacks of multiple copies. What I wouldn't give for that old collection, that got thrown away! :( Wacky Packs are great!
Wacky Packages and Garbage Pail Kids Art Show! November 14th - December 5th By Topps artist: Luis Diaz Paintings from the new series. haroldgolengallery com
Here’s another fast fact that they didn’t mention the Wacky Packages line actually gave birth to another popular line from Topps, Garbage Pail Kids! Yes indeed the iconic trading card line started when cartoonist and Topps consultant, Art Spiegelman, drew a sticker for Wacky Packages parodying the Cabbage Patch Kids doll line from Coleco. Although the Wacky Packages version was never released, the management at Topps thought it would make a great spin-off series. so Spiegelman teamed up with Mark Newgarden and John Pound to rework the original idea into a trading card line and the Garbage Pail Kids line was released in 1985 with the original series lasting for 3 years before being discontinued in 1988.
awwe i love wacky packs!!! you guys know you can get them online right? i order them online all the time with my friend Kelly and my sister, Alyssa. we put them in little folders in those clears pockets and we trade them! soo fun! (:
Does anyone remember the name of those stickers that came out after the craze of wacky packs...sometime in the early 80's, that parodied cars? I remember one called Old Old Oldsmobile with a skeleton driving it. For the life of me, no one knows of these.
wow ! cool, I don't even know these existed , let alone been around that Long , I was aware & collected Garbage pail kids in the 80's , but never saw these , do they still make these ?
I miss wacky packs. Even though I wasn't a seventies kid, I still had them. And they rocked. I bought some original packs for really cheap and they were in mint condition. Then my stupid ass cousin saw them and burned them in the fireplace on Christmas along with my Bionicles, Legos and Playstation games. I beat the shit outta him when I was 7 for doing that. He got beat up by an 7 year old girl. I'm almost fifteen and I still haven't forgiven him but he never touches my shit or fucks with me.
i wish i had his collection. i cant believe he had that really old punch out lick one thats really rare and he punched it out!! that just ruined the rarety.
I cant look at Crest without thinking of Crust to this day & that was 40 years ago.we loved & had em & I'm sure there will be some goody goody cry babies that will not want these on the market today cause "their bad some how" wah..
I have tons not as much as him but a lot of cards pillows folders calendars magnets piggy banks ( silly savers ) I also have a lot of garbage pail kids
I understand saving the funny stickers because they're collectable (even though some of them are kinda nasty in my opinion), but why would anyone save old gum? That's gross!
i have a lot of this cards from the 1970s got them from a family menber there all in great share and now iam looking to sell them if anyone is interested get let me know
Mr shame you need to lighten the Hell up! These are parody stickers, the are meant to be fun nothing else. Little brother does'nt sound too bright, and thats what parents are for to explain the differences to little kids.
