My Neurosurgeon says my stenosis pretty bad. One of the Neurosurgeons told me I could try the MILD procedure- as I am not wanting a small radio in my back. I saw many non - successful spinal laminectomies, during my time working as a Medical Social Services on that Unit. It worries me. I am also a Lupus patient.
I haven't found any information on ligamentum flavum being the cause of spinal stenosis. I had L4-5 laminectomies. I did well for a month then I noticed that my symptoms had changed from one leg and foot to the other leg and foot but not all of the problems had returned. For the next 2.5 years I tried to convince my PCP that something wasn't right I talked to my surgeon and all I got was you need to take medicine like gabapentin/Lyrica and do a course of PT & walk. Well bad medside effects later and three rounds of PT did not help. I went to a interventional pain doctor who said that it looked like the surgeon had missed something but he didn't say what it was, but apparently the ligamentum flavom had reappeared and was the cause of my symptoms. I'm going in for my second ESI tomorrow and hope the first one wasn't a placebo, because his nurse says we'll give you something stronger next time that'll last longer 🤔 and that the second one will work. Please talk more about that being the cause of a second round of severe spinal stenosis. Are these ESIs just chasing a temporary fix and delaying further surgery?
@@DonnallySpineConsult If the ligamentum flavon was cut out when the laminectomies were done how can it be returned that enough to cause another episode of spinal stenosis 2 years later? Why have the laminectomies in the first place? Now my back is not stable and I can feel it crunching and grinding when I twist it. Is this guesswork on the part of the surgeon?
What is the difference between foraminal stenosis central canal stenosis and spinal stenosis. I have all 3 foraminal stenosis on cervical. Central canal stenosis on thoracic and spinal stenosis on Lumbar just a combination of the 3 is one stenosis worse than the other?
Hi Dr Donnally. I'm from Chicago and next month I will be getting a spine fusion on L4L5 from a Rush Hospital top spine surgeon. Rush is renowned to be among the best ortho hospital here. The doctor will be doing it at different location, like their spine surgery center in downtown Chicago. Would that be ok compared to doing it a hospital itself? Also I was wondering if you can mention that doctor's name or if you have peers here that is as good and confident as you. I'm hoping my doctor is the one you are referring to. BTW you going to NASS here next week! Always thank you for all you do!
Can you please provide an email address to send my MRI results… l listen to you all the time and believe your knowledge and experience is sound… You’re generous with your information and I appreciate that…
Hey there, Dr. Donnally does about 15 new patient telemedicines💻 every week. Here is the best path forward: 1- email your insurance card to Spine@TSCspine.com (We can’t take Medicaid. Private pay is sometimes an option, unless Medicaid) 2- if we take that insurance THEN upload your images to my portal for your 1st visit. (The only HMO we take is BCBS). 3- I must have X-rays and MRI, X-rays are critical! “Just” MRI isn’t enough and is a misuse of your time. It needs to be from last 12 months. Nothing older is needed or wanted. Cant stress this enough, must have BOTH: x rays and MRI. 4- You need to get your CD of your X-ray and MRI (imaging centers will NEVER send them to us) 5- On the top of my website (www.DonnallySpine.com) is the link to UPLOAD images, from YOUR HOME! 🥰(or at a CVS with Physician LookUp Code k5037438) 6- To recap: email us, get CDs, THEN upload! Step by step: ruclips.net/video/HpKOfI_1FSs/видео.html - Again- no Medicaid. Must have your X-rays and MRI.
Can you recommend a colleague here in the Chicagoland area if you can please. My fusion is scheduled for next month and I still have time to make sure that path is the best for me. Second opinion. Thank you!
