I'm 31 and lost my son about 2 months ago, a few hours after he was born. I used to sing this song to my baby in utero, and up until a week before his birth, the song made me cry. The lyrics "building castles in the sky" made me realize we were meant to meet again in heaven. In the meantime, I'll try my best to learn new songs and perfect all the songs I couldn't teach you ❤
Cheers brother.. keep going, we're ALL in this for a good reason, stay strong so you can inspire with your story till we can proudly say "I did good" at the end of it all
This might sound odd coming from a total stranger from the internet , but trust me I know he's where you want him to be. Keep on strumming them strings for him.
This one means a lot Marty. Going to start working on it tonight. My mother who passed away used to take me out when I was really little (I'm 28 now) and we'd do things like shop together and she'd spoil me and this song always seemed to come on the radio in the car and she'd crank it up everytime and say it was our song.
I see the crystal raindrops fall And the beauty of it all Is when the sun comes shining through To make those rainbows in my mind When I think of you sometime And I wanna spend some time with you Just the two of us We can make it if we try Just the two of us (Just the two of us) Just the two of us Building castles in the sky Just the two of us You and I We look for love, no time for tears Wasted water's all that is And it don't make no flowers grow Good things might come to those who wait Not for those who wait too late We gotta go for all we know Just the two of us We can make it if we try Just the two of us (Just the two of us) Just the two of us Building them castles in the sky Just the two of us You and I
Can please someone explain me what technique he is using at 03:35 until 04:01 like the strumming / picking thing, I have been trying to figure it out for like weeks but I think I need some decent explanation. PLEASE HELP ME THANK YOU :)
Marty! I was 13 when I first moved to America and I learned the guitar from you. I’m 28 now and I still am learning from you with this song. Feels like a lifetime of learning from you!
I find leaving the capo on for the more advanced (jazzier?) version works, and then you can mix n match. Possibly even easier to play the low Fm. Thx Marty!
Hey Marty, great stuff - thanks for that. I especially enjoyed the capo-less jazzy scale down to F minor. I find the strumming pattern somewhat challenging - I always get into a kind of bossa nova rhythm. Looks so easy when you play it. But hey - you are the man. ;-)
Marty you always come through for us. Another amazing lesson that is playable and easy to get down. Without being frustrated on what you are doing. I love this song too
Hey Marty, thank you so much for all the great lessons. I’ve learned so much from you. I just this song and I can’t stop playing it. You’re a great teacher, thanks again !!!
Hey Marty! So I’ve got a recommendation for a future video I would love to see! I was just wondering if you could do a updated lesson on the song “Lenny” by Stevie Ray Vaughan, i think it would be an awesome video for people who have not come this song yet and to finally hear it, in my opinion I believe this is the best instrumental the world has ever seen wish that everyone comes it!
Hi Marty! I know you get tons of this kind of messages but I just want to say thank you. One of my dreams has always been playing guitar but without you I would have put it down after the first difficulties. Thanks to your videos I realized that I can play songs even with two simple chords! That gave me motivation and now I can say that I’m a proud guitar player who can play a couple songs and gets better every day. Iggy Pop is the godfather of punk and I think you’re the godfather of all guitar students out there. Sending lots of love ❤️

Every time I search a guitar tutorial for a certain song and I see your video pop up I feel so relived .
I'd love to learn the barre chord version. 😀 When I've practised for 30 years, I'll have a go at the last 15-20 seconds or so.
