Yeah, and it'll be a shame the day you get checked on the side of the highway without those parts. The epa isn't easing up. Look at the diesel mandates for 2027. I believe the day is coming when roadside checks are a reality. But to each their own.
I put trucks on my lift, and every single time, it just "feels" sketchy. It was the main reason i bought the tall jack stands for my lift. Makes things feel stable when yanking it around.
that sketchy feeling goes away entirely with a 12k twin post and up. 12k is the only lift worth buying nowadays with how big these trucks are getting. my lift at work is a 10k and i will never stop annoying my manager about it until i get a 12k. they are just built different.
Definitely agree it's time to delete. One thing I've learned with mine is that if the truck isn't driver regularly it starts getting upset and things start to fail. Especially def
what did we learn today boys n girls.... always replace the cheaper part of the equation first unless your 100 percent positive. Could have saved 500 bucks... i cannot tell ya how many times ive done that to myself, thats why i always take the time to fully troubleshoot to be sure now. Even then sometimes ya get it wrong, it just reduces the amount of times this happens to ya. my list is a mile long lol, its the only reason i generally dont make that mistake anymore, live n learn.
2 common issues on these trucks. Luckily the emissions problems can be “fixed” at my shop. But we do lots of the in tank pumps as well. We probably “fix” the emissions on these trucks 4 times a week where I’m at
Yep.. Its that age.. Doesn't matter the mileage seems like.. Sell it, and go buy a new one unless you enjoy working on it or having it in the shop at least once ever 6-8 weeks for the rest of you life..
This is why I kept my old 7.3 ford. I just couldn't justify the payment with the cost of repairs. Sorry, Cooper. I don't envy any of the newer diesel owners!
You still have to deal with it. I have to watch all of these idiots out there acting like exhaust fluid and filters are normal. 15 years ago people would prank people by asking them to grab muffler fluid for them.
Won't have to worry about Tarif's if the shit is made in America! But if you like the cheap stuff made in a foreign country with cheap parts and labor.
Hopefully ya cleaned the connectors good after the def splashed everywhere. Stuff is super corrosive to copper can cause issues with wiring if it got on any of it. And quickly
Hope fuel pump fixed your issue, if not common issue I always see with these is the fuel pump control module going bad. If you ever stop feeling like working on it yourself bring it to us at pela motorsports in jupiter. We have been specialuzing in high performance and all duramax engines for 15 years
At least you're in Florida. In the cold white North we have our DEF tanks melting trying to run the heater. Heater is molded into the tank, and then when that melts and exposes the wiring the def likes to follow that up to the computer module. My l5p had a def tank code, and it was about $3k in parts to replace the tank, wiring, and computer. 😮
K, the lift pump isn't the fuel pump. While a dead/dying lift pump sucks, it is infinitely better than the actual high pressure pump dying. As for DEF, uh ya, delete the damn thing. All the emissions garbage is unreliable on any truck.
diesel junk, all the pumps and injectors go bad in every diesel, can't even find a running diesel on marketplace without needing injectors and pumps etc. stick with gas if you want reliability.
Time to delete 😂
Dealers don't want to buy deleted trucks. I had several tell me they would have to perform a emissions inspection.
🤫
@@jjjustin17favsso you swap it back in 😂

As a tech for Chevrolet. This video made me smile. Coop if you need any help, just let me know.
When in doubt, blame the epa.
It would be a shame if all of that emission stuff fell off in a freak accident.

"I'm gonna blame the government for this one." 😂😂😂😂😂
I put my transmission jack under my rear diff to stabilize heavy trucks. I also bought a 12K lift for added headroom.

Must be nice having the garage door open this time of year 😂 ❄️
Must be nice to have a garage to have to open this time of year 😑🙂
I’d honestly like videos of coop just working on daily driver vehicles with random problems because this was hilarious to watch
Definitely agree it's time to delete. One thing I've learned with mine is that if the truck isn't driver regularly it starts getting upset and things start to fail. Especially def
Look on the brightside, at least you have a new fuel pump now. One less thing to worry about. That's what I tell myself when I get it wrong, too. 😂
"Cat piss shower." I'll definitely remember that one when I put DEF in my L5P or Freightliner Cascadia😂
you know you have a friend that fixes this s**t every day..
7:13 jeez bud . Great technique

I said the same thing! Idk why he would have opted to change the fuel pump first…doh
For $800, you could have put in a FASS kit. The cat piss shower had me rolling.😂
FYI def is highly corrosive.

I just started cringing when I saw that DEF go on the floor and thinking about the mess. It’s gonna make them when it dries up. NOT FUN 😑
They should really make those parts in America, give the jobs to American workers. I'm British and American made stuff is always great quality.
I haven’t laughed that hard at a RUclips video in a long time when you pulled that def pump out
Pretty sure I’ve seen a trans jack under a car that’s on that lift. Y not use that for the fuel tank?
Same thought
Would've been a good time to upgrade to a fass lift pump set up
I'm gonna blame the government for this one. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You should put lights on your funnel tree
Cool cool. 600 bucks. I’ve been there, replace a “broken” part and issue persists.
$ 800
Solid job draining the cat piss tank lmao this is the same result I get EVERY TIME I DRAIN ANY FLUIDS lmao
What do you think GMs profit margin is on parts..? That pump probably cost $60 all in to produce...?

Do a collab with Edison motors and build a diesel electric hybrid.
They're hybrid from the factory but no one talks about it. It needs a battery and electric motor to start
Have you seen how expensive their kits are? $$$
coop, that def is highly refined uan nitrogen fertilizer. SUPER salty = super corrosive. its gonna rust the SHIT out of anything it got on. heads up
When troubleshooting always replace the cheapest part when not 200% sure.
Dude just bring the truck to JH for weight reduction and it’ll be the best truck for 200k miles with filter changes, and oil changes
Loading up that parts cannon bud!
I'm glad I still have a 2000 F250 7.3 and don't have to deal with DEF.

Easy fix carb’d 350 swap it and with an RV cam should make more torque than the L5P 👍
lol torque wouldn’t even be close to an lp5 bud.. I love them small blocks myself but they use diesels for heavy pulling for a reason.

If it pumps fuel it is a fuel pump
I just bought a 3/4 ton 1968 GMC. Small block 4 speed. I will never buy a new truck ever!!!
I love 68’s! I got a 84 k20 with a small block and a 86 k10 stepside with a big block. Can’t beat an chevy!
Make sure you put a good additive in the fuel I always used seafoam in my diesel’s
And it is highly corrosive too! That stuff is so nasty!

lol same here

How about a pool update
Not just cat piss. Any piss will do😂😂
Great content thanks for sharing
Most parts have the manufacturing date on them
I hope he was just joking?
1:16 unless gm decides to make them in america. like a smart company would do.
I enjoy your creativity Coop but buy some tall jack supports or ask Cleet for a small favor. He would rather you owe him one than you get hurt.
Some came out than all of it came out.
I’d rather pay more for it to be made in America
man protect yourself from def its not good for you
Long time no see. I know one diesel mechanic.
Mayne next time toss in a block a wood on the lift arm to make up the gap diff .
I was thinking that also.. it’s gets the job done
Delete! Wait until the DEF heaters quit.
You dont need def heaters in florida
buy the automotive lift institute book or download it. well worth it

Well def is urea which is really piss with a flashy name
