There was 2 times that Sark had to call a 1st down to continue his drives when they clearly had been stopped on 3rd down, which he didn’t do for the other QBs. Maybe he wanted to see more from him since he’s TF. It’s one spring game, but he didn’t look like the #1 player in the country.
Arch needs to hit the weights, eat his veggies, and take his vitamins because he's not physically ready for college football. Some of the other QBs are way ahead of him in their development. That's why it was so ridiculous for the recruiting geniuses to rank him as the #1 QB in the country just because of his last name.
@@roris5882it's not "just because of his name" it's the weight that name carries...that name means this kid has three probowl QBs to draw on for support : fundamentals, the more technical aspects of the position, training regimens, reading defenses, everything. He has no real floor as a prospect because of that, and will definitely reach his ceiling because of that.
When Tennessee is Tennessee, Knoxville is as hard to go pull out a road win as there is in the country. LSU is always one of the hardest places in the country, but Florida has to be in the top 3.
The amount a young man matures those first two years out of high school is insane he just needs a minute to adjust before we see what he’s made of too early to tell.
Arch played in the Spring game as I expected. When you consider all of the other top QB recruits in the country purposely competed in the highest level of competition possible like Division 6A in Texas, Georgia, FL, CA, etc while Arch chose to compete in about the lowest possible competitive division, 3A in Louisiana it’s impossible to make a good apples to apples comparison. I watched his recruiting films and it looked like he was playing against Junior High School kids. The speed and talent just wasn’t there. It looked like the defenses were playing in slow motion. It would have been interesting to see what the stats of players like Jackson Arnold and others would have been if they had competed all year in Div. 3A in Louisiana. There is a giant leap from 3A in LA to 6A in Texas. It’s a giant leap regardless of what State you’re competing in from 3A to 6A. It’s not just a one division change but a full 3 division change. I’m actually surprised Arch played as well as he did when you consider the change in the level of competition he is having to adjust to. I’m upset because UT didn’t even try to recruit the no. 1 QB in their own state like Jackson Arnold and instead went all in on a QB who played 3A ball in Louisiana. Same thing they did when they recruited Simms. And we kno how that worked out.
Yeah was just thinking to myself...I can drive by death valley on the interstate/bridge and hear the stadium on game day from there. Its been that way since I was old enough to remember ( im 44 now)I've never been to any of the other stadiums, but watching on TV the only place that looks like it came close was Tennessee, but only if they're doing well, some fair weather fans up there. When Payton played and Tennessee, and even before payton when heath Shuler was the QB it was a mad house at Tennessee. Also from what I've seen on TV Arkansas has a pretty good home field advantage too.
On highly hyped games, TOTALLY agree it’s hands down #1. It just seems if it’s not number 1 Alabama or top 5 UF then it’s empty at halftime. Old man get off my lawn here I guess. Just isn’t what I remember as a child in the mid to late 80’s when we weren’t as spoiled by the championships. Once maybe twice a year yep… hate to be an opposing QB trying to get a snap off in the North end with the game on the line.
He’s still a kid. His game is developing. He still needs to grow a little because he’s not going to play at McNeese state. There will be an adjustment period but he’s a manning between the ears so I think he will be fine.
He looks like he needs to develop for a few years because he's obviously not ready or the #1 QB in the country because of his last name. He played against weak competition so he's not ready.
True freshmen QBs that dominated at a good program: Trevor Lawrence Jalen Hurts Freshmen didn't play back in the 40's, but Harry Gilmer would have also been a dominant true freshman on the 1944 Bama team (He finished 5th in Heisman voting in his sophomore 1945 season and this was in the days of Glenn Davis, Doc Blanchard, and Johnny Lujack).
I hate to criticize a true freshman, but I wonder how focused Arch is on football. I had this feeling since we were recruiting him to UGA. I kept hearing that he wanted to go to a fun college town. That's fine, but not really if you're a QB lol. Every college freshman loses their ID, but he lost it on the first day haha. The spring game was shaky. I just wanna know if Arch loves football, or is he like a kid who inherits the family business.
The kid was basically a high school kid a few months ago, and has been under a microscope. Just back off and give him space to learn and develop. He didn't do himself any favors by touring darn near every college in the country when he knew Texas was his plan. That just amped up the hype.
He's not the #1 QB in his recruiting class. The recruiting geniuses over ranked him because of his last name. He may eventually be a good QB but it's going to take a few yours to develop. The other QBs that played against tougher competition and put up better stats should have been ranked ahead of Arch because they are more developed and better QBs now.
The thing I find funny about this manning thing is the starting qb at Texas actually sat behind Stroud at Ohio state before he went to Texas so for Texas fans and other people to compare a true freshman to ewers is ridiculous.
I was at the game when south carolina beat Alabama and Bama fans were commenting on the atmosphere. Ol willy B is a tough place to play. Can't help it if muschamp teams sucked. Carolina shows out despite having a history of being disappointed.
I'm a Texas fan and I totally agree we haven't done anything over the past 4 years to even be considered in the conversation with those teams, maybe some day in the near future hopefully we can but until we prove our selves then we deserve the ranking
100% agree on your arch manning take.... the kid should be going to prom instead he's playing 20, 21,22 yr Olds give the guy a little bit of time... have a feeling he may make your team cry in a year or 2
I’m a Georgia fan but I was having a conversation with a LSU fan and he told me that LSU will beat whoever at home when they play at night. I started watching to see if it was true. He wasn’t wrong. That year they played Bama and at home at night. I thought they were going to lose but man I was wrong.
@@ckennedy309 The premise is that at night they hardly lose. I’m not saying that they don’t lose at home but they tend to be a lot better when it’s night.
There is only one true freshman that I have ever seen to start from day one and he absolutely made the older players look like children. He also almost won the Heisman Trophy his true freshman year but got cheated because he was a freshman. Best true freshman football player ever i would say. And I haven't seen anyone that has been able to do anything like that. And that true freshman played for an absolute power house college with, there's only ONE OKLAHOMA, BOOMER SOONERS
Probably because he was the most developed and most polished. Arch obviously was over ranked as the #1 QB in the country because of his last name. He played against weak competition in high school and he needs a few years to hopefully develop into a good QB.
As you said, Matt, I too believe AM played exactly to what I expected and to his level. He likely won’t and shouldn’t get the QB1 spot until his Jr year. If he does, it’s only going to hurt his confidence.
Didn't Peyton and Eli play quarterback at that same High School? It's probably a good thing that he's not starting as a freshman and the Texas quarterback almost beat Alabama last year.
There's a difference between winning because you're good (Alabama) and winning upsets at home on a Consistent basis. Auburn stands far above the rest of the crowd here. One yardstick of how much the home crowd affects the game is penalties. LSU, Texas A & M and Florida also have a history of big upsets. Who better to look at than Alabama's struggles in recent years Sat, Sep 18, 2021 @Florida W31-29 (11penalties for 75 yards) Sat, Oct 9, 2021 @Texas A&M L41-38 (8 penalties for 82 yards) Sat, Nov 27, 2021 @Auburn W24-22 4OT (11 penalties for 129 yards) Sat, Sep 10, 2022 @Texas W20-19 (15 penalties for 100 yards) Sat, Oct 15, 2022 @Tennessee L52-49 (17 penalties for 130 yards) Sat, Nov 5, 2022 @LSU L32-31 OT (9 penalties for 92 yards) When I looked at the pre-season schedule w/o the who's Home and Away info listed, ... Alabama - Tennessee and Georgia - Tennessee ... I saw the wins going to the home team
As a football fan I don’t put much stock into the spring game because we end up seeing people who have barely been in the system compared to guys who have at least a year in the system
Honestly, it's the media's fault. Y'all hyped him up to be the next great QB from that family. A lot of us tried to tell y'all that he's been highly overrated his entire HS career. He never played anyone and his team was the IMG of 1A HS football. He needs at least a year to acclimate to game speed 💯🤷🏻♂️
Yall must be YOUNG, there was a few decades where Texas was way better than Bama and they have rhe recruiting ti do it this year. Texas has the QB to do it this year, He's playing for a 1st round draft selection, quinn is gonna ball his ass off
Thank you!! Great video. I appreciate your honesty and your ability to overcome your bias. I am a Vol for life. I saw Peyton play live for the 4 years he was in TN. I agree that Nico will turn out to be the best QB in the country in a few years. Go Vols!! And for you, Roll Tide!!! If you only knew what it takes for me to say that. I remember Condredge Holloway and Johnnie Jones. Have a great day!!
Also people overreacting to spring games are absolutely hilarious because take for example Tennessee. They had 3 scholarship WR playing in the game not to mention the best 2 RB out so the offense will be limited at best. The spring it just to get new players acclimated to the practice setting mostly. Stop with tearing kids down for a meaningless game.
im a texas fan. but i think people are just high on ewers being really good this year especially since he almost beat alabama. Im not expecting us to be crazy but i do expect them to win the big12 championship
Caleb Williams was the last True freshman that I remember being ready in the spring game. He looked alot better than Spencer Rattler from day 1. Spencer was entering his 3rd year at Oklahoma and was the Heisman front runner going into the season. So Caleb Williams would have to be damn good to take his Job as a true freshman. But he did take his job
The thing about Arch that makes him so appealing is his genetics, no player at any school has the genetics of Arch! Then there is the wealth of knowledge he has access too, he has 3 of the best quarterbacks that ever played the game on speed dial!
Of course nobody has his genetics because everyone has their own but just because his last name is Manning doesn't guarantee he will be a good QB. He was obviously over ranked as the #1 QB in the country because of his last name. The QBs in his recruiting class that played against tougher competition and put up better stats should have been ranked higher then him because they are more developed and better QBs then him now.
I told ppl that he was just riding off his family name. Sub- par back-up qb in college. The next great Manning going to college or to the NFL will be an offensive lineman. #MARKMYWORDS
I had a feeling this was going to happen. Manning played a cupcake schedule for his stats in high school, but got smoked in playoff games. If his last name wasn't Manning, he would have maybe been a 3 star QB going to Louisiana Tech
It was nicos first time playing too and he looked alot better than manning and we didnt have our starting wrs which would of made nicos stats alot better
Yup, the other QBs in their recruiting class that played against tougher competition in high school are more developed then Arch and are better QBs now. Arch is going to take a few years to develop to even have a chance at becoming a good QB.
Great video. I’m a Bama fan, but I think it’s way too early to assume we’ll even get to the cfp. I watched A day, and I don’t have any confidence in our QBs. Ifwe couldn’t get there with a Heisman winner, I definitely don’t see it happening this year
I can only speak for myself. When i hear people talking about "home field advantage".... my mind just goes ????? When i played it made 0 difference "where" I was. Most of the time a player becomes so focused on whats going on on the field that the sound in the stadium is totally blocked out. Also it never depended on where i was, i always gave it my very best effort. I think most players feel the same way. I think we all get caught up in the romanticism of the home field advantage .... but in reality i dont think its much of an advantage either way. Players always give their best effort no matter where they play. The home field advantage is primarily psychological for the fans. (Just my opinion).... I think we will begin to see USC in many playoffs over the n decade. Why arent you a USC fan Matt?
@@Raydenalonzogmail like I said at best 9-3 or 10-2 those records in the Big 12 are maybe top 10 but given that they haven’t won that many games in 5 years and haven’t won 10 in the regular season in almost 15 years I’d say it’s unlikely

As a life long LSU fan,… our home field has slipped in the last 10 years or so. Good for 1 game a year when top competition is playing, but typical Saturday night vs unranked or high top 20 SEC team and it’s dead at third quarter. Still love Death Valley but truth is what it is.
Johnny Manziel pretty much dominated when he won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman. Of course, he sucked in the NFL, but we're talking about college ball.
Arch Manning played at the same High School against the same competition level as both Peyton and Eli with none of them ever winning a State Championship. Although Peyton was SEC Freshman of the year if you look at what Eli did in his Freshman year I believe you will see the truth about what most Freshman accomplish. In a few years people will be singing praises to Arch Manning and this will all be forgotten.

@@jonsmith4876 I think there have only been 5 perfect ratings since they started rating kids. Eventually he dropped to a .996 in the finals days before national signing day or something, but honestly that was likely due to the insane backlash the ranking entities were receiving.

He did it with both Murphy and Quinn. Rewatch the game buddy

Bro Florida home field crowd is crazy i dont think you know how crazy it gets at Florida you have to experience it
When Tennessee is Tennessee, Knoxville is as hard to go pull out a road win as there is in the country. LSU is always one of the hardest places in the country, but Florida has to be in the top 3.
Tennessee hasn’t been Tennessee in 15 years. Now It’s Rocky Flop
As a LSU fan Florida is definitely right behind us
I had the same reaction as Matt when I heard that news, but the way he said “TEXAS?!?” All high pitched got me dead
The take on arch manning is very nice to hear you say yes he’s a freshman and by next season I’m sure arch will be ready to go
❤
That's why I like your show u speak the truth even if it's not your team give him time keep up the good work go big orange
here after texas made it lol remembered this vid all the way back when u posted it 🤣
Yeah was just thinking to myself...I can drive by death valley on the interstate/bridge and hear the stadium on game day from there.
Texas has a great team, They have a few Bama coaches on that team who knows what it takes. They have talent at every position.
He’s still a kid. His game is developing. He still needs to grow a little because he’s not going to play at McNeese state.
There will be an adjustment period but he’s a manning between the ears so I think he will be fine.
I’m in Dallas there was a old man used to be on the radio he’s retired Randy Galloway! He used to call the Texas fans the whiney orange!
And alabama fans are spoiled brats
I mean he has time to still develop. Don’t need him to play right now. Let ‘em sit and mature.
He looks like he needs to develop for a few years because he's obviously not ready or the #1 QB in the country because of his last name. He played against weak competition so he's not ready.
@@roris5882 yeah so that why I say sit him and let him learn and get stronger.
@@roris5882 bc his arm is weak as hell
@@dariusmoore654 I agree, his arm strength doesn't look good like everyone would assume a Manning would have.
Arch manning should use all this negative feedback for motivation and next year prove all the haters wrong
True freshmen QBs that dominated at a good program:
Trevor Lawrence
Jalen Hurts
Freshmen didn't play back in the 40's, but Harry Gilmer would have also been a dominant true freshman on the 1944 Bama team (He finished 5th in Heisman voting in his sophomore 1945 season and this was in the days of Glenn Davis, Doc Blanchard, and Johnny Lujack).
He's a rich kid so he has nothing to motivate him except partying and girls.
He wanted to be developed but whatever excuse helps you sleep at night
@@Slick_Nick7567 I was 100% wrong and I'm glad. I'm rooting for the kid expect for when we play lol
@@roris5882
You act like that’s his fault
The thing I find funny about this manning thing is the starting qb at Texas actually sat behind Stroud at Ohio state before he went to Texas so for Texas fans and other people to compare a true freshman to ewers is ridiculous.
Well…at least one of those eight wins were over Bama. 🎉
You do an awesome job and I share your videos. Go Georgia Bulldogs 🏈🏈🏈
I was at the game when south carolina beat Alabama and Bama fans were commenting on the atmosphere. Ol willy B is a tough place to play. Can't help it if muschamp teams sucked. Carolina shows out despite having a history of being disappointed.
Jake Fromm was pretty solid his freshman year, went to the natty that year
Saying TVD not good enough to go to Bama is crazy … acting like Bama players not Human
I'm a Texas fan and I totally agree we haven't done anything over the past 4 years to even be considered in the conversation with those teams, maybe some day in the near future hopefully we can but until we prove our selves then we deserve the ranking
4 YEARS?? YOU MEAN TEN! 🤣🤣
@@esimpson31828 Texas won a sugar bowl 4 years ago. He’s talking 10 wins.
I’m a dawg fan also. Tennessee & USCocks have a better home field advantage than us in the East. They are neck and neck if u attend the game.
Yeah 2021 when Auburn came to LSU at 8pm with a coach from Boise Idaho In his first season in the SEC
And Auburn wins WAR DAMN EAGLE
Alabama usually wins in that stadium. Last year was the first in a while. But it is noisy.
@@ckennedy309 The premise is that at night they hardly lose. I’m not saying that they don’t lose at home but they tend to be a lot better when it’s night.
@@ckennedy309 they do usually win but LSU is definitely one of the teams they’ve struggled with the most
There is only one true freshman that I have ever seen to start from day one and he absolutely made the older players look like children.
First video of yours I've ever seen and it's frickin awesome. I love your energy and wealth of knowledge. I'll be back for sure.

He's so young why r ppl hating so hard he has lots of time to grow
That’s people for ya people gonna hate hate hate that’s what they love to do
Jackson was the best quarterback of that class actually
Probably because he was the most developed and most polished. Arch obviously was over ranked as the #1 QB in the country because of his last name. He played against weak competition in high school and he needs a few years to hopefully develop into a good QB.
Looks like dookie rn 😂
Alabama has no quarterback this year
They have a Wildcat RB. They are so talented they can probably run the Triple Option and play lockdown defense like the 90's Nebraska teams.
Hang tight. I’m willing to bet Nussmeier from LSU is gonna transfer so long as Brian Kelly keeps starting his pet Daniels.
As you said, Matt, I too believe AM played exactly to what I expected and to his level. He likely won’t and shouldn’t get the QB1 spot until his Jr year. If he does, it’s only going to hurt his confidence.
And I think Arch expects exactly the scenario you explained..
Didn't Peyton and Eli play quarterback at that same High School? It's probably a good thing that he's not starting as a freshman and the Texas quarterback almost beat Alabama last year.
As a Bama fan, I agree with you on the stadiums.
Arch playing like Eli
Oh no 😧
He's a freshman , Come On Man !!
Who better to look at than Alabama's struggles in recent years

When I looked at the pre-season schedule w/o the who's Home and Away info listed, ... Alabama - Tennessee and Georgia - Tennessee ... I saw the wins going to the home team
In the spring game Arch played with 2nd and 3rd string in a spring game. He was running for his life. That was by design. Hello.
As a football fan I don’t put much stock into the spring game because we end up seeing people who have barely been in the system compared to guys who have at least a year in the system
The reason people thought Arch should come in and dominate because the media and his last name put that perception in people's minds.
The recruiting geniuses over ranked him as the #1 QB in the country which was ridiculous.
Texas, Texas, in the playoffs. I laughed at your voice infections for ten minutes. Awesome takes, ESPN is in your future.
Dude you know 3 sec teams won’t be in the playoffs and usc still have Kaleb Williams. They’ll be the dark horse
OU fan here. Liked your comment, “…what we doin man, what we do’in…”😂😂😂😂😂
Honestly, it's the media's fault. Y'all hyped him up to be the next great QB from that family. A lot of us tried to tell y'all that he's been highly overrated his entire HS career. He never played anyone and his team was the IMG of 1A HS football. He needs at least a year to acclimate to game speed 💯🤷🏻♂️
I’m a Sooner and I think it is totally ridiculous that he’s taking this much criticism
Facts
True freshman at Oklahoma, Caleb Williams tore it up.
The thing about Arch that makes him so appealing is his genetics, no player at any school has the genetics of Arch! Then there is the wealth of knowledge he has access too, he has 3 of the best quarterbacks that ever played the game on speed dial!
That's wrong.
Archie Manning, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, I guess you're the one that's wrong!
That’s just not how college football works bro
@@aabahdjfisosososos Apparently you don't even know how english works, bro!
That Caleb Williams dude did pretty good as a true freshman.

Caleb Williams at Oklahoma as a true freshman looked pretty damn good
Appreciate you acknowledging lsu got the biggest home field advantage. Players can barely hear the snap count in Death Valley
Arch will do good if his coaches coach him like he needs to be coached. I think he will be fine.
You're 💯 percent right Matt.
Outside of GameDay, ESPN college coverage is a joke especially their recruiting.
I had a feeling this was going to happen. Manning played a cupcake schedule for his stats in high school, but got smoked in playoff games. If his last name wasn't Manning, he would have maybe been a 3 star QB going to Louisiana Tech
I think it's pretty obvious who you put in at #4 Thee Mount Union Purple Raiders!! Boom Baby!

Tha boy just arrived let him develop let him learn the system
It was nicos first time playing too and he looked alot better than manning and we didnt have our starting wrs which would of made nicos stats alot better
Yup, the other QBs in their recruiting class that played against tougher competition in high school are more developed then Arch and are better QBs now. Arch is going to take a few years to develop to even have a chance at becoming a good QB.
@@roris5882 longhorns offense is a lot harder to learn but your right them other QBs did look a bit better
I agree. Players play just as hard on the road as they do at home, max effort. If they're losing on the road they're probably losing at home too...
Matt pretending like Bama wasn't desperately trying to rrcruit Van Dyke lmao
The portal is still open...
Drake Maye and Sam Howell both played at a high level at the start.
this just makes me think Texas is gonna end up starting the season with a top 10 ranking again and they’re j gonna go 9-3 or 10-2 at the best
If they do finish, with said records that’s about top 10 material lol
@@Raydenalonzogmail like I said at best 9-3 or 10-2 those records in the Big 12 are maybe top 10 but given that they haven’t won that many games in 5 years and haven’t won 10 in the regular season in almost 15 years I’d say it’s unlikely
@@clay_utter nah, beg to differ even in the SEC them winning that many games and including a bowl win that’s top ten for sure same goes for the big 12.
Texas is back this year as well?? Wow it's almost like it's every year

@Roris hahaha sounds good texas should win 2 Heismans a national title then just like every year
As a life long LSU fan,… our home field has slipped in the last 10 years or so. Good for 1 game a year when top competition is playing, but typical Saturday night vs unranked or high top 20 SEC team and it’s dead at third quarter. Still love Death Valley but truth is what it is.
Arch definitely was nervous but Ewers balled out his 1st year at Texas spring game
I agree with Matt’s list of the toughest places to play.
"I think you're weird and I think you're a loser" -- my favorite take of the day.
Johnny Manziel pretty much dominated when he won the Heisman Trophy as a freshman. Of course, he sucked in the NFL, but we're talking about college ball.
His substance abuse issues caught up with him in the Pros.
Love from Arkansas
Texas?.....in the playoffs? ESPN needs to shut up and stick to televising games! That's it.
Lol they made it.
Exactly my thoughts about the whole stadium joke, there is no way ole miss is being Kentucky and Missouri lol funniest thing I've seen all day
Arch Manning played at the same High School against the same competition level as both Peyton and Eli with none of them ever winning a State Championship.
Although Peyton was SEC Freshman of the year if you look at what Eli did in his Freshman year I believe you will see the truth about what most Freshman accomplish. In a few years people will be singing praises to Arch Manning and this will all be forgotten.
Well said Matt and i agree with you on who was the best QB in his class
Not only does he have lots of time to grow as a QB but it's not like he was talking smack about how he's so great he was not a cocky guy from what I seen he stayed to himself as much as possible
Yeah he wasn’t hyping himself up, only every recruiting platform in the nation was, and for no justifiable reason. He had a perfect 1.000 rating it’s just nuts
@@claypennington602 he had a perfect rating I damn I thought Quinn and clowny were the only guys to manage a perfect rating
@@jonsmith4876 I think there have only been 5 perfect ratings since they started rating kids. Eventually he dropped to a .996 in the finals days before national signing day or something, but honestly that was likely due to the insane backlash the ranking entities were receiving. It was nuts, any video from On3, 247, ESPN or Rivals that mentioned him was getting destroyed in the comments section. They never addressed why he was ranked so high even though they would talk about how controversial his ranking was, I honestly think they got caught up in the hype of another Manning QB and crowned him without truly truly evaluating him
I’ve never thought UGA home field was worth anything. They’re there because of the Tennessee game. One game isn’t enough to get number 1 in my opinion
