- DYNACO ST 70 tube amplifier. This is my build from scratch amp. Very warm and crispy clear sound. EL34 output tubes (russian Svetlana). Thanks to members from diytube.com for support and help.
Sade cuts are all exceptionally well produced ...sound great on everything...
Herb Wandrei i agree it sound good on all most any set up....people play something else, thank you...
Stereo 70 is an excellent amplifier, sounds very good.
Cheers.
Super! Los amplificadores a válvulas son lo mejor para amplificar el vinilo, saludos desde Colombia.
Beautiful workmanship
Tube amplifiers and Sade...Let me pour myself a glass of sweet wine and enjoy it all.

This is awesome... I love tubes, records and Sade....
It's venerable Williamson design. Try using an EF86 preamp circuit. If you are careful about your resistors and values you can get near 100 db S/N.
I started using the Svetlana/Winged C EL34 14 years ago. I stopped a year ago after one too many cathode failures. The Svetlanas used for EH and other companies are good if well matched. Your power x-former was made at the old Allied plant in Chicago -Triodeel sells em. They are great, but feed them no more than 117 VAC!!
At 60 Hz, you have a little more latitude than at 50 Hz. The higher line frequency makes the power transformer less susceptible to core saturation.
I've used and had great service and sound from Svetlana tubes. Really nice amp. Would love to hear it in person!
Very nice scratch build.
Beautiful amp! Very nice work on the custom case.
Very nice amp.Tubes are the answer.
We will have to take your word that this amp sounds good.
what a crystal clear voice n sound quality.............................no comparison...wallaaa

sounds great on my laptop speakers
great music and sound :)
This amp is not really a Dynaco ST70 other than it being called that for some similar style architecture. This is a FAR SUPERIOR amp to the Dynaco ST70 in that it has far superior iron that is heftier and had a power transformer that delivers much more current. Roman's amp also has a much better driver stage than the original 7199 version was and it has more filtering and separate bias pots for each tube. Nice amp!
nice Micro Seiki ! :-)
Same here, but I use EF86's as they're quieter. 12AU7 to split the phase. Look for the new ST70 power x-former made at the old Thoradsen factory in Chicago -35% more current (better bass). Also make sure you don't allow more than 120VAC in to the amp. 110-117 VAC is the correct range. Have you blow a few Sovtek rectifiers? If so, dats why. (the Ruby's hold up better) Also, above 120VAC your B+ and cathode voltages won't be right. You can also burn up EL34s. Winged-Cs aint cheap!
modified version using 12ax7 as input driver then 12au7 for driver stage......the original st70 uses 7199 penthode triod tubes.
That's a great amp kit. I would love to buy an amp like that.
If you want a more neutral sound (EL34 gives a more brighter tone), and a better bass, yes go with 6L6 tubes or 6L6GC version.
very nice clean look.....sweet!
Triode Electronics -on web. Get the EF86 pre-amp. Make sure you get the new power x-former (35% more current). You might also consider modding for 6L6s -they are a BEAM pentodes and might sound a tad cleaner. But the winged-C EL34 is GOOD. Don't waste big $ on snooty plate caps or speaker wire. They're 100% snake oil. For $50 get the APC 600, This will regulate your mains to 110VAC. Above 120 VAC, you'll be replacing 5AR4s & EL34s weekly. Use phenolic, NOT Chinese sockets! :)
I have an original Mk1 model completely overhauled, the midrange sounds awesome but there are some issues with the treble & bass response, the sound got way better when i replaced the Heathkit valve pre with a Radford SC22 & then improved vastly again with a cable upgrade to Chord company Cobra phono & Chord speaker cable, I still have bass & treble issues & if anything the cable & pre-amp upgrade has exasperated the flaws in the original ST70 design... next move is the Alan Kimmel upgrade kit.
Looks and sounds great !
Nicely done!
very nice work
The hi end sounds a bit harsh. You may want to use a higher-end preamp to smooth things out. I've heard this amp in person and it's just AWESOME!
If you`ve heard this amp in person and it sounds awesome should`nt that tell you the reason this sounds harsh is because of this sound clip being recorded with a very very cheap mic on a cheap camera !!!!! Even the most expensive mics have difficulty reproducing proper bass
Thank you.
The more technical and amazing gear people get the blander their taste seem to get.
Considering a Micro Seiki DD-40 myself. Apparently it's pretty good at rejecting speaker resonances, considering it's sitting on the same shelf as your speakers. Bad practice, but good demonstration of the TT's abilities :-).
@cawa72 Thanks! Next project is guitar tube amp.
Stay tuned :)
Thanks!
Thanks.
Sadly very poor recording quality, but I am sure the real life sound is terrific. Very nice build.
It is terrific. Thank You!
And speakers on the same surface at the turntable.... I run a crappy pioneer SS and a heavily isolated Luxman table and that would be feeding back at half a watt.
The good svetlanas are the winged C version, they are almost as good as the holy grail RCA black plates.

LONG LIVE VINYL
@floridafyme Thank you.
@44433391 Most guitar amps are MONO and have build in preamp.
Very good! What Svetlana are you using it? SED (Winged C) or Svetlana (from Sovtek)? Both are almost identical aesthetically.
TullioWalker
yuck
IMHO - that amp would sound better with Sovtek 6L6WXT+ power tubes or Gold Lion KT66's - especially when pushing the amp - the GL KT-66's would sound better at higher volumes due to the fact that they are cleaner sounding tubes at higher volumes.
Did you bridge the Tube amp with you're home amp to make it louder or do you have the speakers plugged in directly from the tube amp ?
I have a dynaco ST-70 along with a custom tube pre-amp. My question is what speakers are going to benifit most from a system like these?
Sounds fantastic. Just built a vacuum tube amp from a kit and I want to share a video like yours. How did you record the video so the audio is so clear? What video/audio equipment did you use?
UM bom celular em HD pode dar um som bastante proximo ao original ,EXPERIMENTAR
@@eduazasmax say what?
This one is for sale. Check your messages.
Thank you for comment.
bonne amplifier tube
will the sound get distorted if you crank the tube, like in tube guitar amp?
I want to know how Dynaco got 4 EL-34 power tubes to run off of one CZ-34 rectifier tube?
Beautiful. Better than the dynaco.. i don,t like the pcb,s. I,m a purist snob maybe.
Beautiful work and wonderful amp. I love mine, but it tended to blow fuses so I replaced the rectifier with a solid state Weber Copper Cap. Works great as you can see in this video: ruclips.net/video/cLIOW28RxXo/видео.html
You have the speakers rattle at the same plank as the turntable is spinning?
Seriously!
Hello, beautiful team, I would like to build one, you have the scheme to pass it on.
Audio Asylum, Audiogon, eBay, Craigslist ... Did you just get the interweb?
Sade would sound just as good on an 8 track.
Edison73100 Hey, don't knock 8 tracks, I used to have a really good one. They sound better than cassette tape because there is twice as much recording width on the tape.
What turntable are you using?
hello what are the 3 valves of forward
Was it a kit? Were can I buy one
Were can I buy a chassi like the on the video?
Not bought, build.
@TullioWalker, Winged =C=, made in Russia.
Russian tubes are cool. Do you know Natasha Se 18w tube amplifier?
@conjering Not a kit.
How much is for this kit
Music?
I'm afraid the speakers are too small for it...
Micro Seiki DD 40
nossa! fiquei com injeva aqui! kkkkkkkkkkk
what level of difficulty is building one of these could someone with average electrical skills make one?
This kit is super simple
+SuperDave Moore HIGH VOLTAGE at 480v to 500v will scare you.
This is not a kit.
If I can do it you can do it :)
nice sound, but them tube amps just look like an accident waiting to happen.
Very nice table and amp but dump the pre-amp! Godawful. That amp would be better served if you use a high quality vintage preamp from Fisher, Marantz or McIntosh!
Very nice Madison Fielding stereo tube pre amp with twin magic eye DB indicators! Also very good phase linear A4000
Schlipperschlopper ū
Why go to all that work and use the inferior Dyna transformers and circuit?
I don't think I'll be buying an ST-70,....those things are way too HARSH. My Akai M8 sounds way better with analog tape.
that's not a dynaco st 70

Sounds shockingly bad.
