Ah twas a bit confusing but Jaz rolled 8 and the first step was off the trap button onto the blue tile. She then only had 7 steps to take.
This is different rules from the original rule set from the 90s. My mom was a preschool teacher and the kids loved to play it. One of the parents was really confused at how her 3 year old learned to count to 6 so quickly.
Also, in terms of board games from the 90s. 13 Dead End Drive got a reprinting to celebrate its 25th anniversary. I wish there was an online version of it, other than the one in Tabletop Simulator.
I remember playing a version of this where you built the contraption as you played. Like, you'd do a thing and then add a piece of the machinery.
And then the end of the game was basically everybody running around the same tiny circle until all but one person got trapped.
Kinda neat seeing a different version; whether due to different rules or dumb kid me just not understanding the actual rules.
It sounds like you're probably one of the few childern in history who played the game correctly as a child.
This is how I played, too! Building the trap was part of the gameplay!
Yeah, the mechanism is perhaps the most fun part of Mouse Trap. Intruiged to see how it translates to a videogame.
Edit: the answer is apparently, it does so fantastically.
It’s very simple but somehow very pleasing to watch, like most board games it’s nice to have a chill gameplay with your friends 😊
One of my favorite board games, I can already feel it's gonna be a good video.
It's pretty funny 😅😏
The VFD I was a member of one year actually did make fire hydrant back backs to give to students during fire safety week.
I played the game by the rules... looking at photos online I am seeing 2 versions of the board, a big loop with four places to swap to the opposite side of the board and the one I had which was a single path with a small loop at the end. Spinners were not involved. The trap was built over the course of the game, you cold get to the end where there was a lot of cheese before the trap was complete, but because you are now in a small loop you are frequently able to be trapped.
First game Jas on her final turn spent her first movement stepping off of the trap button, that is why she only moved 7 when she rolled 8.
This is delightful!! I never played this game as kid but watching ya'll play it is really fun.
YAY!!! I've been waiting for this!
I've not played Mouse Trap for years since I was a kid.
Part of the actual board game was setting up the trap. There were cards with each trap piece that could be pulled. If a player pulled the trap piece they placed it on the board and once totally set up the trap could be triggered. Big difference is if a player was caught in the trap they were out of the game.
I remember playing this game when I was young. you were meant to assemble it as you're playing. Only part that broke eventually was the boot that was meant to kick.
I'm with Aenne on provolone. It's better than no cheese on something, but if you have *any* other options it's a waste of a flavor slot.
I remember Mousetrap. I assume my experience with the game was like everyone else’s. We didn’t actually play the board game, we just set up the trap and watched it go.
This was even more appetizing than it was nostalgic. Im gonna go eat something now
MOUSE TRAP WAS MY CHILDHOOD
So fun fact, the closest "real world" equivalent we have to cartoon cheese is Emmental, which is the true Swiss cheese, coming from Emme Valley, Switzerland. Also, I've personally recently been obsessed with eating whole blocks of Havarti cheese with honey. Highly recommend.
Omg I loved Ready Set Spaghetti!! I played by myself as a kid. Haven’t thought about that game in a while. 😊
IT'S SO GOOD (Aenne)
OMG I love this. Can't wait to play it with my son.
Aww, Jasmine's little "but I love brie Ash, and I love you" was cute ❤️
Mousetrap definitely wasn't a game I can say I absolutely loved from what I remember. I mean, at one point I had that "build-it mousetrap" game but even that sucked.
Also, while you all were talking about old board games, I was reminded of a game I don't ever remember playing but we had: the Rollercoaster Tycoon Board Game.
I'd love to know if there is a mobile version or some form of digital version of it (that isn't just tabletop simulator) so I could try and play it to see if it's any good.
"i love brie & i love you" wahhh
memory unlocked, the pretty pretty princess game, I played with my sisters set all the time as a kid, put on the earrings and necklaces and stuff only for it to make a lot more sense when I found out that I am a woman.
I love those gender revelations! (Aenne)
ah this bring back my childhood my brother (who born on 88) teach me how to play this! but sadly when i ask my friends to play with me nobody know about it because it's not popular on 2010...
Kerplunk was another great one from back in the day
I just noticed this was on PS5. I may pick this up. Looks super fun
I like your gameplay and commentary you have my support I liking the video and I subscribe to you
at 17:30 - Jazz did roll 8, but she moved one before picking the path!
I own both the 80's and 2000's version of Mall Madness! It's been a source of great memories for my friends and I over the years. Can I bring them and play with you guys?
I was so confused because I’ve never seen this set of rules for mouse trap, and I played it on the ds where this would have been great for the limited power of it, but compared to the build it single path version it seems a lot more like sorry or trouble then mouse trap and the Rube Goldberg machine of the classical game so it seems a lot more boring to play repeatedly when you only pull the lever.
I only played this on Gameboy (SP), so I it was really interesting to see it in a different format…
I feel like remembering how to spell a word isn't the same as recognizing the word when you see it
I mean... It's always the spouse.
@30:46 It was a race to 6 cheese wedges in the board game.
Ash was such a meanie to Aenne this game boo 😂

Ash either has a vendetta against Anna or he’s just outright bullying her, I just don’t like it at all from him 😒
It's all good! We sass each other equally! (Aenne)
