I too own both. I bought the Submariner in 1962 and the Moon Watch in 1970 before it went to the moon. I too love both of them but the Submariner is almost indestructible and the Omega is not. Also My Rolex is Superlative Chronometer and my Omega is not.But I am partial to Black dials and stainless steel and these are my two favorite watches and both have lasted me about 1/2 of a century and next to no upkeep. Try that with a cheap watch.
This convinced me to get a 14060. The bezel turning at 2:00 was the highlight of the video. Unfortunately, those old bracelets with the one permanent link at the clasp fit oddly on my 6.75 inch wrist.
The Sub and Speedy are both on my short list and am planning on buying one or the other in a few months. For some reason, the more I see the Submariner, the more I want the Speedy. Maybe it's because I don't have any chronographs. lol
Two very classic and beautiful watches. I prefer the Sub because of its classic design and size. 42mm is too big IMO. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with either.
The Omega Speed Master for sure, the video does not do justic. The Speedmaster is much more attractive in reality. The Rolex is very attractive too of course.
I prefer the Rolex Submariner in this segment because it looks more Elegant and Rugged at the same time. The Omega Speedmaster in White Gold is indeed better and much more sophisticated.
sebwrafter the bracelet doesn't feel like it's a super high quality item. They are certainly lighter in build than a modern solid link bracelet, and they make more noise ie. rattle. But they are built strong enough, and the lightness and taper add to the comfort. They just look more pleasing to the eye than a modern straight cut link, and accentuate the actual watch (illusion of looking larger).
My Speedy is made from steel so it was largely unaffected. But you do raise a good point, perhaps NASA should have included the push away on a desktop test in their rigorous evaluation for space flight and EVA. .
Solid links are overrated. They add no functionality to the watch, and unwanted extra weight. The bracelets on the proper Rolexes (the ones that made the company what it is today) had folded links, and this style and hollow links did just fine for 50 years. Don't go looking for value at this price point.
Fake or not the bracelet release on the Speedy Pro is not a Speedy Pro release. The Pro has two small buttons on either side. The bracelet looks more the one found on the Speedy Reduced. What's up?
The bracelet you are talking about is the model 1998. I hate this fat non-tapered bracelet, so I changed to the 1171 bracelet you see in the video. It is a cheaper and lighter bracelet, and I much prefer it.
I would expect watches at this price to have solid metal links and good sturdy clasps in order to prevent the watch sounding like a rattly old piece of tin. The straps sound so cheaply made, and the folding parts of both of these claps looks like something you would see on my cheap Citizen. Saying that, my strap actually doesn't sound this hollow and cheap!
you could compare a Submariner with a Planet Ocean, or a Speedmaster pro with a Daytona. comparing these 2 watches is like comparing a plane with a boat. such a useless video. male male.
dlhussain81 OK you Rolex stupid fanboy. Try to use capital letter for both brand please. The submariner is not the iconic Rolex model ignorant. Omega was creating watches 60years before Rolex, so have some respect for a legendary brand which made history.
The fact you are picking on capital letters shows you are one sad loser. The phones auto capitalisation is responsible for that as I cant be asked to capitalise or use apostrophes! You are just some poor f*cker who cant afford rolex. Before responding realise that I look beyond common brands like rolex/omega!
Speedy looks too old school and a bit dull with that charcoal face. I respect that it went to the moon and survived NASA's tests but it's just a bit too bland. It has a very scientific look to it, like something that would be used in a lab back in the 60s. The submariner has classic good looks but also looks contemporary. It's also an automatic and more durable here on earth where we have lots of water!
rspcamatthew maybe you own casio or swatch only ha ha...anyways for guys keeping telling co-axial, this technology does not exist yet when these models were introduced...
see how the omega is treated at 1.07 , say no more !
respectless and unprofessionel
10 years later and I'm reading your comment thinking the guy that made this video is an arse.

The sound the bezel makes on the Submariner though..

I was literally drooling on the Omega Speedmaster in White Gold, until I saw this.
The Omega Speed Master for sure, the video does not do justic. The Speedmaster is much more attractive in reality. The Rolex is very attractive too of course.
I like the sub better. Wish to add it to my collection one day

The Omega Speedmaster in White Gold is indeed better and much more sophisticated.
I should also add that both watches are now worth 20-40 times more than what I paid for them. Try to do that with good Wall Street Stock.
how is the quality of the 1171 bracelet?

Just ran into this vid. Nice way to treat your Speedy. Pushing it away like that! What’s a matter with you?
My Speedy is made from steel so it was largely unaffected. But you do raise a good point, perhaps NASA should have included the push away on a desktop test in their rigorous evaluation for space flight and EVA. .
Amigo tengo una pregunta ¿cuanto vale el omega que aparece en el vídeo? le agradecería la respuesta y gracias de antemano
aproximadamente 5,000$
Josh the Sub is just big enough for me. The Speedy is perfect, but I have 8 1/2" wrist!

Thanks for taking the time to answer.
They´re both great watches but very different designs. I wish I could own both one day but as for now I only got the Speedmaster Pro.
7 years ago... 👀
Omega wins because of greater looks and a higher precision movement (co-axial)

To me, the lighter the bracelet, the better. I really have no desire to have an $1.20 worth of stainless steel weighing my wrist down.
you could compare a Submariner with a Planet Ocean, or a Speedmaster pro with a Daytona. comparing these 2 watches is like comparing a plane with a boat. such a useless video. male male.
Think he's comparing iconic Rolex model with iconic omega model... But again it's like comparing a BMW with a Volkswagen

dlhussain81 Stop saying bullshit and dont tell me your stupid story contemptuous piece shit
learn how to spell d!ck head or maybe you don't know how to express yourself in english? either way it explains why you're a poor little f*ck
Speedy wins!
Really don't get how ppl prefer the rolex!.. It's not a patch on the speedy... The most over rated watches goin

No co-axial on this one though
I love my Moonwatch !
サブマリ羨ましい
Nice look at two fake watches.
