I’m about to start my chilli sowing and I’m doing quite a few new to me ones especially some from the USA and Norway. The Sugar Rush Stripy & the Mattepeno are the two I’m most excited about so I’m going to try half the batches of seed raw & half soaked in tea to see which gives me a better germination rate. I saw you do this last year but I’d already sown mine before I watched the video
Moroccan food is the most delicious food in the world. I have been to Moroccan restaurants in London and have tasted food over there. It was really delicious. I wish to visit Morocco one day. 💘💘 Stephanie from London
Great video I’ve never been able to get my own chilly seeds to grow I soaked them in tea put them into a glass tube put it on my sky box and they all sprouted
Thank you so much for sharing this tip! I used it last year and great success with germination of cayenne peppers and sweet peppers. Can’t wait to get going again this year. Both of those varieties did well outside in Kent in a full sun position. Are there any other varieties you would recommend for my growing conditions? (I don’t have a greenhouse)
If you get a pack of seeds that you don't know - like the hot pepper mix - simply Google the number on the packet, it is the supplier's code for that particular variety etc Steve
🌶 So here we are once more, it’s Chilli time! It’s been a year 😯 Sowing Chilli seeds has become the start of my new gardening year because it’s such an identifiable point on the calendar. I was out today harvesting more 🌶 🫑 that were falling off the dying plants in my Greenhouse - they’re still on the last of my plants because I have no space anywhere for them. Very excited to get going again. I am going big on 🌶 in 2022 - definitely the crop I am most excited for. Those lidded pots are ideal little things - I’ve been using yoghurt pots but like yours much better.
they're old sauce tubs from when we get a takeaway. I know what you mean, they're one of those plants that just give so much pleasure, even if i can't handle the heat lol
Hi hope you and your lovely family are all well. Really informative video as always. My question is, I make my tea in a tea pot, could I use my cold leftover tea from my tea pot as way to get seeds to soak or that will be to strong tea? Thank you for you videos
What a great idea! As soon as you said soak them in tea a bell went off in my head from my mum who used to do the same with her seeds ... she also used to surround her roses with leftover tea leaves. I am so on this thanks :D :D :D
In the two years I've been gardening I've produced only two chilli's. From lots to seeds to a few plants to just two chilli's. A lot of effort for very little return. I'm going to try this method. Will there updates for us real novices who are watching you avidly? PS copied your tips on garlic planting and it's working 😊😊😊😊
The biggest issue with chillies is the heat, a good level of light and in closed areas they need to be hand pollinated. Here's a playlist of videos showing how I grow chillies from seed to harvest.ruclips.net/p/PLNBh-xpyg_q9hoiHO7m87AQv-pm3dFE4h
I’m planning on sowing some of my chilli seeds in the next few weeks and I will give the tea soaking a try. Would you advise sowing all my varieties together of doing the hotter ones first then waiting a few weeks to sow the milder chillis and bell peppers?
Mothin, I tried to germinate some cayenne seeds last year with very poor germination. They were old seeds so I am trying your method right now. Cheers for that! :)
Help! Soaked seeds in tea & some have germinated but are now shrivelling up! They’re in heated prop, vents open with growlight over & it’s not overly warm, Any suggestions?
Hello. Wonderful video- good tips. In your experiance which is the easiest chilli seed to germinate and grow. Medium heat. Your mum idea of dipping seeds in weak tea solution, does it work with all small seeds? I would be growing in allotment- cold frame- plants. Seedd I will grow from home, near the radiator. Does it matter which type of compost, whether peat free or with peat. Thank you very much. Dr Joginder Singh
@@MyFamilyGarden Yeah, looks a tricky one to germinate, but I'll try & get hold of it. Found the German Chilli & Tomato seed sites pretty good variety wise & not too costly.... Bahamian Goat, CGN 21500 less than €2. Although there is one seed provider much closer to home in Mansfield.....20 seeds 😱
Love My Chilly....Thanks for the information.... Yes don't touch your eyes or lips and Sorry to say don't even touch your face mask which I did at the shop the other day....Omy Goodness my face was very Warm all day long .... lol 🙊 Happy New Year and a Belated Xmas Tc Stay Safe 👍s✌💛🇦🇺

love your videos
Very useful information, than you and greetings from South Africa.
Thanks very much great idea
Love and Care is all you need. Oh and a cuppa tea
Good info to grow them indoors ready for spring planting Thank you 😊
I meant to sow them about a month ago because they need that long season
I'll try that this year 👍
Cheers for the tip mate 👍🏼

Jalapenos will be good, so will the hot waxs, I like Hungarian hot wax, nigel outdoor green was developed close to you so that should be ok too
Thankyou, Thankyou, I think you have solved my conundrum.
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Excited to get the chillis 🌶 this year
New sub. Defo going to try this 👍

great tip
Another great video . Can you expand on where you keep them until the frosts are over?
I'll keep them under lights for the next couple of months, a video on it is coming this week

Absolutely brilliant video learnt a lot many thanks my friend 🤝
hi a got my sauce its some good stuff really nice mate thanks hope you had a good one all the best mate
So glad you're enjoying them. All the best for 2022
How do you hand pollinate and regarding covering with a bag, do you just put a clear plastic bag opening downwards on top of the chilli plant
Hi hope you and your lovely family are all well. Really informative video as always.
My question is, I make my tea in a tea pot, could I use my cold leftover tea from my tea pot as way to get seeds to soak or that will be to strong tea?

We're good thank you hope you are too. If the tea looks really strong add some cold water to it to dilute it
@@MyFamilyGarden thank you! I
Thanks for the video. How long do you soak them?
Is it just to rehydrate before sowing, or do you wait for them to germinate in the tea?
I normally soak them for about a day then sow them into soil
Thank you for sharing this. As soon as my Christmas decs go away next week I'll be sowing some chilli and aubergines
Hello my friend where do you get those containers you put your chilli seeds and tea in your videos are very helpful
they're just old sauce tubs from when we get takeaways
I might work for other types of seed as well, I'll have to try that, thanks.
It does, i use it for any seeds that are hard to germinate
What a great idea! As soon as you said soak them in tea a bell went off in my head from my mum who used to do the same with her seeds ... she also used to surround her roses with leftover tea leaves. I am so on this thanks :D :D :D
These traditional methods have a lot of magic to them
@@MyFamilyGarden they do indeedy
Thanks for the tips! Going to try soaking my chilli seeds this year! My chilli plants were disappointing last year.
you're very welcome, hope you have better results this year
Love your vids.
I am just about to do this, I will soak my pepper seeds in Betty’s tea, very posh!😉
Great video. Bro can you do video in growing Karela (bitter gourd) from seed to harvest. Not sure if they can be grown in UK

I don't think there's any point in waiting, i plant enough to fill my propagator in one go, no point wasting electic
Jzk for another great video.
Pls can you recommend a propagater that is effective and reasonably priced.
Here's a comparison of a couple

Yes definitely

Take a look at today's video, I answered your questions in detail
Nice mate, very informative, I'm going to be following what you did with the packet seeds 👌👌🙂🙂
good luck with it let me know how you get on
I keep my chilli harvest in the freezer. Would I still be able to use those seeds?
I would give it a try!
Nothing to lose really except a little time and potting mix.
I've done seeds from ones in the fridge before but not the freezer. I guess it wouldn't hurt in trying
Salam Bhai, should I use the tea solution on seeds that were harvested this year?
walaikum salaam, for fresh seeds it's not necessary
@@MyFamilyGarden sorry I forgot to mention that these were harvested this year, but have been subsequently dried. Thank you!!
asaalam o alaikum i just subscribed bruv
Tannins are found in tea and are naturally found in plants and are antibacterial and slightly acidic maybe this is why the seed responds.
Can i ask where you get you're seeds from?
premier seeds
hi Monty ill have to give my Chillie seeds a tea soak have you tea soak bell peppers before ?? . all the best for 2022 ivan
this works with bell peppers, the sweet pepper i mentioned was a bell pepper type.
@@MyFamilyGarden thanks for that Monty
Capsicum Flexuosom would seem to be frost hardy, but quite difficult to germinate.
That's definately getting added to the list

Always have poor germination rates with chilli seeds, thus will try this method next month
