Everything is literally perfect EXCEPT the switches. GAH. I'm so heartbroken this isn't hot-swappable. I love the layout, keycaps, design, colors, the little ears 🥺 GOSH DARN IT
They NEED to sell these keycaps separately. I would absolutely buy a set. The soldered blues are just just not for me, and based on the housing sizing you would need to do a stem swap and keep the outemu housing. Could be alright, if it supports standard sized stems, but it really may not even be very possible!
It's funny that I'm looking through the comments and I have absolutely idea what most of y'all are saying past the first sentence! I don't know any tech speak. 😆
@@katato Hot swappable keyboards have sockets on the PCB for the switches, you can pull the switches out and replace them by plugging the new ones in, while non hot-swappable ones have the switches soldered directly onto the PCB, to replace switches you must desolder by melting and removing the soldering then replace the switches and then solder the new switches on, with a soldering iron. Is this explanation clear to you?
as a person who knows like literally nothing about keyboards, this keyboard seems absolutely perfect to me like. the design is so cute omg and the glow effects are really cool idk why everyone is complaining about the 'switches' tho, does it have to do with the sound or something? to me the sound is fine too idk
hi! the switches are what make the "clicky" noise when you press a key :) there are tons of different brands and different kinds (usually differentiated by colour) that are typically used for different purposes. in a general scope for an example, the blue switches here are known for being particularly loud and clicky-you'd get blue switches mainly for the sound. (i personally love blue switches, but their volume isn't for everyone!) it's common to see red switches used for gaming because they're slightly quieter and have a shorter travel distance/activation time which basically means that the key press registers without you needing to press the keycap all the way down, making gaming reflexes faster. brown switches are commonly used for typing purposes because of how they help with keypress accuracy (slightly longer actuation needed for a keystroke to register, so you get less accidental button presses) and their fairly quiet sound. lots of things affect the sound of a keypress, including the switch, they keycap, and the board material, but those are just some basic things to help contextualize! onto why people are complaining: with most mechanical keyboards, the switches are hot-swappable. this just means that you can very easily take out the switches and replace them with another type. this customization factor is a huge selling point on the best boards on the market; some people prefer certain types of switches over others, so being able to change them out at your convenience is great. but the switches on this particular board are unfortunately not swappable so you're essentially stuck with the blue switches unless you start going into heavy modding, which isn't reasonable for a lot of more casual keyboard collectors/regular people. if you like blue switches, then that's good for you, but they tend to be very hit-or-miss and that lack of customization ability is a huge con for a lot of people, especially those who are more into mechanical keyboards and board customization. hopefully this all made sense and helps explain it a bit! :)
I was seriously considering this one when I wanted my first mechanical keyboard and looked into Iqunix (which led me to your F96 video and many more ) but I couldn’t buy it when I saw the blue switches but not hot-swap. Would like to see you mod it! (Hopefully you decide to put some different switches on haha)
I bought this because I was planning to replace the switches but....... I didn't expect they used different size switches..... that's why there was no other switch option. Anyway I will try spray lubing or something at least.
@@3ildcat maybe you should try to use another khail switches instead of blues? And it would be interesting to use some sound absorbing material here if possible :3
I have this keyboard and I love it. It’s so unique and being cat-obsessed, I had to have it. The switches are actually pleasant and the typing experience is great. I don’t use the backlight much so the battery lasts a while. The only thing I hate is the space bar rattle. I don’t mind the general sound of it, but that space bar almost made me regret the purchase. I’ve gotten used to it, and every time I look at this keyboard, can’t help but smile.

mod what exactly? - you can't change the switches due to reduced housing, so even if you can desolder, there's nothing you can do - desolder and add pcb foam? won't do much to dampen the clicks tho, sound difference will be negigible - tape mod? might improve the sound but can also make it louder - stab tuning? doesn't look viable since the keycaps are made to fit costar stabs - change the keycaps? it's the literal selling point of this board, cat shapes everywhere the only mod that seems worth doing is case dampening with either foam or silicone drop or, if you're extremely dedicated and have a whole lot of free time, you can desolder, disassemble each switch and remove the clickbar to turn them into linears... after that, some of the other mods might be doable... but idk if it's worth the trouble for a board that isn't even QMK driven
I have this keyboard in blue and I really love it. Personally, I love the sound it makes, I think it's very satisfying. I've added cute orange kitty keycaps to mine b/c I have an orange cat, and I think the touches of orange go great with the blue. My family does comment on how loud it is, but since I'm the one using it, I don't care what they think. I would fully support the keycaps being sold seperatly though and being able to change out the switches. I fully understand why the sound would bother some people, as it is rather loud.
