Don’t use crab from your local grocery store. These are blue crabs that have been frozen practically alive and very fresh for the purpose of making the raw dish similar to sushi grade fish. The marinade of salty soy sauce with a ton of fresh minced garlic and Korean chili powder pretty much should keep any bacteria away and preserve the raw crab. Marinade at least overnight in refrigerator. The higher the quality of blue crab, the more expensive. The higher the quality, the flesh will taste sweeter and have a firm texture. Better to buy premade at Korean grocery or restaurant if you’re not sure about ingredients and how to prepare safely.

They actually dont use fresh raw crabs , they thaw frozen crab to make this . I guess maybe that's the reason it isn't unsafe to eat it .

Agree with you. Is it supposed to taste fishy? I really like crab but when i tried both version of raw marinated crab i prefer cooked crab more.
Usually fishy flavors mean that the seafood isn’t as fresh.
If it's fishy it means you didn't get the fresh crabs.
