Interesting reaction. The author wrote Dune to warn us about following charismatic leaders and the dangers of organizied religions. Both were made clear in the book and the movie but some people still rooted for Paul. Paul is from royalty. Trained by his father to rule over people and his mother to understand different cultures and their beliefs so they can better control them.. So it's not a coincidence he understood Freman language and customs. The moral compass in this movie was Chani. She fought for her people not for Paul. She believed if there was a Messiah it should come from her people not a white savior. But the movie does show that even today people will still cheer and follow leaders who tell them what they want to hear. Paul is not a hero and because of his actions billions of people will die from war and famine because Paul cut of spice to the other planets that don't bow to him.

Not sure it's explained very well in the films - although it is hinted at - the shields stop anything fast, so bullets (or shrapnel from artillery) don't work - but in the desert, shields drive worms into a killing frenzy, so you can't use them there - hence the strange mix of guns and sword. ALSO - a laser intersecting a shield causes a huge explosion (nuclear-sized) at both the shield and in a feedback loop to the laser weapon itself, so you can't use them on anything shielded. Hope that helps :)

Fun fact : 32:08 The first kiss was in the script, the second one was improvised by Austin Butler.

In one of the Dune prequel books the creator of the shield was trying to deal with a slave labor revolt where a revolting slave entered his personal residence with a laser weapon. He turned on his personal shield for self protection and the slave fired the laser at him. The whole city was vaporized in a nuclear explosion. Oops!

21:38 he is the chosen one. Alia comes later. Bur in the book, she was about to be born. Also the timeline in book is different. 33:46 also: this all is going acording to a plan :)

Lol, I was confused about how you got so confused. 😂 When the reverend mother said abomination, it was for his sister." She was born a reverend mother in the womb without training.

He may not really be the "Chosen", but he's the way to the "Chosen". More on that next time. Ralphie, I just love watching you get astonished (or anything else). 💛

This is the best reaction I have seen of this movie. Paul is neither a hero nor the villian just a great character. Well you can say somewhat he is a villain. Kind of Hitler and Genghis Khan. You will get your answers in Dune Part Three.

Rabban is a bad boss. Stilgar is my favorite.

The bene gesserit bred bloodlines to create the one. Feyd rautha offspring could be a kwisatz haderach if trained like paul had been. The plan was for leto's daughter who should have been born instead of paul to be married to a guy in harkonnen family.
