Life thrives in the biggest desert of India!
It is so big that Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand can fit inside it!
85% of the Thar desert is in India, and 15% of it is in Pakistan. It is the 10th largest desert in the world!
The Thar Desert is home to around 2.2 crore people (that’s equal to the population of Jammu & Kashmir).
It is also the most densely populated desert in the world with 83 people per square kilometre!
Because it receives the lowest annual rainfall in all of India, the people of Thar have to constantly face a water crisis
But what I saw in my seven days in Thar reinforced my opinion that the people of the desert are resilient people who create life out of barren land and live a full life!
