My uncle introduced me to this movie in the early 90's as a kid. I wasn't interested until he said sit in THIS chair while I turn up the bass and surround sound. I thought, cool, surround sound, I wonder what that is? Then the soft intro to rumbling of the jet engines to takeoff had me hooked. Needless to say, his living room shook while we shouted at each other trying to hear one another. Through my childhood I'd always ask if we can watch Top Gun when I'd visit. One of my most memorable movie experiences to date.
Never have I been so excited for a film. Sad I know but I must of watched top gun about 500 times. Know the words from beginning to end and still watch it now if it's on tv. Its called face softening software. Everything is shot with digital cameras, it's easy to run the program and ,surprise, the wrinkles are gone. All the studios us it and have been for years. You can find before and after pictures on the net of what the actors really look like.

I was 15 years old when my dad took my brother and I to see the first Top Gun at the theatre on Highway 17 in Myrtle Beach SC while on vacation. I can remember getting goose bumps when the music played as the movie started. I get those same goose bumps at 49 years old when I watch this trailer.
I was 16 and smuggled beers into the cinema, the last few scenes of dogfights were a complete confusing blur, I was arseholed on 4 cans and a pre-loaded 1.5 ltr bottle of cider. Happy days!
I was 16 years old and went go see this the first Top Gun with a church group that I was a part of. Watching the love scene come on and the church Youth Group leader just a few seats away- AWKWARD! Of course, the very next day, my grandmother took me to go buy the original motion picture soundtrack on tape. I listened to that constantly over the summer. I still have the tape and was happy to get it on cd. To this day, every time I hear that 'don', I get chill bumps. I am *soooo* looking forward to seeing this in the movie theater. :-D
First of all... thanks to legendary Tony Scott... a man who brought first Top Gun and inspired most 80s kids.. or inspired all aviators now in services.. and secondly an honor to Harold & Steve who compose the TopGun Anthem.. u guys are truly legend!!!
I was born in 2002 and I love 80s movies and 80s, 70s music so I'm excited for this movie. Top Gun is my favourite.. I wish i could experience the 80s, i hope that someday 80s would come back.
born in 83, 80's and 90's were probably the greatest decades in the last 100 years, 70's is a close 3rd but still a lot of social discord, war etc. 2010-2020 is a shit show.

Nope that goes to star wars and jaws, based on how much was spent to make it, tom is going to be so rich, that he is a super star noe, he will be this time likesay some of the actors from the 1950's and 1960's lets see, Kirk Douglas ( Which i went to the movies to see the film countdown) , Gary Grant, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Frank sinatra, now you tell me as far as war movies which actor represents the total amount of money ernt making movies, also lets not forget tom van fly his own planes and even helicopters, which is to say if he wanted to he could be a commercial pilot in fact i think he has a commercial pilots license, he owns a restored P 51 mustang and just that alone makes him rich, i would say in the 1 billion dollars worth, after he receives the royalties from the first day around the world and then all the merchandising stull like models planes and jackets, like air force top can arm patches and Blue ray 3 D and 4K, so if you have a home theater set up like he would have which would cost around the 25 million dollar mark IMAX at home basically and 6K to 8 K, digital projection or direct optical fiber stuff on massive interlinked samsung LED TV's hooked up with the best sound system and totaly hi end massage chairs for approx 20 people with chef prepared meals to watch what ever you like, now thats i call entertainment. :) I know of home theater stuff from back in the 1980'sr and people were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars back then and with today's tech just imagine what you can have really, were talking about book shelf speakers which cost around 5k each and they are only about 12" to 14" woofers so around 18" tall and about 10" square ? The subwoofers that are just mind blowing like the best from JBL all pro series stuff, the same stuff used in large 200+ theaters in IMAX series screens etc. :)
From the very first 'chimes' at the movie starts, you KNOW this is going to be an emotional experience. Honest to God, the best, most faithful, respectful and legacy fulfilling sequel EVER!!! As good at the first one. In fact, with the addition of a "30 years later" screen-filler, these films could run together seamlessly. I laughed, I cried, I no doubt pee'd a little with excitement. You know when you leave the movie theater wanting to see the film again, it's a HIT!! Why is that? "I guess that's one of life's mysteries, Sir" - get ready for those quotes to keep coming!
This movie is amazing! People are watching it multiple times. I've seen it 10 times! It never gets boring, the visuals, the sound, the pace of the movie keeps you hooked all the way through. It will thrill you, make you laugh, make you cry, everything! One of the best films ever made.

Not even remotely true. He flew with actual Naval Aviators for the shots where it looked like he was flying. At no point did Tom Cruise join the Navy, get his commission, become a pilot, get selected for the F-16, get selected to join the top aviation program on the planet, and then become an instructor. 1 of the most amazing movies i have ever seen if not the best. i can't count the number of times i watched that movie. i had a f-14 model when i was a kid. just can't wait until June.....Top Gun is a legendary movie for all times and will remain like this for decades for my kids to see and enjoy

It’s so dead easy to see why the CRUISE / McQUARIE machine took a home run HIT this year & made $ 1.38 billion at the box office. This actor is Hollywoods most bankable asset since FORVER. I was so, so very skeptical with all the hype & trailers about this sequel & yet I found myself in a place, in a cinematic space - WRAPPED UP in this film that indeed belongs on the big screen. Can’t even remember the last time I cheered for the protagonist, laughed at great one liners, dug my nails into the seat at the suspense and story that took you - the audience for the RIDE of your life & yet there was CRUISE putting us in that CINEMA SEAT once more. I’ll be the 1 st to eat my words. Even at 68yrs this thing grabs me. The real life g force vapours are soooooo cool. Love the final horizontal inversion over the edge and pull the stick hard to go down. Epic!!!!
Seeing as how the only flying F-14's belong to Iran ... other than CGI ... I don't know where they got this one. The F-14 was a much more capable aircraft than the F-18. The F-16 and F-18 were only created because NATO was afraid of being swamped by hordes of Mig-15's from the Russian Reserves. But - as part of their design - since they planed on making a lot of them - and sending them down to drop bombs where they might get destroyed - they wanted them to be cheap AND cheap to operate. So - the F-18's design makes them cheaper to maintain than the F-14's. They aren't as capable - but - they're cheaper. As usual - the bean counters won - and the more capable aircraft was taken out of service. Then - because they didn't want Iran to get any spare parts for the F-14's we had sold them when the Shah was in power - they destroyed them all. I wish they would build them again. Updated avionics and engines from the F-22 would be good. Use them for coastal defenses, since they aren't stealthy.
@@kerrystewart3145 Aircraft come and go - the problem wasn't that they got rid of the F-14's but that they didn't have a replacement - at least not them. Now they've got F-35's. We'll just have to see how those work out. .
I was a Cpl in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton when the first Top Gun came on screen. I went to the theater and watched it five times, after the 2nd time watching it I went out and purchased me a Ninja 900. I'm certain I'll watch this one about as much as I did the first time...I won't go out and purchase me a hot crotch-rocket like I did last time....maybe this time, I will buy me a plane?
I get excited when I see the FA-18 ENGINES turn on and fire blows out. Love it. Biggest mistake: not enlisting after highschool. I tried to join when I was 25 and stupid congressmen in Jersey changed a law that made it impossible for any one with a criminal record to join any branch. I was so mad. That is where they sent you back in the old days when you got into too much trouble and me thinking I need this bc I keep getting into trouble and I want this for many reasons and I can't bc of a record which at time was just a small drug charge. Hmmmm. Stupid! But I still respect the Military 100%! Can't wait for this movie. We need more aviation movies and navy movies there aren't enough please make more of these!!!!
My dad took me to see the original in the theater when I was 6 years old. I am now 40 years old and I will take my son to see this one in the theater. I may or may not tear up a little at the sound of the "gong".
At my wedding I sat my wife in a chair, and me and all the guys sang you've lost that love and feeling to her. We did it at my brothers wedding, and my cousins wedding as well.
The son of Goose studies hard to become a Navy Pilot, get there and makes it to Top Gun because he wants to kill Mavrick who he blames for his fathers death. That's one of the sub plots.
jack wardley The F-14's were old and needed replacement. The Navy and the rest of the military had to downsize and make budget cuts, thanks to Obama. Many other military weapons programs were getting cut or cancelled as well. The F-18's were newer with the latest avionics. The Navy didn't want to spend Billions to update the F-14, and the airframe itself was old. Every aircraft has a finite number of flight hours, like the mileage rating on your tires. Keeping them flying would have been costly. The older a plane or ship or tank gets, the costlier it is to keep them going, requiring more and more maintenance. It was time for the F-14 to retire, mainly due to budget cuts.

Of course, the very next day, my grandmother took me to go buy the original motion picture soundtrack on tape. I listened to that constantly over the summer. I still have the tape and was happy to get it on cd. To this day, every time I hear that 'don', I get chill bumps. I am *soooo* looking forward to seeing this in the movie theater. :-D

Nope that goes to star wars and jaws, based on how much was spent to make it, tom is going to be so rich, that he is a super star noe, he will be this time likesay some of the actors from the 1950's and 1960's lets see, Kirk Douglas ( Which i went to the movies to see the film countdown) , Gary Grant, Dean Martin, Jerry Lewis, Frank sinatra, now you tell me as far as war movies which actor represents the total amount of money ernt making movies, also lets not forget tom van fly his own planes and even helicopters, which is to say if he wanted to he could be a commercial pilot in fact i think he has a commercial pilots license, he owns a restored P 51 mustang and just that alone makes him rich, i would say in the 1 billion dollars worth, after he receives the royalties from the first day around the world and then all the merchandising stull like models planes and jackets, like air force top can arm patches and Blue ray 3 D and 4K, so if you have a home theater set up like he would have which would cost around the 25 million dollar mark IMAX at home basically and 6K to 8 K, digital projection or direct optical fiber stuff on massive interlinked samsung LED TV's hooked up with the best sound system and totaly hi end massage chairs for approx 20 people with chef prepared meals to watch what ever you like, now thats i call entertainment. :) I know of home theater stuff from back in the 1980'sr and people were spending hundreds of thousands of dollars back then and with today's tech just imagine what you can have really, were talking about book shelf speakers which cost around 5k each and they are only about 12" to 14" woofers so around 18" tall and about 10" square ? The subwoofers that are just mind blowing like the best from JBL all pro series stuff, the same stuff used in large 200+ theaters in IMAX series screens etc. :)

From the very first 'chimes' at the movie starts, you KNOW this is going to be an emotional experience. Honest to God, the best, most faithful, respectful and legacy fulfilling sequel EVER!!! As good at the first one. In fact, with the addition of a "30 years later" screen-filler, these films could run together seamlessly. I laughed, I cried, I no doubt pee'd a little with excitement. You know when you leave the movie theater wanting to see the film again, it's a HIT!! Why is that? "I guess that's one of life's mysteries, Sir" - get ready for those quotes to keep coming!

This movie is amazing! People are watching it multiple times. I've seen it 10 times! It never gets boring, the visuals, the sound, the pace of the movie keeps you hooked all the way through. It will thrill you, make you laugh, make you cry, everything! One of the best films ever made.

Seeing as how the only flying F-14's belong to Iran ... other than CGI ... I don't know where they got this one.
The F-14 was a much more capable aircraft than the F-18. The F-16 and F-18 were only created because NATO was afraid of being swamped by hordes of Mig-15's from the Russian Reserves. But - as part of their design - since they planed on making a lot of them - and sending them down to drop bombs where they might get destroyed - they wanted them to be cheap AND cheap to operate. So - the F-18's design makes them cheaper to maintain than the F-14's. They aren't as capable - but - they're cheaper. As usual - the bean counters won - and the more capable aircraft was taken out of service.
Then - because they didn't want Iran to get any spare parts for the F-14's we had sold them when the Shah was in power - they destroyed them all. So - that F-14 that you see on a Pylon outside the base main gate - is just a hollow shell - but that's about all that is left of the Tomcat's.

Sadly, there are no more tomcats. Decommissioned. Only super hornets. I was surprised to see it in the opening.
I wish they would build them again. Updated avionics and engines from the F-22 would be good. Use them for coastal defenses, since they aren't stealthy.
@@kerrystewart3145 Aircraft come and go - the problem wasn't that they got rid of the F-14's but that they didn't have a replacement - at least not them. Now they've got F-35's. We'll just have to see how those work out.

I was a Cpl in the Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton when the first Top Gun came on screen. I went to the theater and watched it five times, after the 2nd time watching it I went out and purchased me a Ninja 900. I'm certain I'll watch this one about as much as I did the first time...I won't go out and purchase me a hot crotch-rocket like I did last time....maybe this time, I will buy me a plane?

The F-14's were old and needed replacement. The Navy and the rest of the military had to downsize and make budget cuts, thanks to Obama. Many other military weapons programs were getting cut or cancelled as well.
The F-18's were newer with the latest avionics. The Navy didn't want to spend Billions to update the F-14, and the airframe itself was old. Every aircraft has a finite number of flight hours, like the mileage rating on your tires. Keeping them flying would have been costly. The older a plane or ship or tank gets, the costlier it is to keep them going, requiring more and more maintenance. It was time for the F-14 to retire, mainly due to budget cuts.
