  • I thought this fish was over 40 pounds by the amount of line she was able to take. This fish ended up being just 45", my second biggest fish of the morning. Current makes it difficult to accurately judge a fish's size.

What an awesome video and beautiful fish. Don’t discredit yourself man, we all know that anything over 30lbs in that tide feels like a nuclear submarine! Your chick seems like a great fishing buddy. Really cool that you guys have fun together like that man!

it's illegal to keep striped bass over 35 inches and under 28 inches. big fines. 500-1000 to start. if you get caught more than once they'll put you in jail for 30 days. i also know dudes who will beat the hell out of you. i may or may not be one of them. no decent angler keeps striped bass anyway. they are a gamefish and were damn near an apex predator before the sharks and seals came back, and are way too valuable for the fishery. unless you're genuinely hungry, in which case i want you getting a job instead of fishing, don't keep gamefish or striped bass. get a job if you're really hungry. for some context, this fish is female, in her teens, and will lay millions of eggs when she spawns. of all of the striped bass that are born from the chesapeak to the gulf of maine, maybe 1 in a million reach 30#. probably closer to 1 in 10 million who reach 40-50#. striped bass reach 100+ lbs. they've been netted offshore and measured by biologists. we just kill them all before they get that big. a gauntlet of anglers from maryland to maine, and when they get too big to come back to the rivers and live offshore they end up in nets. you cannot keep these fish for so many different reasons. it is not a choice.

It happens almost every time. I once had two people stand on either side of me close enough that I could touch them with my rod while I was fighting a fish.

Fish Monkey do you ever say anything to em? Sad that people don't even have fisherman's courtesy. How do you like the paraflex now after some time?

Iv fished near you one morning when you pulled in a nice one on that sp minnow green mac. You catch some serious fish.
Think that was you that won the glasses striper cup? You catch some serious side liners. Love watching these videos

I'm not sure what is on his finger, but look up pool glove for shooting pool...I think it would be perfect.

Nice job in the releases bro. Too Many People keeping those large fish.
Whoever mentions to go on the service road and Chase it down. That's impossible to do at low tide without breaking your leg. If he was wearing korkers he could have climbed up and then Chase it down but he didn't have the right gear on.
