There's a principle in weight training called HIT high intensity training. Intense focused training for a shorter period of time. I think the same concept can be applied to guitar, giving you good results.

I totally agree, Claus. Practicing only one or two things in intervals for 30-40 minutes per day while focusing intently on what your doing is far more productive than playing for a few hours. Concentrate!

I agree with the overall principal, but anyone who is not used to practicing 16 hours a day who starts doing that without building up the endurance, is setting themselves up for tendonitis or other issues.
I know that when I practice for long stretches, the next day I feel it and I back off on the time a little bit to avoid any serious issues.
