Nice! Why do people play other horns as long as there are Keilwerths?

I just picked up at a 92k serial sx90. Sounds alittle deeper than yours. Keilwerth have such a nice and deep sound. I prefer them over selmer. Hard to describe that unique sound.

Love the sound with that tenor and mouthpiece combo! Still nice & warm, but with a little bit of bite!

Sounds good. I have a SX90 with a Durga 5 ..talk about a big sound. Trumpets tell me to keep it down. Lol

While SX90 will give more "edge", SX90R will polish up and smoothen those edges. The rolled tone holes make difference. The sound is more "enveloping" or 3D in quality (not as focused, but dispersed). More nuanced because the sax reacts faster to even the subtlest airstream. Playing pianissimo is easier, and legatos are smoother, dynamics (very quiet to very loud) more controllable, long notes are more even, pad noise (leather to tone-hole "stickiness") is lower.

Sounds great Steve! I’ve been a fan of yours for years. I have an SX90R NS and I love it...there isn’t any lacquer on mine however. I also play a Wanne piece. Huge sound...Ernie Watts came to Charleston 3yrs ago and I was honored to lend him my horn as his was damaged en route. Take care, Brent Swaney

Such a beautiful tone and performance, and thank you so much for sharing about the accessories you are using ❤. Can I ask you if the mouthpiece you are using for soprano is high or low baffle?

i have a silver sx90 straight tone hole tenor from 1994 with a copper neck and my mouthpiece is a gs slant ,slant type pieces are perfect on sx90s imo

Hey Steve. I just stumbled on your channel, subscribed and really love it. Your sound and style are amazing . I'm sure on any horn you play, you sound killer. Where were you able to find a dealer that caries this particular tenor with that clear lacquer over nickel silver with the gold keys? I'm in SoCAl.
    Thank you
