I am just a student of music, but all i can say is this is the best introduction to carnatic music i have ever seen. Thanks TM Krishna for this tremendous research and presentation.
I can relate to everything he says. I have zero theoretical knowledge in music, yet I am able to identify ragas without much effort, purely by listening to phrases. Music cannot be formally taught, it is within us... beautiful lecture.
Correct , raja s a genuis of this era.. he can't make such statements..raja has used ragas which nobody has dared to explore.. i have all respects for Mr.tm krishna sir but i respect raja more than anything for his deep knowledge...
@bcc99 you could have avoided those words and could have made your comments in a more respectful manner.. nevertheless i certainly cannot accept Mr.tm krishna s comment abt ilayaraja..no one can imagine composing for more than 1000 films.. someone who has tuned thyagaraja kriti in a whole new raga (padariyen from mov sindhu Bhairavi)..lot many brilliant works...
@@music4kris The whole thing is in a mocking tone; very cheeky. That is why I had to comment that way. Besides, I do not think film music (especially what Maestro Ilayaraja composed) is "easy" or in anyway "lesser" to Carnatic compositions, with all due respect to Krishna.
