I’d definitely take the Warthog and/or Cougar over the alternatives even though I like Virpil’s constellation L & R. But these things cost so much, you can save more than 60% buying an X-56 Rhino
This is one of the best reviews on the Warthog on RUclips. Im trying to get one but with the current world shortage of flightsim accessories Im still on a waiting list. I have to admit one of the chief reasons of me 'wanting' it is its stunning build quality, i can't overstate just how 'immersive' and life-like a high-quality bit of hardware can bring you "into the game". The throttle is almost flawless (nevermind the plastic twin-blocks) but what im really digging is the metallic joystick and the tight high-tension resistance in the stick. I used to have a Saitek X52 Pro and the loose tension joystick was what really turned me off, making me see it more as a toy rather than serious gaming hardware.
I've had one since 2014. The autopilot button on the throttle is bust and the chaff button on the joy has also gone duff. The other buttons still work though. The joystick has developed a wobble which can't be removed by tightening the screws inside.
This year I purchased a thrustmaster Hotas setup and a set of rudder pedals. I've been flying sims on and off for about 15 years. Never had any pedals. If I was to replace the hotas component i'd probably hit up Thrustmaster for the warthog. Back to the pedals. They take a short time to get accustomed too. When you do, your accuracy will go up. The sensation of absolute and complete control is fantastic. For the 80 or so quid for a set of pedals I cant imagine flying any sim without them. Nice review big thumbs up.
Thanks for the review I have delusions of VR in my not too distant future so i''ll most likely need something like a Warthog so I can bind everything to the stick and throttle. I see you have a DCS thumbnail so im going to presume that will be your flight sim of choice. If you get any of the World war two war birds modules, You'll defiantly want a set of pedals.
Its a nice sim I'm actually an IL2 BoS man. Just bought the Spitfire Mk Vb on Saturday. Horrible to land them I think at this stage of the game the flight models are all solid, but damn I keep on ground looping. Its the castor tail wheel that's the problem I can put a half dead anything else down on a spot I pick, an roll it to the end of the runway. Spitfire? No bloody chance .. Take off on the other hand is a piece of cake. Set trim. Slowly apply the throttle to full power whilst at the same time apply rudder to steer. DCS Spit will like ample right rudder and aileron too keep her straight until your tail comes up. Then its just a matter of keeping it straight too about 100 knots an if you trimmed correctly for take off she'll lift off on her own. Wheels up. Adjust power settings and prop pitch. Open the Radiator an away you go:). Watch boost settings or you'll blow the engine. Keep your eye on it at all times over revving a Merlin Engine is a sin.
actually the USAF took the flight stick from the F16 when they upgraded the a10A to the A10C the throttle is also used in the F15 DCS is now working on a F16 block 50 model for 2020.
Quality of the build is there, but the software has not stayed current. It was built in USB 2 era and has a hard time with USB 3 and newer systems. Although USB 3 is backwards compatible, there are all sorts of devices that have issues. TMWH being one of them.
I know this is a very uncommon question, however can this be mapped to xinput? Reason being that I play alot of FiveM (GTA 5 Multiplayer mod) in which I fly the police helicopter, would this you reckon work with that? And if so would it be through keyboard and mouse features or do you reckon the controls could be translated from raw input to xinput? Appreciated
completely overkill for such a game just like what gametechuk is using it for lol but if you have money to burn go for it, plenty of cheaper options will do the same unless you intend on going sup[er hard on something like the new flight sim
Can I ask you a couple of questions, please? What are those stands you have your VR units on? What headset are you using in the first part of the video? Thank you in advance.
I know that this set up is for PC, however I was reading a thread where someone had it working on PS4 with War Thunder. I haven't been able to find much more info on this, however, I have heard from a few people that it is possible.. It's not a cheap stick, and I don't want to take such a risk hoping it will work on PS4. Currently using Tflight hotas 4. would love to upgrade, but I have a feeling before I do that, I will have to upgrade to PC.

And also couldn’t do without the yaw axis, I use it for rudder and tiller and it would be a pain to have to reconfigure everything! Looks like a very nice product though.
Good video. Would really appreciate some assistance from the community - I have now bought two NEW Warthogs (Throttle and Stick) for Win 10 PCs. First machine, tried everything - no joy. I spent hours trying everything I could. Could not upgrade firmware to both devices, either. New machine arrived today, as well as a new Warthog unit from Thrustmaster. And still the same problem !? I simply cannot get my machine to recognise the stick.
Do not, I repeat, NOT buy the Trustmaster Warthog. Is it good? Yes. Is it well build? Well depends. This thing is 10 years old, and for 10 years was the top, the best you can buy. For 2009 it is very well build, but we are in 2019 and many owners are upgrading their HOTAS with far better parts from Virpil or VKB. I myself upgraded my TMWH to a Virpil base and TM WH grip, and the difference is really huge. After 10 years you would think there will be a new HOTAS or at least a new base, but all TM did is to add 200 € for the exact same 10 year old product. Now this is 600€, the exact same price as a Virpil HOTAS, but miles behind Virpil in quality.
Nice to see you getting the hotas setup heavy enough to kill someone with. I'm hoping you'll do a follow-up on how you find it working out for you as well!

Eric van der Heide Yea it would of been nice to of had it included but in being a direct cooy i suppose it would break the immersion. I'm also told once you go pedals/rudders you never go back.
True. Ones you get used to it anyway. Besides. I mainly use the Thrustmaster Warthog to fly the A10-C Warthog in DSC World so rudder pedals make it more realistic
"With a little nipple in the middle of the keyboard"... well, with my homies we used to joke it was a clit lol :D Awesome review mate, I loved your TPR rudders review too. I'm looking for a HOSAS setup for SC, and kind of felt let down by the Warthog since it lacks yaw (not a product fault, clearly); however a fellow SC player told me he too uses the 2-way hat switch for yaw. Were you able to try it, finally? How did it work for you?
This video is, wow , terrible. It being heavy makes it great quality? really? Look inside the base at the pile of grease and plastic that breaks pretty easily, I am sure that is just like the real warthog xD. How much did they pay you ? or just free HOTAS?
It would be good to see compatibility introduced for those that want a high end Hotas like this. Saying that though, for the price, the T Flight is a great bit of kit.
@@dandotvid Forget the comparison and the price points. The Warthog is overpriced rubbish regardless. It fails all by itself without VKB or VirPil. It is made cheaply and designed badly but covered in bling so that the clueless will buy it and think they have a quality product when in reality they have just bought junk. It uses a poorly finished plastic ball for a gimbal that prevents separate X and Y inputs, any change in one axis will almost always bleed over in to another axis. It uses springs that are far too strong for desktop use, preventing fine inputs without an extension. The gimbal has higher resistance to movement when it is stationary than when it is moving (So called Stiction), preventing fine input. It uses cheap switches that have far too high an activation pressure. It has a round gate for the stick, it is not possible to apply maximum X and Maximum Y at the same time. The throttle uses a mouse nub (!!!!!) as a slew control that is worse than if they'd just used a Hat switch. I could go on but everybody would get bored. It really isn't worth the price.

What is quali-y ?
What's your point?
Pronounce your words correctly that's the point
Or just go and watch someone else?
@@GametechUK no. I need your exclusive info. But I need you to talk right
If I buy this I put up about 2000+ hours on DCS World, I wonder if the Air Force would hire me as a pilot lmao
Lol worth a try!
What's a thro-le
well that's it im getting this lil beast :D
Lovely bit of kit mate.
@@GametechUK yeah thanks for the video. Just wondering how much was your chair and where could i get one?
What a beast of a flight stick. I am Looking at my hotas 4 in disgust!!despite the fact I can never use this as it as not ps4 compatible. Looks amazing tho. 😀👍
Yea i can't wait to start using it properly, especially in the flight chair. It's a shame you can't use it on the PS4 actually.
It's amazing. The only downside is the lag of twisting the stick for the yaw function.
Could I use this on PS4
No.
GametechUK ok thx for letting me know
The Throttle lol. That be a trigger your squeezing
8:41 Virpil.
and VKB. Lazy ass lack of research.
"With a little nipple in the middle of the keyboard"... well, with my homies we used to joke it was a clit lol :D
Awesome review mate, I loved your TPR rudders review too. I'm looking for a HOSAS setup for SC, and kind of felt let down by the Warthog since it lacks yaw (not a product fault, clearly); however a fellow SC player told me he too uses the 2-way hat switch for yaw. Were you able to try it, finally? How did it work for you?
lol same. Centrally Located Interface Tool!
@@GametechUK Haha, that's a way to name it
I liked the video but elite dangerous a sim come on DCS
Damn it you get all the good stuff Jason, you are just spoilt!
Smurfin McMurfin lol so spoilt!
This video is, wow , terrible. It being heavy makes it great quality? really? Look inside the base at the pile of grease and plastic that breaks pretty easily, I am sure that is just like the real warthog xD. How much did they pay you ? or just free HOTAS?
Insides are plastic!
Hi saddly no ps4 support for this in elite dangerous. Just awefull hotas 4.
Observador Pt this stick is nor meant for a space sim smart ass. Its made for flight sims, especially the a10c in dcs
It would be good to see compatibility introduced for those that want a high end Hotas like this. Saying that though, for the price, the T Flight is a great bit of kit.
Please get a mic.....
You are totally right and i will be investing in more hardware soon.
The Warthog is absolute junk. Cheap plastic internals and a pot metal handle that's too heavy for its own good. Buy VKB or Virpil and never look back!
Yeah, and just the Virpil throttle costs as much as a Warthog set
And is never in stock and takes forever to get
People who compare products that are at different price points, while saying the less expensive model is "absolute junk" are clueless.
Andrew Lockett
Then why is it considered one of the best hotas setups?
You spent all that money on all that and can't afford a good mic come man....
Glad you enjoyed it. Happy new year....
I wonder if has upgraded his mic now?
HoTAS... Not HoTIS... Christ, you're English, speak right!
