    Loudest noise was when I was in military training. Our tanks were in position, doing test fires. I thought they were done after a long break of silence, so I go to set up my biwak up against our armored vehicle. I'm sitting there, concentrating on that, when all of a sudden, the nearest tank fires a round. Now, the ear facing the tank was fine, but the ear just two feet from the armor-plated vehicle next to me, experience severe pain, as the blast resonated off the solid surface and got amplified. Didn't feel so good. :(

    I had tinitus, but in my case I wouldn't hear ringing, but rather a white noise, like tv or radio static. It's very very irritating, I couldn't sleep, and the noise seems to be inside your head! Sometimes if I get very nervous it temporarily comes back. It can drive you insane!

    • @Shafliez
      @Shafliez 10 лет назад +1

      Did it just go away? Do you know usual that is? I'm just a bit worried because I'm only 16 and having tinnitus in my other ear even though I've tried to be careful with music... I just have waaaay too many musical hobbies ._.

    • @MrHugosantos1982
      @MrHugosantos1982 10 лет назад +1

      Music was, and still is my main hobby. Nowadays I only produce music with my pc, I am what they call a "Bedroom Studio Producer". I play a little guitar also, and I always have to have some kind of music playing, even when I'm sleeping. But to get rid of that annoying thing I had to be without listening to anything at all for a long time. Loud things became a no-no. I have already lost 50% of the hearing frequency range, so I avoid at all costs extremely loud places like clubs or concerts (or psytrance rave parties in my case). But the thing that really ended the problem for good was some medication I started taking, that made me relax a lot, because apparently it was also stress that was causing a high frequency vibration to occur physically inside my ear, resulting in the brain processing it as noise. Avoid very loud music, specially with high power headphones, they do the worst damage because the sound vibrations are directly beamed to your ear.

    • @Shafliez
      @Shafliez 10 лет назад +1

      Thanks for sharing your experiences! It is relieving to know that I'm not tied to this for the rest of my life. Mine isn't very loud, luckily, so most of time I don't pay much attention to it, but if I'll be living for 60 years more I believe it would get quite irritating with time. I play multiple instrument and compose with pc, like you, and love to listen to music too, so it's hard to limit the the time with music, but I'll try to keep my ears alive. Good luck with your music production and hearing! ^^

    The loudest noise...thunder from a lightning strike about 5 feet from my head. I essentially heard nothing but a "tick" and then silence, total silence for several minutes. I didn't even hear a ringing in my ears for those several minutes. My hearing did gradually come back over a few days. I felt the ground come up and hit me in the face, I had been knocked forward to the ground by the shock wave. I had minor burns to the back of my neck either from the heat or UV flash. I was told that the "tick" sound was the EMP energy directly stimulating my auditory nerve.

      no no no, like _Everybody_ hears it. Even if you have never experienced a loud noise causing ringing in your ears, you can still hear it.
      Some people have actually become mentally insane from it. It is from being in a very silent room and if you do not listen to anything, you will hear a low pitched (it isn't high) ringing. It seems to be coming from nowhere.

    Once while I was in 3rd grade, I went to a concert. But the floor plan was so awful, people had to cross the SPEAKERS leaving very little space between me and the seats to go to the bathroom. No other way. That sound almost gave a pulse of unconsciousness. After that, nothing.

    Being "close" to a controlled explosion, while in the military. Was the most extreme I've experienced. While its no longer sound per se, the shock wave / pressure wave was so unpleasant even with ear protection on it left me with a sort of white noise sound for about an hour.

    Loudest noise I've ever been exposed to is, without a doubt, my brothers car!!! He had a, let's say, rather dramatic sound system set up. It was a late 90s BMW 540i, with only the front seats, the whole back end of the car was speakers and box. He used to enter (and win) sound offs in the UK with approx 157db, produced by 4/6 15" subs plus a whole bunch more speakers in the front and rear (and doors) My first exposure to this (and this was no where near full volume) when he gave me a lift to work one day, was massively ringing ears and I even staggered when walking. Not very pleasant is an huge understatement haha, and he used to actually drive around like this!!! As you can imagine, his hearing is far from perfect nowadays!!! Great vid!!!

    The loudest thing I recall was shooting a .410 Snake Charmer without any hearing protection when I was about 14 or so a couple of years at a lake with my grandpas brother. However since that was my first time firing an actual long gun naturally I did not expect the recoil and I was never told how to actually shoulder it properly so the plastic stock hit me on my braces and my ears were ringing a good while afterward and long story short I wear double hearing protection when I go to the range and improved on my marksmanship skills thanks to my little lesson there and I still have fairly good hearing.

    The loudest sound I've ever heard, well theres two, and both compete for my number 1 spot.
    13 Years old (Early 2000s) A severe thunderstorm rolled into Oshawa lasting for a while, my mother and I along with a friend decided to watch the lightning on the front porch (under a roof) and then a huge bright flash of lightning happened (lit up the entire street like it was daytime). The following crack of thunder was so loud it scared the crap out of me and even made the windows and wood parts of the house shake.
    The other one would have to be about 8 years ago (Age 16), filling up my bike tires at a gas station on a hot day, a truck filling up the stations gas tanks had one of its tires explode (heat and defect failure?). I thought something exploded like a gas tank or something. Considering how close I was (the Air pump wasn't far from the filler holes in the ground), I'm surprised I wasn't hurt or killed from the exploding tire shrapnel, or made permanently deaf by that.

    The loudest sound I've ever heard was probably a massive in-cloud lightning discharge that occurred right above my head when I was standing outside enjoying a storm. The discharge was very dim so I didn't think much of it. Not that I could have thought about it, because less than half a second after I saw it I heard what sounded more like a HUGE explosion than a clap of thunder. The bass was incredible. I could feel the air pressure blast hit me and heard it rattle all the windows in the house. My ears were ringing for about a minute afterward, but I'd do it again in a second. It was intense!

    Have a friend who's a US Marine Corps Infantryman and he told us that on deployments they don't use Hearing Protection, so one day while he was back we took my Rifles and Pistols out to the ranch and we shot about 1,500 Rounds of ammo using no ear protection, I have a Fostech Bumpski Stock on one of my ARs that allows me to bump fire (Rapid Fire) and to be honest it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, sure my ears were ringing for the first few shots but as time went on my ears adapted to the sound and it was like no big deal.

    but how did some popular criminals fire bullets from shotguns,pistols and rifles and they have only slight deafness?when my dad was in 2nd year of high school he and the rest of the 2nd year went to shoot some ww1 guns at a shooting range (probably was some sort of drill in the case of a war breaking out or if you get attacked so you can defend yourself.also he was in a pretty small school so there were only about 90 students in total in second year) without ear protection and he said he had tinnitus for 2-3 days straight and wasnt able to hear basically anything,but after that he was fine,and even today his hearing is excellent .

    the loudest noise i have experienced has been in a night club. So when i went to a concert i put cotton wool in my ears which dulled the sounds at first but then i got used to them and could hear the concert normally. When we left the concert and i took them out my ears went back to normal. As opposed to leaving the night club when i had ringing in my ears.
    My father was a carpenter builder and had to use nail guns in an underground car park they were building; he has permanent hearing damage that is quite significant.
